In case you haven’t noticed, they murdered and buried all the original lore of Icecrown, Nerzhul and Arthas for some garbage magical robot realm that has a factory for supposedly powerful Titan equivalents (utterly incompetent despite being claimed as more powerful, Kyrestia losing in a duel to her paragon, then discount Arthas aka Anduin, all of the Eternal Ones trivially trampled over by Sylvanas, Anduin and the Jailer).
And then you get to Shadowlands, there is no Deathfrost theme whatsoever inkeeping with the icecrown thematics.
They make the Lich King an absolute joke, and break the helm and the domination/undeath magics emblematic of death knights to make some blue quality dungeon helm with Angelic motif.
Let’s just pretend Shadowlands never happened.
And hope eventually they give Unholy the abomination pet back at some point, I miss it from Legion.
2H obliteration is going to remain irrelevant as the heavy emphasis of the content as usual is M+ where breath of sindragosa is king, where cleaving 3 targets in DnD means nothing by comparison, where you are losing on scaling by having less access to one runeforge, less autoattack DPS, less KM and runic attenuation procs.
Until they equalize procs for 2H vs. DW and allow 2H to have two runeforges as a passive, nothing is going to change.
I don’t think you realize how big Icecap/Obliteration is for 2-handers, let alone they changed Might of the Frozen Waste AA-Crit giving Killing Machine guaranteed.
Avalanche applying Razorice and Glacial Advance not having a cooldown are huge for 2-handers as well.
Avalanche is not huge for 2H because it just means DW in exchange gets to use a whole new runeforge altogether, still maintaining a runeforge advantage. DW is getting more frost strikes out, and ice cap obliteration won’t touch breath of sindragosa on 6+ targets, a bare minimum of M+ pulls.
Look at all the meta specs and how many single target focused specs are used. How much do you see assassination used over outlaw, or feral used over balance druid historically? Demonology over destro or affliction historically? Only reason demo wasn’t a dumpster tier this xpac is because of the dog bite aoe build put in by the tier set, before the tier set in SL demo was hot garbage next to the other two lock specs. ST isn’t a great niche.
Avalanche is huge for 2-Handers because it allowed them to effectively use 2 runeforges that otherwise DW can. Fallen Crusader and Razorice are foundations of Frost DK and anything extra is a supplemental bonus.
The 4pc is very powerful because of this along with Cast on KM function built in to GA.
A 30% Obliterate Damage increase isn’t really all that but it’s still comparable to Rune of Hysteria or a regular weapon enchant depending on how powerful it is.
BoS has always been good at multitargets. Heck RW always synergized with it too. This isn’t anything new.
But BoS builds are going to have less uptime with Pillar of Frost than Obliteration will. That’s… Kind of a big deal.
Actually, I mained Demo on 9.1 and killed Mythic Painsmith with my Demon Summoning Witch. I believe Venthyr Laser Chickens were ahead at the time due to how insane that covenant ability is.
Dreadlash has always been good. Allowing Dreadstalkers to AoE as well as correct use of Implosion, increased scaling of From The Shadow made the Grim Inquisitor’s Dread Calling Legendary able to compete against Wilfred’s, albeit was weebit behind. When the Tierset allows the warlock to call in the third Dreadstalker, Grim Inquisitor is ahead along with the tuning nerfs to DeCon Demo Locks had in S3.
You have a point about ST specs aren’t really that favored in M+ setting. But that doesn’t mean 2H Obliteration is going to be DOA as you imply it would.
Not really specualtion with animation/HD models that are in the game.
Why go out of your way to make a new HD model of frostmourne and never actually use it outside of short cutscene in a scenario. (in a expansion all about using powerful weapons from lore)
again the blade WAS clearly putting itself back together.
When we first make our first rune blade how do we do it? at a RUNEFORGE.
when shadowmourne was made, where was it made? A RUNEFORGE.
when we are supposely making new weapons from the broken pieces of frostmourne, what happened? its not done at a runeforge and instead we have a animation of the blade putting itself back together.
the runeforges that arent fallen crusader and razorice are mostly irrelevant. 3 runeforges wouldnt really be an advantage
Youre talking so much about mythic plus to try and prove your point but in any case there are raid fights that are single target focused and there could be dungeons on tyrannical that have a huge emphasis on ST
The point you missed was simply obliteration IS looking better than ever going forward. You should not expect breath to out perform obliteration on single target or even 2 target cleave
Hey we know the Person that made the blade he can damn sure reforge it like he did the helm of dom. Just leave the blade as it was and bam we get Frostmorune and he could keep the blade and allow us the xmog for it. Done now we can xmog Frostmorne. Although I would rather just have the weapon.
She did this crap during the 2h returning threads. Its a basic of I dont want it so you cant have it. That is how this person operates. She doesn’t want anything 2h for frost dk’s. But she also doesn’t want the other specs to have dw and has argued against them getting that. It is better to put her on ignore.
Now that is said as i said above we know the npc that made Frostmourne so he could reforge Frostmourne
Yes I know this that is what my VDH uses. But With dh hitting the game Glaves are only a dh weapon so I can understand that the leggo ones can only be xmoged by dhs
They should make timewalking ICC where when we kill Arthas we automatically unlock the Frostmourne appearance for transmog if we’re DKs and if we got Shadowmourne.
He didnt reforge the helm of domination, he created a whole new helm from its pieces. I dont know why you would go to a guy forced to create something to then force to create it again. It makes absolutely no sense.
Yes, because 2h historically was garbage for 2h. And its still in that position. I told you guys and you were running around going “LOUD NOISES!” and ignoring everything that anyone brought up as an issue for it.
How you operate is you just tell lies.
Like that, thats a bold faced lie.
Because those specs are garbage with DW. Its almost like im consistent with my argument that you guys just prove is the case because you continued to complain about 2h this entire expansion. Except you, you just complained about me while not knowing what I said. Typical behavior of a certain type of group.
Except he wouldnt recreate what he was forced to create for someones evil schemes. Thats just evil in itself of asking the person who created a weapon of so much death and destruction to create another one.
And this is why I say people actually want the weapon.
I remember. It’s just so hilarious since it’s easily disproven, especially with classic wrath now out. Can count the number of DW death knights in game and promotional media without taking your shoes off, and one of those is unholy spec.
Look just because you as dk stink and your item level would be to low to even tmog mighty frostmourne. Then again maybe you need frostmourne to do more than a few lfr wings each expansion lol.
Highlord Darion Mograine. He is one of the few dual wielding death nights and is canonically unholy spec.
Also keep in mind that until Legion, Threat of Thassarian focused on strikes, while unholy got a lot of it’s damage from diseases and it’s summons. I don’t crunch numbers like some folks here as I haven’t done high end play in a long time, but a dual wielding unholy focused knight would still be viable in casual play, even if not optimized. I should know, because that’s what I played in Cata after they switched bloods focus to tanking and frosts focus to dps.
