Get an Early Look at Hero Talents for Druid, Hunter, Mage, and Priest

Other than Frostfire Mastery, which sucks, this tree is a dream come true to me.
Like, it’s simply beautiful. /chef’s kiss.
Of course, from a frost mage’s perspective.

For a Fire mage, it needs some serious work, as many pointed above.

Oracle is not the Holy Priest DPS option I wanted, so no comments on that.

Dark Ranger is kind of a mess for MM. Resetting AS back-to-back will be awkward.
At least we get some constant self-healing.

Grove druid is a turnoff. I don’t want to deal with treants as Balance.

One of the talents has you summoning undead dogs. You can argue that Death is a part of nature, but Undeath is very decidedly not.

I gotta say it. I think there’s this outdated mentality about priests where you can sit safely on the sidelines and cast a feather.

That’s never the situation in dungeons or raids. Mobility = quality of life. I always feel like so much of the dungeon design is based on quick movements and positioning. I think it’s high time priests got some more mobility.

I was hoping for something more like Ascension WoW when it came to talents. I have zero interest in any of this.

By the way, grats to whomever spellchecked that mess…you missed some things. It’s just an embarrassment for a company of this size to consistently put out content with simple errors.

Also: if these talents are all about class fantasy why on earth are all of the druid ones based on night elf fantasy?

Where’s the anshe stuff? We need druid flavor beyond night elves. :frowning:

The priest tree is honestly pretty bad, especially compared to the Druid one.

You are replacing an extremely powerful ability, for a random RNG mechanic. I would have liked it more if it was similar to the Loa from shadowlands(Where the buffs are specific to each spec type)

Like is it seriously worth it to get rid of PI just to get 5% mana back on a 1 minute cooldown? I really hope that they give us more info on how this works because it sounds underwhelming

It’s super hard to really tell how good dark Ranger will be for marksman considering how bad clunky it is and that you and your pet getting damage buff doesn’t scale with Lone Wolf at all. So I’m not sure how to really look at that.
Balance tree has some interesting stuff but flat damage/healing increase talents SUCK. The oracle tree is insanely not fun.
Frostfire is the only tree that looks useful out the gate but only in m+. I can’t see this ever being used in single target for fire. Also not a fan of buffs that can’t be refreshed.

“We are Forsaken.”

I like that they came up with Solace and thought “Yeah this is definitely going to get used over the 10% damage buffs”

When your major cooldown, that gives you almost unlimited Aimed Shots, is active you get faster ticks of Black Arrow and more resets of Aimed Shot… are you kidding? Can we get someone that actually cares about MM and how it plays to design the class?

And as many have stated, Dark Ranger doesn’t fit BM’s lore. Or more so it’s the other way around, animals don’t get along with the supernatural.

I think the “BM” aspect is more in shadow beasts then actual animals. Then there is also the idea that some of these titles are just so the player can tell what they are going for, theme wise, but don’t match all races. Like Dark Rangers I think more Forsaken and possibly Blood Elves, Sentinel scream Night Elf, etc.

I have to agree. These hero talent systems aren’t grabbing me.

What I see is overly complex game play design.

Blizz still wants to make each fight last a certain amount of time. Sooo, adding a whole lot of extra ‘stuff’ to get the same percentage of damage or whatever out isn’t exactly interesting to me.

If building out deeper class fantasies is what they’re after maybe just add more specs.

Not feeling these at all.

Too much added bloat whether it’s new buttons or stacking buffs to track. Not looking forward to figuring out new keybinds or setting up TellMeWhen / WeakAuras to track and respond appropriately to even more reactive layers.

The Priest Oracle tree honestly reads like an April Fool’s joke, especially once you watch the video on how the Premonition wheel mechanic works. The other trees aren’t much better, either.

The most interesting bits are the passives that just have you healing more, doing more damage or taking less damage.

I empathize that some people will find passives boring, and some people will find bloat hideous. Seems like a lose/lose situation with these “Hero” trees.

I’d rather unlock a cosmetic option with no player power element when I level up than 90% of this. :woman_shrugging:

I genuinely like the oracle and frostfire ones.

But is anybody else bummed about these druid ones? It’s like they just redid the specs we already have but made them more elune and night elf oriented.

How the heck will this feel good for tauren, trolls, kultirans or worgen?

I’m more interested in Pack Leader.

Animals are friends.

It’s like we asked for flavor and they gave salt and pepper.

Yup. Would have been nice to know that wasn’t coming this time around.

So do we just not get any actual interview or anything about druid? What is legit going on with those class devs?

Devs plural?

I think you mean that one dev who, fittingly to a Druid, occasionally shapeshifts into the Druid class dev temporarily to put out the fires once or twice a year.

Of the new ones I like the druid one, but I’m not enchanted by it. It looks good but I won’t reroll balance resto over it yet. It reminds of me of the warrior one where I thought that looks cool but I don’t play that class and I probably won’t swap for this.

Frostfire looks cracked and I would consider playing mage if it stays as is since it just looks cool. I am considering playing my mage because frostfire is cooking.

Dark ranger also looks good but it is also the most hilariously lopsided in the favor of one of the two specs hero trees we’ve seen. In this case toward mm as basically everything this tree does is elevate mm from that thing it is right now into a ranged survival hunter fresh from the grave. Makes me want to play mm again mm/10.

The priest tree is 100% going to be the most changed of the ones we’ve seen so far. That buff system gave me the same vibes I got when I first heard of covenant abilities ie just the layman overview of it sounds like it just won’t work as intended. I predict that at the very least the 10% phys magic buffs will just combine the healing taken buff will be changed into a healing done and healing taken and the buff will be made more deterministic as it has to be, buffs like this have to be predictable to function because the whole point of them is cooldown stacking. You can’t have roll the power infusion and expect people to run it in content that requires consistency, in its absolute best case scenario you have it being used on big cooldown class every pull hoping for a high roll so you can maybe push a phase but in worst case you just have holy and disc will use the other one 95% of the time.
