Ghostcrawler Says Forum Critics are Wrong

I have nothing to comment but I think there might be a bug where clicking on the “first blue post” button brought me to the blue post being quoted rather than the post itself

Exactly. I feel like every time I see someone arguing in favor of the expansion are all the same people and the complaints are always different people.

WoW’s philosophy in terms of game development is not that of Vanilla, TBC, or WotLK anymore. Which saddens me because that era of Blizzard is gone.

Everything post WotLK was nothing more than Blizzard selling themselves short to produce mediocre content and gutting the game to remove any sense of individuality in turn for profit. You cannot play this game at your own pace and be satisfied. This is all of course my opinion so put the pitch forks down.

MoP still remains one of my favorite expansions.

That’s why it would be nice to see sub numbers again. Or is blizzard to scared to share that anymore? That’s the only reason I could see as to not sharing them. Sure time played is different and money is made in the shop as well now but no matter how much one person plays I’d rather have 50 playing 15 mins a day vs one person who never logs off. One sub no matter how much they play is just one sub.

Even though MoP gave me heartburn at first, it was a good expansion. Not one single era of WoW had as much content as MoP.

No, but all the players I talk to are a good gauge and they aren’t very happy.

Yes, negative posts always outnumber positive. But what if it really is bad and logins are down? Those people who were positive before don’t come to post, they just leave…

The actual answer is logins, and Bliz has that information (we don’t have direct access, but can see our friends lists and make our own conclusions).

For me, I’d like to see more people logging in… that’s my take on BfA.

I’m still looking for the horrible reviews.

Wait! I found them:

With the new forum system and ‘trust’ level, these type of spammy posters who don’t actually play wow but sit here all day shilling are being given added importance. It’s like the wow forums used the excuse of the new and improved forum system of overwatch to try and implicitly push an agenda and highlight these type of shillers. As if the removal of the dislike button wasn’t good enough to make these forums feel artifically like a fun friendly place and erroneously show a good health for the game.

Forums are supposed to be for debate and discussion, not for shilling. But wow and blizzard seem to move away more and more from that path. It feels like a corporate ladder in here with the trust system. It doesn’t feel so bad now, but given time for the trust levels to phase out, there will be true segregation I feel.

At least twitter and reddit will continue to march against what blizzard has become. You can’t buy everything, Blizz.

I’m not denying that any expansion post WotLK was bad or admitting that it was good, but that it was the starting point of WoW’s overall declination in terms of game quality and direction.

No one is saying change is bad but unnecessary changes like implementation LFG, LFR, and other quality of life features take away from the MMORPG aspect of this game. Also, leveling in game items to further progression like HoA and artifact weapons is nothing more than a timegate to keep you playing.

But what if, no matter what, logins drop heavily after the first few months?

Is it always attributable to a gripe list or do people leave for a myriad of reasons?

As I am fond of saying - I no longer play my favorite games. They’re in the past. Quitting doesn’t necessarily imply the game is in bad shape.

You’re just citing certain places reviews of them and not actual player polls. Many of those people don’t even play it long enough to realize what’s wrong. They are just people who are paid to try games and review them. Look at metacritic user review.

I’ve always hoped Blizzard tracks relevant metrics to gauge game performance and people happiness levels. GD forums almost never speaks for me.

I have changes I would like to see but there is enough game that I play what I like. I wish the game was an open world solo gamers delight!!! But, I know Blizzard must appeal to lots of folks and that is all good.

quoting gaming sites like they are legit, rofl

Next you are gonna tell us that The Last Jedi was a bold masterpiece!

Historically, they always do. Granted, WoD was by far the worst, but we don’t get to see sub numbers anymore.

So the question is, is the BFA drop off worse or better than normal?

Yeah I’m sorry, but that’s just a really disengenous thing to say.

People complained about Legion Legendaries because they didn’t get their BiS, is NOT nearly the same thing as people complaining that the ENTIRE azerite system is a complete cockup, with people not even able to figure out what the hell is BiS, which items to keep hence carrying 20 peices in their bag because you keep nerfing/buffing all over the place every second week, and generally not having gear that is fun or interesting to acquire.

I just don’t see how you can even compare two expansions, for which the complaints for are completely and utterly of a different nature.

People were complaining about legion because they wanted it fine tuned. People are complaining now because they literally cannot stand playing your expansion.

Do you see the nuance there?

I’m willing to bet my house that you have less players in the game subscribed now, then you did at this exact moment in time during Legion.

I remember all of them and plenty of negativity in each. That doesn’t mean you can’t recognize that this is one of the least popular expansions in the history of the game. We can look at our friends list + know how often we ourselves log in or care about this expansion compared to previous ones.

Trying to pretend BfA is anything other than one of the least popular expansions in the games history would require a significant level of delusion or intellectual dishonesty.

We felt it and saw it in WoD. We see it now. We’re not blind. To be fair, this one isn’t over so it could potentially make a comeback. WotLK was kind of blah to me and I quit during Naxx, but came back just before trial came out and ended up playing more and raiding more in that expansion than any other. I kind of doubt BfA will make that much of a combeback, but you never know.

Complete nonsense. We can talk about things we liked in Legion vs. BfA IE: the gigantic pile of garbage that is say, holy paladin design in BfA vs. Legion without that meaning we forgot all the things we hated about Legion. Artifact progression sucked for alts and alt specs for most of Legion. Legendary design and RNG was terrible throughout the entirety of Legion. You didn’t even add the currency system for it until after it no longer mattered to most people. Titanforging continues to be a huge mistake. We all still remember.

Nobody has forgotten anything. We compare and contrast. Nothing was universally hated or loved in any expansion. This one is a larger overall negative than most past expansions. It makes perfect sense to compare the things you hate most in this expansion to alternatives you liked better in whatever previous expansion you want to compare it to.

Totally off-topic, but I’m glad we can like blue posts now.

EDIT: Also off-topic, what happened to your icon??

The difference was that legion had fun content and you were able to get noticeably stronger as your artifact leveled up, BFA and azerite do not.
