which is telling
In Eve Online I have alts just farming Skill points to be suck out of them to be sold. It would be cool if WoW did the same. I doubt they will do it because Blizz love selling level boosts.
Do a lot of people buy them? Its $60 a boost.
There’s a ton of content on retail, and 97% of it is irrelevant lol
Then put in a skip… don’t ruin it for people who do enjoy the leveling experience.
It wasn’t designed to be… that’s part of why the current version has so many systemic problems both technical and social.
Honestly, I stop my experience on many characters, to finish zones and storylines and finish areas on my own time. I stop my XP at about 67, to save me from War Within stuff popping up. It’s not ideal, but at the moment, it’s the best I can do.
WoW 2025 is all about end game, unfortunately. It’s fast paced to appease today’s player base that want a challenge at the destination instead of during the journey while trying to look fly with their transmog.
I think a minus XP pot, that reduced XP gains by say 10% and can stack however many is deemed appropriate, would work better.
We have +XP pots, why not -XP pots?
That would work. Reducing the account-wide gains would work. They cause me to jump MULTIPLE LEVELS at a time if I do any dungeon quests at all. As far as I know, there’s no way to click it off… they assumed everyone wanted it and forced it on every character you make without asking.
Questing is a critical part of the game experience. I tried to re-run through the Battle of Azeroth quest line at one point… I never got into any meaningful storyline. I went to the swamp and I didn’t even finish it before I blasted through the levels so much that it stopped feeling useful or meaningful.
In general, it’s a systemic problem where player choice is limited.
*Whether you can level in a traditional way
*Whether you can do dungeon quests - many groups will kick you for walking off the path to grab an item or turn it in
*Which class you play - especially in mythic+ some DPS can’t even GET groups
*How you talk to your friends in anything but whisper
*Whether you can casually play PvP and still get meaningful rewards
It’s a massive pile of decisions a mile deep where someone on the WoW team decided players shouldn’t have the option to choose and slammed their preference in. Now everyone has to universally experience this system where leveling is sidelined (despite being the MAIN content of the original game), dungeons don’t teach you how to raid (instead they’ve become their own competitive bracket), and more focus on fluff things like Trading Post and Remix where it’s all about grinding for appearances or mounts.
I can always do Loremaster at max level, but it doesn’t have the same feeling as working for multiple hours to fill an xp bar and finally seeing the flashy whoosh as you ding to the next level.
There should be a toggle after you’ve leveled an alt or two, cause realistically after about your THIRD time through a zone and expansion, you’ve seen it, ya got it memorized, the endorphins are gone.
After you run it so many times, a veteran version of Chromie time becomes toggle-able where it’s faster leveling with like maybe 20% more XP permanently? Also should come with a chronological order version for newbies too, so they can experience the actual story in order and go: “Okay this still makes very little sense??”
I really wish they would put an optional leveling nerf NPC or sell exp nerf potions of some sort
it kind of looks like they’re doing that for legion remix, harder leveling if you choose, called shattered timeline…
maybe they’ll move that to retail
Yeah true I guess you didn’t only do one zone, you did the first few quests in each zone before outleveling it and then moving on. Point stands, turn off xp and finish a zone if you want to go back to levels taking an entire zone
It’s not just about doing it slower, it’s about how disgustingly easy it is
That still isn’t how it worked back then lol
Yea that’s all great but this is a subscription based game.
OP is saying they want the option to level without Chromie. How you get that they want everyone to level in that way is anyone’s guess. Try reading (and understanding) a thread before you reply to it.
It’s definitely how it worked in BFA which is what the original post referenced lol. The entire reason zone level scaling was added in legion was because of people complaining they out leveled zones immediately
That is not what the original post referenced. I am literally the OP lol.
BFA is what ruined leveling.
The level scaling was alright.
