Based and true
You are coming to a conclusion based on speculation of an animation in a fictional world.
That is no way evidence that resources were designated for DK’s to get frostmourne as their artifact weapon and then later changed.
Things like a dev interview, behind the scenes shots of alternate versions of frostmourne or even data mined quest text would be some form of evidence. Sadly nobody has ever produced any of that. I really wish they could.
Lore is not evidence of real world time spent developing something.
They most likely did those visuals simply because they thought it looked cool.
The reason they updated frostmourne is most likely (speculation not evidence) because we see the LK in legion, the F DK quests and at the time they were probably storyboarding shadowlands so they knew it was a good use of resources.
I dont get what is so hard for some here to understand
The blade is fixing itself, not reforming itself into something else nor did we forge it into something else, the animation is clear as day, that alone is evidence enough to show that something was clearly changed.
again I find it hard to believe this was never the intended goal when they went out of their way to-
A:create 2 HD models of frostmourne, one with and without its blue glow, which were never used in legion, hell even arthas memories dont use it, legion also showed us every artifact had multiple color varations per atrifact appearance (though oddly it was used on the ptr for zereith mortis, was next to the raid entrance)
B: create a broken version with different shard pieces that form the whole blade.
and C: to create a animation of the blade fixing itself.
If this was never the intended goal they would of never done any of this, they would of just updated the hilt of frostmourne, create a few generic shard pieces, and the story would of involved a runeforge/forging process because blizzard has gone out of there way to do that before.
But at the end of the day whats done is done, legion is history and we cant change what a happened there, all we can do now is just ask to have the cosmetic appearance added to the death knight vendor in the ebon hold.
They were used in Legion, in the scenario.
You cant say blizzard is lazy in one regard and say they wouldnt do this in another. How many people in the DK forums throw shade at Blizzard for being lazy? About 90% of them have said something along these lines. You also dont know if it was some sort of engine limitation or they just didnt know how to animate these things turning into 2 weapons.
I think they were trying to give Frostmourne a somewhat of a proper burial and worked with what they could do with the engine.
Again I have never said blizzard was lazy, stop putting words in my mouth.
Also not quite sure how you can make a engine limitation argument when what they did was harder then just having something similar to shadowmourne transpire.
Even if it wasent that having us hit a forge would of been significantly more easier then animating a whole bit of floating shards that snap back in place.
I keep asking myself that as well.
I think the issue is that “evidence” doesn’t mean what you think it means. Most likely an English is a second language issue?
Once again, you keep talking about lore which is note real. Development time is real. There is no proof or evidence anyone has ever put forward that frostmourne was intended to be our artifact in legion.
I’m clearly talking to a brick wall at this point. Best of luck!
Likewise, talking to you and kelliste has gone no where since you both have actively just ignored all my points.

inb4 lies saying “that’s the old frostmourne model” despite the old frostmourne model being included in the album.
Again, you dont have to explicitly say something to imply something.
Because this is essentially the WC3 engine. Some skins cant have eye glow and so on within the game.
How do you know the seat of the Lich King isnt a runeforge? It seems like runeforges are a means for US to apply runes to a weapon, a catalyst for us to be able to do it. So where the LK is could be one of these areas that allow us to do it.
But again its your bias that is leading you to “they were going to give us Frostmourne” even though the developers absolutely knew that Frost was primarily a DW spec because they designed it. A 2h weapon doesnt work well within a DW spec if you arent wielding 2 of them.
That is not a source of the devs talking about us getting Frostmourne, that is you making the leap of “this model exists therefore they were going to give it to us”. Just like the leap people were doing with Burning Greatsword of the Ebon Blade people like you were making the leap to “new fire spec boys!”
You assuming stuff is not evidence of the devs talking about or even eluding to us getting something.
I wouldnt bother with him or kell, get the impression they are trying to be contrarions for the sake of being a contrarion, I mean all kell does is try put words into my mouth and ignore my points.
You do know Tzunomi has me on ignore right?
So its probably your arguments being bad and not proving anything.
Its also pretty funny how people talk about me, but when someone asks for a source of the devs saying something the response is a picture of a weapon model.
We have also had more interaction with dread and this is par for the course. Tell me, how is an updated model a source for the devs talking about giving us Frostmourne?
I’ve never seen anyone so adamant about NOT having an optional thing.
Also, it’s so Blizzard to resell Frostmourne sword at $1500, when it’s easily accessible from other buyers at $350, while simultaneously NOT putting it in the game…
Maybe a month from now, they’ll sell the in-game Xmog at $500 because, reasons…
There you go ignoring all my points again.
Its more then a updated model and I have already explained this to you mutliple times.
Tell me in the LOTR movie when the the pieces of Narsil are forged into Anduril, what happened? did they poof into a set of 1h blades? No, it was still a 2h sword that mostly retained its original features, would it of made sense right after that scene were they are clearly reforging it for elrond to have presetned a set of duel wield blades?
No it wouldnt have.
No, it’s literally a brand new Frostmourne model that is used no where in the entire game except for the Frost DK weapon quest chain.
BTW I love you for single handedly keeping Frostmourne threads alive to ensure that devs always see that we want this. Thank you.
You are my greatest ally.
She always will. Just out to antagonize and crap on anyone who has a thought or idea that isn’t her exact playstyle, usually by being intentionally obtuse.
I suspect we weren’t going to get OG Frostmourne, as even the shards had corruptive influence. With the Crown still around and the Lich King in our heads it probably would have ended badly had we gone for that. I do suspect it was supposed to be a two hander that we were getting. The Blade of the Fallen Prince rather then Blade””s”” of.
That cut from a near full blade to the shards and hilt falling into a ball of energy the twin blade came from just feels awkward.
A thought. I haven’t really looked at classic (cause I was already there when that magic was spoken), but they’ve at least used newer graphics right? Anyone know if that HD model got used in Wrath classic? Classic didn’t exist back then but at least it’d see some use.
It doesn’t. First thing I looked for.
Nor does Arthas get updated in Live.
Classic still has the low graphics. It’s as low effort as low effort could be.
And frost was a TANK in Wrath. So the DW for Frost was so that it was a better TANK as DW.
Wrath as a whole let you play around with way more options. So DW should be available to ALL DK specs really.
Not one to one but when there is a collective against you. It does.
This is why we have arguments of the Greater Good. In this case it’s the Greater Fun.
And the Greater Fun wants Frostmourne.
