I enjoy current version of Sanguine way more than it used to be, for instance. Bursting still needs to be played around, but is more forgiving.
The moment where certain affixes are being avoided by for instance healers and tanks means there is something wrong.
Explosive was something that was actually very disruptive for some keys like in Kara on the Murloc and Defias fight for example, where you couldn’t keep up with the amount.
hey there, check further down that thread and I actually did mention that as a possibility (though with the caveat that I don’t think Blizzard would ever be amiable to that idea) lol
I certainly wouldn’t be mad, I don’t care a whole lot for raiding and that would allow me to get it out of the way faster.
that’s because comparatively to overflowing it was. what a nightmare of an affix, i have no idea how that made it to live, and i’m glad they yoinked it in 7.1
Literally all of this could be summed up as, “People prefer M+, don’t feel forced to raid anymore, and now get to spend their time instead doing the content they want to do, please force them to raid”.
You can call them unfun, I call them challenging. I liked necrotic as a tank, it was my own little mini game. Same with sanguine. Explosive used to take a hard swap to kill, then they nerfed it so you just look at it and it dies and even that was apparently too difficult so it was removed.
This goes beyond affixes as well. Remember the dispell on midnight in lower Kara? Can’t have that after the first week on re-release in SL. It’s too much for the playerbase to see if they have a ghost and hit a “dispel me” macro. How about the last boss in Atal’dazar. Why was that interupt removed? The sauralids in AD used to bolster, drop sanguine etc.
There are so many things that have been trivialized and explained away as “it was unfun”. The “unfun” excuse is why I don’t get a seasonal affix anymore.
I ran a server-first guild in TBC through Ulduar, after that I joined a “casual” guild that cleared 25 man on an irregular schedule before the midpoint of every patch up to MoP, I quit in the first tier for personal reasons. When I came back to the game at the end of legion, everything was different.
I never raided anything past Vaults until BfA. During that time, raiding changed to be what Elitist Jerks thought it should be. The rest is history.
Raiding is a boring slog. The only games I can stand raiding in anymore are FF14 and Destiny 2. In FF14, it’s a single boss at a time, no trash, and you can rapid fire attempts in Savage since buffs last through death and there are no runbacks. Destiny 2 raiding is just a pure adrenaline rush. I’m sorry but WoW raiding has been boring for years.
With that said, Mythic+ keeps getting nerfed for some goofy reason so there is less and less of a reason to raid in general except for certain items, if you care about the items to begin with lol.
Yes, we were. Hardmodes to boot. The personal fallout from who got to be in the raid for our Algalon kill is why I left that guild.
The game used to be for everybody who tried. Now it’s just not that.
And yeah; I could just do AotC every tier and stop, but what’s the point? M+ is the best thing to ever happen to this game exactly for the reason that it gates ranking without gating progression. It’s the perfect mix, at will endgame.
Raiding should learn from it. Mythic raid should give the same rewards as keys above 20 - personal satisfaction. As long as progression is gated behind a 2000 hour wall, it will continue to erode.
yeah but ffxiv raiding has it own issues ,every boss has tons of mechanics based on phases , u learn phase 1 , then phase 2 , then phase 3 , the issue is that when u are learning phase 3 u gotta repeat 1-2 alll the time the burnout is real.
Wow has phases too , and some bosses are frustrating but its way better , since u have time btw pulls , walking , buffing eating (food should stay after death btw a change for next expansion i hope) gives a little mental break. Hope Wow keeps it.
M+ drops are now becoming irrelevant, really the only thing that matters is the vault and maybe 1 trinket. Thanks to the new upgrade system, normal gear is as good as heroic especially for tier, trinkets and unique items.
Combine that with crafting and you are able to have a full set 2-3 weeks into a season without having to gear with m+.
They added season affixes to spice up the dungeons as they didnt rotate in other dungeons. Noone I spoke with liked Thundering if only for the reason that its suppose to be a kiss curse mechanic, but it was mostly a punishing curse and deadly if you messed up.
Many of the now removed affixes were removed not for the difficulty, but because of the bad design and people avoiding them, which was unhealthy for the M+ scene.
I get that you found them fun, but you were(are) in the small minority.
Raiding had more progression back in the day. Originally, progression was going from Raid A, to Raid B, to Raid C, while now it’s going from Raid A1, to Raid A2, to Raid A3. It’s still the same raid, the same bosses, just a different difficulty. I’m not a fan of that, I’m sure others would disagree, but I find that completely bonkers. I miss the days of chatting with other guilds behind us in progression asking for advice on bosses from a completely different raid lol.
