Flying is far from the only difference between Classic and Retail. In fact they are both similar in that they agree the initial leveling experience should be on the ground.
I would say that it is Classic’s other advantages that make it preferable to Retail for some players, for some amount of time, despite the lack of flying in the end game.

I never said the game was dead, I’m currently playing on Heartseeker and this is what you see on Tuesday at the dropping of ye olde Onyxia head:

Notice how I stood far back and angled my camera to display as many people as I could? It’s almost like I don’t have an anti-Classic bias like you implied but instead I prefer facts and data over feelings! Wow!
Only the Brazilian server, Sul’thraze, is low pop. It was also opened up as a new server after Classic launched and too few people transferred to make it really viable.
It didn’t really die it just never got off the ground.

That means every server would be a flying server, as my observation has been the large majority of my server think the lack of flying goes on too long.

I don’t upload the data, I use the addon to track concurrent online players. I purge the data after every scan.
Inb4: “Blizzard broke the addon!”
Fact: They made the automatic SendWho() function protected, the addon creator responded by binding a ManualWho() request to right-click. There’s also a button to do that you can sit there and click.
Or you could just do it manually, which is what I do sometimes when servers have this few people online. As I’ve said before, anyone who doesn’t believe me can check these servers out themselves. It’s not hard, it doesn’t require a lot of effort to fact check yourself.
I’m sorry you did not get enough attention as a child OP. 
The OP and his tiny Aerophobe family should petition for a no flying server so all 20 of them can run around in their safe space with their socialist nerves calmed by the fact that everyone else on that server will be forced to play exactly as they want them to.
