Gay night elf marriage is now part of lore SPOILERS

Probably longer than that. Homosexuality is seen in nearly every animal species as well. It’s incredibly natural.

I personally am getting tired of companies pushing the straight agenda.

Because apparently acknowledging that gay people exist is pushing an agenda. :stuck_out_tongue:

The fact that there are people who believe this nonsense is why fiction needs to push for more LGBTQIA+ inclusion.

Because straight is NOT “normal.” There is no normal. There’s what is accepted by the mainstream, and there’s the marginalized, and with sheeple like Candylandman falling for the former, it’s that much harder to address the latter.

Broheim probably believes in the Alpha myth too. Then again, I suspect Blizzard does…

Cool. Blizzard has been very busy being politically correct lately.

Blizzard having gay characters isn’t a new thing.

People existing and being themselves will never be “politically correct.”

When did they have gay marriage before this? I don’t remember. They’re adding relevant ideas from American culture into their games lately, but I couldn’t care less.

Harrison Jones is actually from Burning Crusade. He was originally a one-off gag character who replaced Vol’jin in the Alliance version of Zul’Aman only to die comically right after opening the door. He was retconned back to life so he could be reused for an escort quest in Grizzly Hills.

How is this shoving an ideology down your throat lmao it’s just video game characters being happy in lore. No different than a straight relationship in games, which you don’t seem to have an issue with.

No. If they push for it, then it’s forced and it breeds more resentment from anyone who might otherwise consider it normal. When you stuff something 24/7 in someone’s face, you’ll usually trigger the “Brainy Smurf” response (IE: get thrown out of the village on your head) from people.

Forced scenarios are also when it does more harm than good, as it turns people away from being open minded to the notion; by making their worst fears come to the fore. Then they get exploited by people who claim that there ‘is’ an agenda, and they start to think that such a claim might be factual.

Remember. People are NOT logical. The best ways to do it are naturally, and unannounced, like how DC handled Alan Scott, their original Green Lantern; and how Blizzard did the Night Warrior reveal.

Lets be honest also about the origins of that sentiment since they did mention biological aspect. It is factual that there is only one way you can give birth to an offspring in the human race, and it involves a male and a female.

I realize some may dislike that fact, but that’s how it is going to be until someone acquires the Reality Stone from Thanos. There is nothing wrong with LGBTQ, but that’s what the original purpose of the “act” for all creatures has been since… IDK, the evolution of mammals started. :woman_shrugging:

There’s a big different between “something they must remove because it’s not allowed by law” and “choosing to censor things just because of sales demographics” and I don’t think it’s the latte going on.

Also, what in the hell is going on with my grammar clean-ups? Why is standard spacing counting as an edit when most of the time it does not? The 5 min grace period has not passed. xD

While this is the first confirmed gay married couple in WoW, does their marital status actually matter? There have been multiple same-sex couples in WoW, and other Blizzard franchises before SL, and there will hopefully be more after :rainbow_flag:

What ideas? Marriage? We already know marriage exists within Azeroth.

Mentioning an npc in a quest is not this.

Hoo boy here’s where my issues with your post begin, even if you seem to mean well.
For mammalian reproduction specifically, there is artificial insemination, so mating is not required for pregnancy. And in other mammals in nature, mating is not done purely for reproductive purposes

In terms of other things that seem strange in evolutionary reproduction:

Angler fish reproduce by the females absorbing the males into their body, killing them and reducing them to reproductive organs. Evolution is actually pretty wild.

Male seahorses give birth to young. Many species can reproduce asexually. Some species have more than two sexes, and alternations of generation life cycles.

Many populations also mate while infertile because having babies is not necessarily ideal for the species’ fitness.

I can go even deeper into biology in the natural and artificial world not conforming to conventional standards, or we can just keep this simple and say “gay characters existing doesn’t have to be justified by biology in depth.”

I specifically mentioned mammals so I’d love to see some asexual parthenogenesis examples.

As for the rest…

There were two female Priestess’ in Legion and I seem to remember some flirting between Night Elf females back in Cataclysm somewhere. Their the first male couple, I think but there’s been other cases. Broadcasting it and shining a light on it however like it’s some big deal, seems to me to be doing a disservice to what the goal is.

I mean why do we want to shine a light or put them on a pedestal like they are some oddity that belongs in a display cabinet? People who are LGBTQ are none of those things and have existed since the beginning of time. Not discussed quite like they are now, but that’s a mark of a society and race that is expanding to be more than it was in the past, or to wit; evolving.

You can google many mammals doing those behaviors. Nature is not about the optimization of reproduction.

The game isn’t doing this. The community is. Because they’re excited. It’s not that deep.

I didn’t mean to hair trigger you; I even said I personally couldn’t care less. Regarding other areas, black blood elves and Asian human faces come to mind immediately, both of which are cool just seemingly influenced by progressive political correctness.

Well then it’s a good thing I never actually said that mammals didn’t exhibit these behaviors, and only pointed out that it was the only way to achieve parthenogenesis, and the creation of off-spring.

Well, it’s never too late for Blizz to make Thassarian and Koltira official. They’d make a cute couple.

And just think of all the rage it will cause. Glorious.
