But you don’t actually say what part of it is ruined or suggest ways it could be improved. Its a bit like going into a restaurant, complaining “this place is awful” and then never actually saying why its awful. Is the decor, the service, the ambience, the food, the wine, what? How can any business fix its problems if you dont tell them whats wrong and what can be done to make it better?
I don’t believe it’s ‘ruined’. I certainly think there are ways it could be improved. I’ve always believed that one way would be to introduce multiple choice questlines in every zone. Have one questline in a zone (all zones perhaps with the exception of Deadwind Pass) where you basically choose between a Good, Neutral or Dark option to start it off. And then along the way you have another point in the questline where you again choose which of the 3 paths you wish to follow. You get smaller rewards (as well as a fun, interesting storyline) along the way with a larger, more rewarding prize at the end.
That way you could do that questline many, many times and never have exactly the same playing experience. Would it take work? Yep, but it sure as hell would revitalize old zone levelling and fun.
Slow it down significantly currently is takes around 20 hours if you are going at a reasonable pace.
I think it should take closer to 40 - 60 hours
Or variable xp rates as were mentioned in this thread to customize how long it takes.
I want to be able to do the majority of the quests in an expansion before I outlevel it. Actually getting to experience the story.
I want the mobs to not die with 2 or 3 hits, I want to have a feeling of danger if I overpull.
I want less sharding, and I want to be able to see people questing with my not this sharding chromie time nightmare where everyone is split between warmode and non warmode and between 9 different chromie time expansions.
I want an actual 1 - 80 experience. Instead of dungeon spam to max lvl in 12 hours.
Blizz has consistently been changing leveling to appeal to the people who hate leveling and I really dislike it, i would love something like a 90% exp reduction option.
It is better this way HOWEVER they also need to implement a way to debuff your own leveling xp.
Due to how many xpacs there are, the game needed to get squished. And in a 20 year old game, the end game tends to be the primary focus so leveling is just kind of there now.
But like I said, they need to also implement a way to debuff yourself so you CAN actually slow level if you want to. That way people can zoom to max like normal and those of us that like leveling for fun, can do so without blinking and hitting max.
When TWW first launched we could right click the warband exp bonus to remove it but blizz ‘fixed’ that, and they keep doing events that give huge unremovable exp buffs
That game is dead. And I don’t mean that in a bad way. And I don’t mean it was wrong when it was designed originally either. It’s just… it’s been 25 years, my friend. If the game didn’t change one way or another, it would be extinct.
Classic leveling kinda sucks tbh, I dont want to have to slowly run from Hillsbrad to like Desolace because I ran out of quests in Hillsbrad and theres nowhere else with good quests.
Do you think greedy Blizzard cares if you pay a sub or not? They’ll milk me, you and everyone down with tentative to sell us stuff on the Shop even if we pay a subscription and expansions every other years.
Again. For the 3rd or 4th time in this thread.
I don’t want to level in classic. I want retail to be a mixture of the game I remember and the game I like now.
I want a more classic style leveling in retail, because retail is superior in every other way in my own personal tastes.
You realize the stuff in the shop is optional right? Lol.
Your use of “milking” is literally walking into a milking bay and asking them to milk you. And anyone with critical thinking skills realizes the shop exists to help offset costs so sub fees don’t go up.
But you don’t care. You just want to drone and bad mouth blizz at every turn Classic emef.
I love milk and yes I mainly play Classic because I find that there’s more interaction between the world and players compared to Retail, but that doesn’t change my overall opinion about Microsoft Blizzard.
You realize that if nobody ever speaks out some sort of negativity or disappointment, y’all will be stuck in a “echo chamber” of false positivity and it will damage the game you love even more than it is right now. Of course I’ll stay to Classic, I’m a connoisseur in terms of good game, but I will be keeping my opinion on the retail forums as I want. Freedom of expression.
Again, I disagree as I dont see how it taking more time to kill that boar or tiger or whatever is fun. I don’t need the game to drag out those fights to increase my ‘sense of danger’. I get plenty of that at higher levels doing really difficult content.
Then don’t outlevel it. Turn off your experience gain and finish the story. I mean, I dunno about you but I’ve ‘experienced the story’ in every zone over my time in WoW, I don’t need to experience it again and again just to get to a level where the challenge is real and the rewards match my efforts.
As for sharding, that isn’t the primary reason you see fewer players. WoW is huge, it has over 100 zones and players can be spread across all of them. Yes, players are separated from others in Chromie Time, but that just means that players doing, say, Shadowlands will be seen in those zones but not back in Kalimdor or Eastern Kingdom. Where they play determines who you see, as does time of day and special events and instance play and a whole bunch of other reasons - not just sharding.
If you feel having an option for the game to provide an old-style leveling experience where the mobs matching the level of the character isn’t used and the game returns to you needing to move onto higher zones that have more challenging fights, then put that in a note int he ingame Suggestion option. I don’t think it will ever happen but then a lot of things I never thougtht I’d see have come to pass, so who knows?
It’s crazy to me how I have said multiple times in this thread “I don’t want to have to turn off my leveling to experience leveling.” and it still gets brought up over and over lol
There is a difference in what you do though.
The post was about leveling speed. And you jump in with “THE BLIZZ SHOP IS MILKING US! GREEDY BLIZZARD!” - like… some self awareness please lol.
