Give All High Elves Golden Eyes

I think that what Nicodemus means is that now that eyes are unlinked from face, some AR are by default getting more options: maghar, HMT, kul tiran, mechagnome, all can now choose eye color separate from face. The thing is, since eye color is a separate option now, looking at the data files, it seems there are a couple more VE eye colors -they look the same as theirs, just another shade-

The speculation is that they are throwing a couple eye color options for AR that have monocolor eyes to just not leave them with nothing new.

We don’t know if high elves and blood elves are connected in the same way. We don’t even know the specifics of how the connection even works. How long does the exposure have to be, etc? Do they have to siphen it directly? Do they have to be reconnected? What is the effective distance? Some are described as being able to feel it. Feeling the sunwell and connecting to it are different things. How does it transcend time and space? Maybe they should just retcon that? I do agree with Ion’s statement that suggests blood elves are evolving into their own thing.

they are biologically the exact same thing. its the center of their culture. so much so they still periodically make a pilgrimage to their homeland

they are already attuned to it. we saw lorthemar visit the quel’lithien campsite with the hermits who knew the sunwell was restored because their pangs had begun to fade. no one knows how it transcends time and space, thats just how it is

im ok with it too but until proven otherwise they are all connected to it, so whatever is happening biologically to a blood elf(high elf) is happening to an alliance high elf

i suspect void elves have also ‘evolved’ beyond pale skin :woman_shrugging:

You evolved past having blue eyes, High elves haven’t. You are not the exact same thing.

Why are you in Denial so hard?

a blood elf is a high elf nydoras

i could say the same thing. its why you got void elves

this is the compromise. blue eyes are the past(unless youre a DK) and void elves are there for you on the alliance

I don’t care about that.

You said they are the exact same thing, They aren’t they are two different mutation of a similar species at this point.

There is no proof of this, beyond a hotly debated use of a word, it makes little sense that they are two distinct species now, when we know as a race the thalassian elves seem to pick up traits of magical energies they are most commonly in proximity to.

Evolved can be used in a literary sense. As in the Blood Elves story has moved on from the ties they had with their kin, that regaining blue eyes would be part of moving backwards in their story, witch sounds more reasonable to me.

I’m not clamoring for all elves to get gold eyes, or BE’s to get blue eyes… i just think until we have something more concrete, jumping to conclusions is bad.

Yes the word could be used as that. But in the Context it was used. “it wouldn’t make sense for blood elfs to have blue eyes, Because they evolved” That is pretty straight forward. They evolved to the point they couldn’t have blue eyes? That seems to be a mutation. Ion chose to use that word over any other descriptive word he could have used. Like the fel tainted them like a poison it wont allow the ones called blood elfs to have blue eyes as they once did. That would be a distinct way of not using the word. Ion wants the blood elf wars to be his legacy.

Thats the thing, that sentence feels so… sloppy, especially without anything else to frame it in.

Either lore is being changed to support this evolution, or from a narrative standpoint, they have evolved beyond it. And i’ll admit, i am bised in i like that answer a bit more, because it is true.

It might have started out as a difference of politics of mana veganism, but Blood Elves have changed from the high elves, their society is distinct and different now, that even if they gained Blue Eyes out of nowhere, it would have no meaning, because there is no real going back. They are a distinct culture now.

I agree 100% though that Ion wants the elf wars to be his legacy, i still feel like he reads these threads with some popcorn and a drink.

that doesnt define them as golden eyes proved and its already on record their green glint will fade. they ARE NOT a different race/species. any high elf can manifest a green glint from prolonged exposure to ambient fel magic in their enviornment(post sunwell restoration debatable). this happened because they no longer had a sunwell proving how easy it is for their eye color to change

blood elves are still biologically high elves so the implication is blue eyes will one day likely be gone from all high elves. it might not be in the games lifetime but that is what i got from his response

the only ‘poison’ here is this topic. giving all high elf NPCs golden eyes to reflect where they will be in the future will at least end these circular ‘debates’

You can’t end debates with a hammer, unless it’s an actual physical object you smash into someone’s head. Even if all elves had golden eyes, the debate would still go on.

Personally, I’m all for more golden eyes, but I’d like a variety of selections for literally anybody (except demonhunters and DKs obviously). Blue, green, light, void black, etc. should all be possible. After all, you can draw your magic from a variety of sources and conformity is for work, not free time.

I also have something for you that pops up in my brain everytime I see this topic:

Karaatu! :gift_heart: that was needed!

though that dose make me wish void elves got void black/ that funky electric blue for their eye color… the whole hooked to the void thing

So first We already know in game that the LIGHT can 100% purge out the fel. but if a blood elf takes the light in like that to purge out to fel then they 100% can’t go back from golden eyes. We have seen the light purge fel and before it fully purged we had a big DH eye beam him to stop it.

Look i’m sorry Ion used the word that you didn’t want him to use. He used it for a reason he knew how people would react he isn’t stupid.

So it would be in your best interest to just accept it that blood elfs are no longer High elfs they are evolved from them now.

High elfs never had green eyes so it’s safe to say that the high elfs wont lose that aspect of the High elves race.

I don’t really care if you are in denial to be honest. I gave pretty good reasoning for it.
You got upset that you didn’t get the blue eyes so you made a demand like a child.

he literally did not say that blood elves evolved from high elves. no ones getting a blue eyed blood elf unless its a void elf or DK

so you should be happy. your small but vocal minority finally accomplished something. they got you void elves and made blue eyes a thing of the past

Don’t forget Light has a thing about wanting to push out Fel. I’ve never seen any situation Arcane is so proactive in trying to influence things.

On the flip side I haven’t seen Holy try to actively influence arcane things either. In other words perhaps the Holy is curing the BEs of their green eyes. But there is no reason to believe Holy is influencing arcane aspects of HE eyes.

And ion spoke on Blood Elves yesterday. Not HEs as a whole, had he wanted to he could have an chose only Blood Elves. So this news pertained to BEs and BEs alone.

In the Warcraft movie, arcane is something that gets corrupted by fel, not the other way around. The process is only halted or reversed by an act of will, rather than magic, almost like shaking off a possessing entity.

for me its smash mouth - all star

And all that glitters is gold

Once again my way would have been everyone gets everything because I don’t care and I want people to have choice and just play the game.

He literally said they evolved past having blue eyes. That has a very straight forward meaning in that sense. Do you understand? No? that is fine. You don’t have to know. Learn what words mean and then understand how they work when used in any context.

Actually it does make sense. Some of the High Elves joined Void Elves, but they’ll not end up like Void Elves. I’ll imagine they still have the same model but have access to the Void, just like Alleria. The Void Elves screwed up because they trusted an ethereal dude.
