Genn just hands away the kingdom?

Considering we don’t know how long he’s thought about it, because it’s just one questline, plus it’s his more than capable daughter who has the sense to do it while he helps run the Alliance… I don’t see the issue.

Mal and Tyrande gave leadership over to Shandris, too.

This is literally what y’all asked for: new leadership because the old was old.

The man is practically ancient. He should have retired a long time ago but couldn’t due to circumstances. Now Tess can deal with the nightmare that is Alliance politics while Genn takes a nice long vacation with his wife someone nice.
I mean he’s still going to be an advisor.

What does that mean? She’s his daughter and it’s a monarchy. There isn’t anyone else who could succeed him.

The usual culture war mind rot. Best to ignore it.

Tess has been groomed to take over Gilneas since she was first introduced. Genn is about 77 years old. And he just doesn’t have the time or energy for the day to day monarchy stuff after his city is reclaimed. Now that the throne has been passed down, he can use his time helping the Alliance which is what he wants to do now.

But yeah, look at what Genn looked like during the Worgen starting area (which happened years before Cataclysm) compared to now. Dude is getting old.

She’s Gilnean and a Greymane. That’s good enough.

Curses are bad things, remember?

Yes, Jason Momoa… because that’s who is in that meme! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

You know something.

Where did the idea that Genn was too old to run Gilneas come from? He may be physically up there, but he’s also a worgen, which I’d assume extends ones lifespan, if not the vitality.

Genn made said Gilneas needed a new leader for the new state of the world, and he wasn’t retired because he’s gonna be off trying to help Anduin, help run the Alliance, or something other than spending time with his daughter lol.

Reminds of the guy who once told me “You hate Cinema” because I did not agree with him that Star Wars Episode 1 wasn’t canon.

Maybe Gilneas needs free and fair elections instead of clinging onto the decrepit trappings of hereditary rule that plagues the Alliance in general.

I literally followed that up by saying it was ok. If you actually read my post you’d probably understand that it was their motives that I was questioning, not their choice overall.

If we’re speaking of “mind rot”, maybe start with reading. Or, if you don’t understand something, you can always ask a question like Magnarok bothered to do, and you, never do.

I answered your question but responded to someone else because they were being incredibly rude… as they always are. So skip most of my post and simply read it as “motives?” Again, I don’t care that she’s replacing him.

What a lot of people don’t know is how simple it was to get him to hand over the keys. It took the use of one word, two times.

“Drop.”

“DROP!”

…“good boy.”

That easy.

While I have a lot of issues with the Questline, Genn stepping down was NOT one of them. As a long time Worgen player I FIRMLY welcome Queen Tess. I hope we get a custscene of her Coronation. I’ll happily sit through that cutscene.

That’s more like a temporary sabbatical than a permanent handoff, though.

Wait.

She’s a better candidate, the heir for the last decade in a monarchy, alllllllll her (limited) character development since Legion is her getting ready to lead, you think it makes sense, Genn is somewhere between his 70s and 90s…

But the only plausible reason for Tess being put in a leadership role is Girl Boss Hollywood logic?

Granted, the quest was very anticlimactic and pretty barebones, as was the passing of the torch, but come on. The writing was on the wall for this.

Yes, which you only thought to do because of your culture war mind rot :dracthyr_shrug:

The only reason to go looking for hidden agendas is because you’ve bought conservative ghost stories lol

Moira will give up her place on the dwarven council for her son to take over sometime soon I bet.

He is about 15 now.

A lot of people are speculating that will happen in TWW since Moira has been hinted to be part of the expansion’s story

Our characters are getting old. Even if you assume we started in vanilla at around 18, lol.

I kind of wish Blizzard would do what Guild Wars 2 did and give an Official Timeline so that players can say: Damn. I’m Old.

Or: Hey I only started in MoP, I’m not that bad.

Let us know just how long we’ve been at this in canonical years.
