In the OG TBC my mage ran kara weekly. 5 straight lockouts and there was literally nothing. Everything was leather+ or physical. Not even healer gear. In wrath when the first wing of ICC only dropped tank/physical dps gear on our first run the RL said “Great, Celphi brought kara loot with us”.

Wow has become pay to win. Gdkp’s are used by everyone. It’s sad the community supports this as they are playing classic where this kind of activity was not there. Not till way later in wow’s life. They are ruining the game. Yet they want the classic experience. This community is garbage. But lets not put in group finder because you should pay to win instead. Pathetic

lol no. The only established people are the carries trying to make gold off the buyers. GDKP’s whole purpose is to extract as much gold as possible from fewest number of people possible so the run is quick and they can carry another to drain more whales.

not at all, I raid lead alot of GDKP’s 90% of my buyers are on alts using gold By doing GDKP’s on other toons - my guild has a no gold buying rule, if you get caught buying gold, you loose your raid spot, if you get a ban you loose your raid spot, and we have plently of people at gold cap, and a few people at 10k or more.

Even though I usually think posts like this are trolling, im going to give you the most comprehensive response to this post you could ask for.

Tldr; your entitlement is the problem not the gkdps.

1. Gdkps are good for the economy of the game.

• Not the gold buying that funds it, or the gold sellers that perpetuate it. The people buyers and sellers of gold should be banned with extreme measures. Such as the removal of the gear on their toons. Not just removing gold for them to buy it again.

These players you are lamenting that arent playing with you were not going to play with you anyways. Gdkps give an incentive for geared players to assist lesser geared players. Without the reciprocity they would stay only within already geared guild groups or quit and wait until wrath or the next raid. Banning gdkps is not going to solve your issue of no one to raid with.

2. Its complete nonsense that you cant find groups for appropriate content without the aspect of gdkps on a populated server. Key word being APPROPRIATE. I have no problem getting into gruuls mags in DHT HR groups on some of my alts who are in full greens. Mostly they just want warm bodies so they can field a full 25 man group. There are non gdkp Kara groups running every single day, every time of day, on the server I play on. Provided your gear is close to P1 pre raid bis (mostly dungeon gear) you can get invited. Unless you’re a rogue, ungeared rogues do less dps than tanks. These groups will also likely have a few geared carries who are just there for badges.

3. T5 is a little bit trickier as its almost exclusively gdkps however there are still a couple sr groups who do 4/10 or 5/10 looking for specific items off vash & kt, assuming you are at least full T4 gemmed & enchanted appropriately they will generally invite you (again provided that you arent a rogue)

4. After youve gone through T4 & T5 (like everyone else who is geared did) then you can usually find a spot in a guild that is still doing T6 and some sunwell.

5. Your issue with gkdps will almost certainly be one of 3 things. All of which stem from the same issue. No one is obligated to play with you.

• a sense of entitlement to other peoples time
• a sense of impatience wanting to be full T6 by the time wrath comes out, while others spent more than 30 weeks in BT to get the same loot.
• you play a undesireable class that no one wants to play with regaurdless.

6. There is nothing blizz can do about it. If they ban gdkps then those players will just quit the game until the next raid tier. Its better to pay geared players to help carry you than to not have a group at all.

7. Gold buy run existed 15 years ago in real classic and they still exist today for a reason.

Chill out, run dungeons, and slowly progress your gear… you know… Like everyone else did, and youll probably be in a decent position before wrath comes out.

He’s not wrong, gdkps don’t really add much gold into the game outside of raid drops, it just changes hands and gives people something else to use their gold on, increasing the value of said gold.

If something could be done to prevent gold botting, buying and selling it would be the perfect system.

Nah see GDPK is here to stay, especially since everyone whined about legit gold farms, and demanded that no one be allowed to farm dungeons, while ignoring the fact that unless your after copper ore or peace bloom your fighting bots for nodes to farm, so your options are limited to skinning, and guess what doesn’t sell worth a darn? That’s right leather. So that leaves GDKP, and you know what I don’t care if someone comes in with 100k of RMT gold, since they got rid of the other gold farms to keep the whiners happy, i welcome the RMT gold in my GDKP, at least I’ll be able to have gold to raid.

The issue isn’t gdkps, it’s wanting to jump to the end content after taking a break of unknown duration without properly gearing a character.
There’s several avenues to do that and they take time. If you have a high demand class you might be able to work your way onto a team that will carry you until you’re geared. I’m not really seeing an attitude here that I’d want to go out of my way to help though. The people I do want to give a shot have done everything they can outside of raid to prepare.

This is what people don’t understand. GDKPs or even the AH don’t create gold. All they can do is exchange existing gold for an existing item. The only way gold gets into the system actual coin drops from mobs. Selling trash/quest items to vendors for coin. Or gold from doing quests. Even gathering skills don’t add gold unless you vendor them. If you don’t vendor them, then the items can be made into something and sold for existing gold, or sold on the AH for gold that is already in the game.

well good ones do, I usually stop going to GDKP’s when its a bad payout for a few weeks, if 3 weeks in a row im making less than 500g/hr I just dont go, its why I no longer go to SSC/TK/MAG/GRUUL/Kara because for them to payout an amount of value very specific items have to drop.

I was in the same situation is you, quit right before SSC and came back a couple months ago. It’s frustrating, but instead of complain do what you can do. I’d suggest maybe getting into one of those GDKPs or maybe even a MS > OS group simply for the logs. Make sure you download warcraft logs and get to understand how to upload. Do well and prove you’d be an asset to a decent guild. You are undergeared yes, but there are options within warcraft logs to see what percentile you are based on your gear level. Parse decent and apply to a guild based on that. I was able to get into a good guild based on my logs from vanilla CLASSIC, soaked some gear in BT skip runs, and am doing decent now. GDKPs are annoying yes, but it keeps everyone engaged throughout the run instead of people leaving because they got their piece.
