Gold issue is only temporal and u can come to play Classic WOW from scratch now to build something in advance and humbly it is a bit irritating me because u should start from now doen’t mean we all should after all the valuable and lovely Avatars of us with gears are gone. What a waste we have put into. Why I think all wil disappear if fresh because I want to play TBC with MY Avatar that has a lot of my passion already!!
Progressive tbc is going to be great
its funny people complain aobut gold as you can get to a thousand gold before you are level 30.
the sad fact is the classic economy resembles our own economy TOO MUCH (free market). and lets face facts most people are terrible at managing money. so obviously they would be terrible at it in game too.
so just like how they complain about rich people in real life they complain about them in game as well.
As soon as TBC is launched, you won’t see as many gold sellers in Classic. They will go where the people are for most profitability.
Again…you can start fresh if you want to. You can do it today, tomorrow, and next week. Start fresh every day if you like. I’m not going to. If I have to play the same content over and over and over and over and over, I will most likely just leave it for you guys stuck in the past forever. I will find something more interesting to do with my spare time and money.
there are no bad ideas, just ideas you disagree with. And that’s fine, but arguing from a position of personal opinion being affronted by a divergent one is one of the reasons we are in the mess we are today politically. Dialogue blossoms when respect flows and we recognize all divergent viewpoints. Food for thought my little dwarf friend
There’s actually a lot of bad ideas.
Um fist of all who cares what mount someone has? It’s not even flying so it won’t even be used. People think they so cool afking with it but nobody actually cares about them.
I do support your first two points tho. Unfortunately, people will still purchase gold and will still have profession alts even if you make them start from scratch. Eventually it will all be the same. So that’s not a solution to the problems.
Strongly disagree. If Blizzard sets the precedent that your progress will be thrown away, I believe people will quit in droves.
OTOH, if Blizzard started your character at level 58 with decent gear and a little bit of money, that might work, but then I’ll stop playing half my classic characters since the 40-55 grind is time consuming.
There are 100% bad ideas. You will not change my mind on that.
The thing is, I guarantee you everybody gets bored of playing games, sometimes. That’s why we take breaks and play them, when we feel like playing them, again. That’s completely normal.
I’m sure it’s a metaphor.
Like Games, you shelf your movies, to sit on the back burner, while you watch something else. Then, you re-visit the same movie, to watch and enjoy feeling the way you did, when you watched it, the first time.
I don’t understand people that only experience something once and then NEVER do it, again. I mean, no offense to you, but you’re on these Forums as often as I am. Clearly, there’s something entertaining enough for you to revisit said Forums. It’s the same feeling.
You mean…take a break and revisit it, later
Resetting will do nothing.
Even if they did this for a time people would just abuse the money and items to sell and get gold. It would end up being so limited in use or turn into a store option to sell to people who dont want to level. Nothing good comes from going down the path of level 58 Characters
No, it won’t. It will just reset the clock, the status quo will return. You have no control over the actions of others and it is delightful to witness the dread induced by that fact. Continue to shout into the void; it may yet shout back.
It’s on a drop by drop basis compared to what you’re getting via dungeons and questing.
I’d expect most BWL gear gone by 65ish, AQ gear by 68 with outlier pieces sticking around till 70.
I can easily see most naxx gear lasting till mid tier 4 with outliers again lasting longer.
I disagree, but atleast there would be a decent amount of skinners around.
The forums have constantly updated content. I don’t go back and reread the first year of comments over and over again.
This is a strawman argument. I expected better from you. I’ve clearly stated that I do many things more than once. But at a certain point I’ve done them too many times to find them interesting and I’m done with them forever.
Perhaps that’s what you do but don’t assume everyone is the same as you. I played Baulder’s gate a few times. A couple of years later a played it again. I saved the disc for several years thinking I might play it again until when cleaning out my box of discs I threw it away. I played Diablo II as a solo game. I really liked the game and did it a few times over several years. Eventually I got tired of it and threw it away too.
Your progression may be an endless cycle of taking a break and revisit it later. Mine is to eventually be done with a game forever and throw it into the garbage
Gold needs to be reset and profession items need to be reset. Gear, rare items, mounts, and other such collectible items should stay.
That is what everyone wants to keep. A gold reset will even the playing field. An issue arises though when people instead stockpile items with a high vendor price. I don’t know how to fix this solution.
You could place a per character limit on how many items they could carry over but then we would just see dummy alts or even dummy accounts to circumvent this limitation as they just vendor everything and mail it to the main.
Nothing really “new” about the Forums. They change the Settings, but the Forums never fail to be filled with Trolling and/or endless complaints.
Now, who’s strawmanning?
Anyhoot, sure, you don’t go back and re-read the same Thread over and over again, however the same Topics get brought up and are then re-discussed, over and over, again.
It’s not. You only quoted certain parts of my post to make it look like I’m stating something different. I already explained my counter argument.
Likewise.
Again, metaphor and not to mention exaggeration (from my end). And, an attempt at being sarcastic and ironic. When some claim they’ve watched Star Wars “hundreds of times” is a metaphor and an exaggeration. It doesn’t mean LITERALLY.
And, I agree certain things become “uninteresting”, at a certain point, and (like I said) we take breaks and revisit them, later.
I’m not assuming. Just stating the obvious.
By “threw it out”, I hope you mean sell it. Old Games sell REALLY well. Just look at Mario Kart 64. Last I checked (mind you this was YEARS ago), it was going for over $600 USD!!! (EDIT: Just checked, it went down to $40 USD. A little better.)
Ah, you really did toss it out, LITERALLY LOL Too bad. Could’ve made some money.
Anyhoot, there will be Games I won’t play for a LONG time but re-visit them, after I’m bored with whatever “project” I’m working on. Call me a “hoarder” (I do this in Game, as well), I have endless amounts of my own entertainment. To this day, I still play N64 Games. Recently, I just got back into playing TS3, after not playing it for MONTHS. Currently bored of ALL of WoW, ATM. I play WoW every now and then, but I find entertainment, elsewhere and devote more time into, over WoW, ATM.
EDIT: Plus, I’m a bit of a “show off”, if you will and can never just “throw out” my collections via Games & Movies. There comes a point where you just can’t get things, anymore. Despite Disney+ being around, it still doesn’t have everything. One of my favorite Disney Shows was the Aladdin TV Series. That’s not available on Disney+. I don’t have it, physically, either. But, I’m still looking
I don’t trust Streaming Services. They can remove any of their content, at any time, and they have. The original Charmed series was on Netflix as a “prize” (if you will) because they were trying to promote the reboot. Well, the original series is no longer on Netflix (it got removed), but the Reboot is still available. Good thing I have TWO copies of the original series, physically LOL
But I love my gold. Sometimes I dive into it like that guy from Duck Tales. Don’t ruin my fun!
