Gazlowe and Gelbin, Tinkers? New Class?

Geez you again with Tinkers.
At this point I can’t help but admire your dedication to this.

But hey, I still think they suck, I’m just admiring you.

Hey OP, will you stop spamming new tinker threads every two seconds? I get that you want tinkers, but…it’s too much baby…

You can say they suck all you want. It’s still not a good point.

I’m arguing they will be added because we already have abilities, assets, and even NPCs put in the game specifically for such a class.

I could think they suck, but the evidence still states that they’re likely.

Also I appreciate you to Meezah. You give me the strength to keep making these threads.

Hey it’s you again!

Yeah. No. I usually make a tinker thread every 2 days or so.
It’s not my fault you guys make them so popular!

My point about them is that they don’t feel like a class. Everything about them screams profession, not class.
They really sound like something a dedicated engineer in the warcraft universe could work to be. I like to think classes require the person to need their own powers/skills and not just machines to do thinks for them.

No, its you again! And…well said. Touche’

God, I hope not.

Yeah a lot of people don’t want thinkers because they think they would be restricted to gnomes and goblins. That’s however impossible now given they would’ve to be mechagnome too and there would be an imbalance.

I’m out of the loop – has BLizzard actually said anything about a Tinker class?

Really? Mech suit tanks, explosive dps, healers with guns?
That sounds like a profession to you?
Because I think that would work better as a class.

You clearly haven’t read an Iron Man comic, have you?

He’s not super because of the suit. He’s super because of his brain.

His “superpower” is that he’s smart enough to MAKE an iron suit.

Just like Gelbin Mekkatorque.
He’s not super powered, other than his brain. Which he used to make a giant mech suit.

Muhahaha!

Have they said anything? No.

But they have worked on it.
The Tinker island expedition teams have 3 specs. Tank, healer, and DPS.
Their abilities have level requirements and cooldowns.
There are assets for abilities and mechs that go completely unused in game, found by data miners. We even got Tinkers on Exiles reach.

So in other words. Blizzard hasn’t announced the class. But it’s in the works.

What I said still stands, in the end it’s still just the machines doing the stuff, still feels more like a profession.

Also, Iron man is a terrible character and I have no idea why people like him.

If you play a Beastmaster hunter. Is your pet not “doing the stuff?”

If you play a Warlock, are you Demons not “doing the stuff?”

If you play a mage; is your magic not “doing the stuff?”

So why can’t I play a tinker and have my mechs and guns “do the stuff?”

That doesn’t make him a terrible character. Just one that you don’t like.

Do you think they should be all races? I hope they are restricted to a few TBH I feel that way their lore can be tightened and they can also have more racial flavor. If they are given to everyone like monks and DKs, then, like monks and DKs they will all be the same.

IMO

Alliance: Gnome, MechaGnome, Draenei, Lightforged, Dwarf, Dark Iron, Void Elf

Horde: Goblin, Undead, Mag’har Orc, Orc, Blood Elf, Nightborne

I fail to see how it’s different than a rogue or a hunter TBH.

Think of it like this:

What is more impressive? A very strong warrior who can lift a boulder with his bare hands or some skinny guy using a crane?

Also, hunters (at least lorewise) have to tame and care for their pets, who can die with him or if he doesn’t care for them.
Mages and Warlocks have powers, they cast things, they summon things, they do their own thing, they don’t become useless if their mechasuit break.

What would a tinker whose only power is that of building things do if their mecha suit broke mid fight? Sit there and die? A “class” that is completely useless without it’s aids is kinda pointless.
Which is why I say it feels more like a profession, an engineer who happens to be any other class uses it and if it fails, he still has the skills of his class to rely on, not just his machines.

If the skinny dude literally built a crane to life the rock.
Then it’s pretty impressive.

Oh no, My mech suit broke.
What ever will I do?

Rockets, Turrets, Explosives, Guns, Missile barrages.
Also. Don’t pretend that a Tinker could ever permanently lose their mech.
Warlocks don’t permanently lose their pets, Hunter’s don’t permanently lose their pets.
Druids don’t get locked out of their animal forms.

You Kill a Warlock’s pet. What do they do?
Resummon their pet. Shoot you with Shadowbolts

You kill a Hunter pet, what do they do?
Ressumon their pet. Shoot you with arrows.

You kill a Tinkers Turret. What do they do?
Move on, build another turret somewhere else, Shoot you with bullets.

I agree. If I play Beastmaster Hunter and never summon my pet, I am a waste of a class.

Personally, I think they should limited to Gnomes, Goblins, Mechagnomes and Vulpera. It just seems like the perfect fit in my opinion, but I know some people would prefer more races. It also seems like it would be less work for Blizzard if it was limited to the shortstacks because of the mech size scaling.

Plus those little guys need all the help they can get.

I don’t think every race would work.
But I do think a lot of races have been shown to work just fine as Tinkers.
We’ve seen Orcs, Maghar, Goblins, Dwarves, Draenei, Gnomes, even blood elves using technology.

I think it’d be pretty dumb if Vulpera got them but not all the other races that have actually shown tech over the years. Specially Draenei.

I mean, they have actual mech suits, Meanwhile Vulpera can barely build a cart.

I mean. Have you played Ratchet and Clank tho.
:eyes:

I’m being silly of course. But Tinkers are inherently a silly class.

I’m late for the party!

My only negative gripe is I don’t necessarily consider Engineers, Artificers or other tech based classes as Tinkers, just because of they use tech. I personally would rather see a few more limited tech classes for specific races, to keep things somewhat more canon and to continue giving races more unique diversity. I know that’s not a popular opinion and I understand that people want more variety. I personally feel that it guts the spirit of Tinker.

I think this is the last time that I will voice my opinion on that matter, because I want Tinker and I’d rather be on the positive side on getting it done! I just hope that you all will at least consider my reasoning, because it’s not me being selfish, I just really want to see Tinker added and given the respect that it should have.

Now that I got that silliness off my chest, heya everyone! Yes to Tinker, please!

I can very much see the legitimacy in that. Wanting to keep the Idea of Tinkers “pure” and thus limiting it to a few races makes sense.

I don’t think that’s what Blizzard will do though. People continuously complain about Demon Hunters being locked to two races.

I just want to bring up why this point confuses me again.

If you die as a Druid’s bear form. You die.
If you die while piloting the mech, it makes sense that you’d die too.

Maybe you get a funny cheat death where you pop out of the mech for a few seconds before getting nuked.

Of course, With what Blizzard showed us. Only the Tank spec would use the mech.
