Give Void Elves Natural Hair Colors

This rhetoric is why I just call them ranger markings.

I don’t mind both sides getting them.

In fact if that is the beginning and the end of what is left for VEs “High Elf” customizations I would be quite fine. Because it leaves hair out of the equation.

But I don’t tend to root for people getting something by using selective terminology in an attempt to cheat BEs out of what they deserve.

Actually the biggest High elf hero in this game it’s Alleria Windrunner and she’s Alliance . It’s normal that everyone want to look familiar…

I agree that people trying to deny them from Blood Elves is gross.

Alliance has Farstriders too you know:

I mean, we haven’t seen any other elf with those.
Sure you can extrapolate if you wish but is not like they have been a big part of the game or anything. Not even Sylvanas or Vereesa ever had them, Halduron, Valeera, Lor’themar, not even in their special models. It has always been a big part the individual looks of Alleria as a character.

So Calling them Alleria tatoos seems quite fine.

Daily reminder that Alleria was not the only one with tattoos in wc2.

They’re from WCII. The Rangers who were Farstriders had them after their upgrade.

They’re farstrider tattoos.

Never seen this bit of story before. Nice.

Lann to my knowledge hasn’t claimed they are not a valid ask for the Alliance.

Since when do playable characters look exactly like the Racial Leaders?
The Forsaken didn’t got to look like Sylvanas, or the male Draenei to look like Velen.

Pushing that argument to take from Blood Elves is so lame.

Void elves are one of my favorite Allied Races. I agree with this. If you want to play a void elf that’s not voidey, play a blood elf.

That’s just my $.02.

Sure, but two things

  1. do you really expect people to know WC2 at this point? or find it relevant. People nowadays don’t even know III.

  2. They never showed up again as a “farstrider” thing , only shown in every media for Alleria. Be it official art, spin off game or WoW. And it is not like it was because of some tech limitation, humans had markings in vanilla, Nelves always had them as customization.

And I said, not even other important farstrider characters sport them at all, despite having unique models.

As it stands, they are clearly an Alleria thing currently in lore.

And a lot of things changed since WC2, after all, back then it was said High Elves had druids.

Sylvanas was always a distinct race. Velen just has unique features being a unique NPC and all but he still sports qualities Draenei have.

Ah, but I want hair colors and styles from various Alliance races, so my request isnt asking to just look like Alleria. Has nothing to do with lame BE.

Farstriders? Farstriders are a Horde organisation, any non-Horde members are former-Farstriders, not Farstriders.

But players trying to deny natural hair colors and different styles for VE is okay?

I’m going to say no, let’s not do this.

Let it remain a blood elf thing, void elves should move in a more void direction in my honest opinion.

I expect anyone interested in a race to know about that races larger organizations.

As such when given the information about WCII rangers and that they are Farstriders and that Alleria was a Farstrider who ended up with the Tattoos seen only on their upgraded “elite” units that they would accept the truth of the matter.

Alleria is sporting Farstrider Tattoos. Which because of how all three major groups of Thalassian elf are setup makes sense for ALL three to request.

News to me. Where did you find that info? Not doubting just curious about it.

Still allows you to effectively look EXACTLY like a Blood Elf… so… you’d be just as lame.

I meant Farstrider Tattoos not the organization.

Thats what I’d like too overall.

Some things are worth sharing where it makes sense.

The ear sliders, scars, Tattoos (not all of them). QoL stuff.

IDK, I’d expect that for people deep in the lore but like most fans won’t most the more random and ancient aspects of the game. Which is fine warcraft lore is absurdly large at this point.

I’m not saying you are wrong in considering them farstrider tattoos. I’m saying I see no issue in people calling them Alleria tattoos as it’s really not a part of the world anywhere else.

Wether blizzard later makes an stance of what they specifically mean, it will depend on them.

WC2:ToD Manual describing one of the missions.

" The Runestone was an ancient monolith erected by the Elven Druids and inscribed with powerful runes of protection and warding. The Runestone, seized by Gul’dan and his Ogres, was eventually hewn into slates that were then used to construct the Altars of Storms. The Elves, knowing that their sacred artifact had been defiled to create the Ogre-Magi, have sworn to destroy all of the unholy Altars across the kingdom."

Also this is decidedly non canon now but just for fun, the old RPG said the rangers were druids.

" The dark rangers are said to have turned to the Forgotten in order to fill the void left by the loss of their druidism from when they were rangers"

My issue is more that the ones pushing those “Allerian Tattoos” are the ones who already know they are Farstrider Tattoos. They’re doing it to push a concept that would relegate those Tattoos options to their side and their side alone.

This is not the first, second, or even third time its been brought up with any of the ones using it in this thread recently.

You’re absolutely right I’d give a random elf fan who is not interested in the lore too much a pass. These folk are not that.

Blizzard goes out of their way of late to keep that mum.

They are still requested by all three sides of this “debate”.

Very interesting. I lost my copy of that manual a long time ago, didn’t remember reading that bit.

Anything from the RPG should be taken as not canon no matter what. I get the impression that little of that RPG was ever run by Blizzard before it was put out.

Considering I disagree with the idea of denying anyone anything, I have noticed that some people will try and play it both ways.
