Is not a spec and I dont know where you got the information that he is canonically unholy when hes depicted almost everywhere as a Blood Dk. In ICC he holds a 2h weapon as well. Lore characters though do not fall under the constrictions that players do because gameplay is a thing only for players. Even in Lunarfall he has a 2h weapon.

Diseases do very little in terms of overall dps in wrath. DW also doesnt help that damage and Blood-caked blade isnt much damage to focus your build around as DW either.

Unholy in cata had 1 build for DW and it was killed. So you were just hurting yourself and the group you were in, which is fine if everyone is fine with you doing it.

In wrath you still have a lot of damage come from autos and strikes as unholy. Scourge Strike scales with weapon damage and its shadow portion scales off damage, diseases cant crit either. Diseases are just a means to getting good damage out of your scourge strike, blood strike, better damage out of your blood-caked blade and you dont have to put your diseases up outside of your first application per fight due to Glyph of Disease. Its a DW spec. You can use DW with it but that doesnt mean you should. Ive seen some DW blood and unholy players and they were slow at killing anything.

DW is a frost focused thing, 2h for both Blood and Unholy.

Legion, were he is bluntly listed as unholy. You’re also moving the goalposts cause we talking canonically DK’s use two handed runeblades from which they draw their power. Those who don’t are very rare. Our characters, being Big Dang Heros get more options and don’t have to follow world cannon. One of those BDH options back when was if you spent over half your points into frost, you got to do twin blade action in a viable way, though you had to use Blood presence in wrath if you wanted to dps since frost gave the tank bonuses. A good idea on Blizz’s part for those who want to try a different style. Legion forced us to a single play style, which sucked. Now it’s time to balance it out again, a thing that wouldn’t be too hard to do.

I also specifically said I don’t count end game optimization paths as my own focus is on casual, usually solo or with a few friends, game play.

No, there were multiple playstyles. Using weapons isnt a playstyle, there were multiple different builds using different playstyles. Two of them off the top of my had included Frozen Pulse and the other BoS with long durations. So it wasnt a singular playstyle and there in lies the real problem. People think weapon = playstyle when it doesnt. If they can slap Obliterate damage onto a talent for both weapons then its not exactly a playstyle, and DW doesnt even need that Obliterate damage to outdo 2h in dps with the same build.

So far we have the devs wanting death knights to DW, they use runeblades and create runeblades through runeforging, Mograine doesnt matter overall and just saying he is canonically Unholy and basing that on one expansion is limiting in evidence and not taking everything into account.

But ive still yet to hear about this DW unholy build in wrath that everyone keeps talking about. The developers didnt want Unholy to be DW, even killed it in Cata with the bug where the offhand weapon was proccing Sudden Doom and it wasnt supposed to.

Frost was not going to get Frostmourne. The devs knew that Frost was a DW spec so I dont know where this “we were going to get frostmourne” is coming from because its the same exact thing when the “Burning Greatsword of the Ebon Blade” was introduced people ran with “WE ARE GETTING FIRE DEATH KNIGHTS!” All the evidence does not support that we were ever going to get Frostmourne.

Let the thing rest in piece for crying out loud, not to mention that the new developers do not like what the old developers created.

This little back and forth has been amusing, but the constant moving of goalposts on what lore and cannon in the game counts and doesn’t count in your eyes is getting dull. You aren’t interesting in doing anything other then blasting out what you want to be correct while ignoring the blatant evidence when you’re not.

If people are constantly going after you when you butt into topics with your “no fun but my fun” signs, maybe you should look in the mirror for the problem. I will change my transmog to my worgan set so I can tip my hat and say Good Day Sir.

You raise a good point there. We know that there needs to be something planet side to keep the scourge from going crazy and eventually over-running everything. The Helm of Domination is gone, reforged into the Crown, but we could have Bolvar talk to the Primus about it, since it was his work. Send us as Deathlord to collect some bullsh*tium from the four main Shadowlands zones, plus the Maw. Then meet the Primus at the forge in Zerith. He then forges a set of sigils that our character plus the four horseman get, then he reforges Bolvar’s hammer into a new one (call it Gravewatcher or something). We channel our necromantic energies into Bolvar via that hammer, granting him the power to pacify (not dominate!) the Scourge on Azeroth so it’s back to how it was pre helm sundering. Give us an echo/illusion of Frostmourne for our transmog library for doing it.

Would love to see a Runeblade hammer as a reward, since that’s the only class of weapons we can wield that doesn’t have a Rune version despite our Lich King being all hammer-time on us. That would probably take new assets though and the teams are rather busy.

Well I want to see new runeweapons. Even perhaps if we get a weapon when we put our runes on it, that a skin applys turning it into a runeweapon. But again we know the primus who made the whole of the Lichkings armor and weapon you can not tell me we can not reforge it. I mean ffs look at what he did to the helm he changed it but still he reforged it. It can be done

Im saying to use all of it instead of cherry picking “legion mograine” to say hes “canonically unholy” when hes been blood for the majority of his existence. So hes canonically blood.

Im not ignoring blatant evidence, im taking it all into account. Im not seeing a fire sword show up and instantly going “GETTING A FIRE SPEC PEOPLE!”. Fire is not friendly to the undead and hurts them a lot, thats why we have Lichbane in Wrath that sucks as a runeforge because it basically does nothing.

Your fun doesnt trump my fun. And you are trying to ruin established lore by cherry picking what you want to present.

Or the scourge could be taken out or just kept in check by the Ebon Blade. The Primus wouldnt make another item that could be abused and be a world ender.
