Im sure this will go over well buuuut here is my thoughts and frustrations on the subject of GDKP.
so after having two seperate servers die on me and leaving the game for a time i came back and restarted once again, but this time on the largest populated server. what I have found is on this server, if you are not in a guild, dont already have really great gear, dont have excessive amounts of gold, then well you just aren’t going to get any PVE gear. for the most part.
when i Open my bulletin board all i see plastered in the raid sections are GDKP’s
for every single one of them. this feels awful being a fresh 70. there are very few guilds recruiting and those that are tell you that you get to sit on bench till wrath. who wants this??
while I have currently 3k after buying my epic flying, I would much prefer to save my gold for wrath, or at least that was my thought till I realized I may as well just once again start over but on the wrath fresh servers so at least theres an economy reset… even if my time in tbc will then be wasted.
now this next thought is pure speculation, I have to wonder if many of these GDKP are not run by the gold sellers, and then they just end up getting the gold back that they sold to players who decided to buy a few thousand gold so they could gear up an alt or something. so it would go as so
Gold seller>>player buying gold>>player uses gold in goldsellers gdkp>> goldseller recoups a large portion of sold gold>> Goldseller makes profit off of accumulation of past sold gold.
while that may be the more rare occasion Im sure its happening. it has to simply because of the fact that it seems that GDKP are all that exist in this game anymore. Im so frustrated that i missed out on my favorite expansion due to blizzard not being able to maintain server populations by what ever means.
Sometimes people need to think what actually the problem is. In the case of GDKP, most people are their own problem, telling everybody that GDKP are where everyone buys gold and puts 100k on an item, which is not even true as there is GDKP with really low bids and you can see that sometimes with streamers.
You people deny doing content and blame others for it with excuses that are only half true and blame a playermade solution on to have fun in a videogame.
I am not denying people buy gold, but that is not the job on peoples side but blizzard banning them.
im not denying that people also grind gold, but what im saying is when you are on a server, freshly leveld to 70, well in my case 3 weeks into 70, and all you ever see is GDKP GDKP GDKP, oh theres a 2 SR oops they are filled already dang,
GDKP is a pay to win wall, why should i have to pay up gold id ratehr save for the future for gear now. its frustrating as all hell
NGL you’re coming into a new gaming community with no gear and no contacts to get you going, do you at least have logs to show? If not, don’t expect to get into raids. GDKP’s advertise because they’re a place for already-established people on a server to gear alts and have fun raiding. Existing healthy raids don’t have to really advertise. Your best bet is to wait until the hard-reset on gear with wrath before you expect to get into raids. You transferring to a new place late-patch with unrealistic expectations is no fault of the GDKP enjoying populace.
what gear i do have is from what i could find, and a loooot of pvping. I have no logs because they would be from phase 1 when both my main servers died, and i didnt transfer rather i started over freshly leveling.
and @tracyn, hell no you can go play shadowlands. i might try 10.0 at launch however.
right and I get that, but no one else is responsible for those circumstances.
I rolled on a server with no gold and no contacts during the middle of p3 and I’ve managed to get myself into a full clearing sunwell guild with several fully geared alts by being available and flexible. It can be done.
Well, then I can advice you to farm gold and save it up for wotlk. There is no point if you cant find a SR run to gear up before wotlk. Or just start on fresh. The start of an expansion is important and you wont miss out and are not going to feel miserable as you would when coming back or into an expansion this late when the meta has shifted.
There is free gold to be made right now from midsummer event. Like 700 or something just running around, its a good start.
Idk what to tell you. No version of this game in any expansion has begged people to come get geared in raids without bringing something to the table. You’re decrying the existence of gdkps because you don’t want to make a logical assessment of your assets and resources in the game as it stands. GDKPs have nothing to do with your problem.
at this rate id rather restart AGAIN on a fresh wrath server just for the economy reset and less GDKP / gold sellers for a time, i know they too would make their way to wrath fresh servers but it would take longer with everyone starting from 1 for at least 90 days…hopefully longer on the part where they would allow transfers…would much prefer them to just not allow that unless servers were dieing once again…
Yup, if that is in your mind then you should stick to that. No point wasting your time without enjoyment. Just hope it will be longer than 90 days. Goodluck!
they kinda do because its all u ever see in the game you never see SR, or a recruiting guild. if GDKP were against TOS guess what id see? people looking for people to just come raid, and im sure gear checks but I do have enough gear that i could run ZA , SSC, TK, even.
