In reality though, it’s the fomo of fresh servers. Give it a couple of weeks
I’m starting to think you’re right people are having fun leveling but these anniversary realms will not have staying power. they’re headed for the trash heap, thanks to terrible decisions like daul speck.
I hear you… TBC ugh
evolve or be left behind , same as real life !
Bro everyone that plays classic is 30+.
Zoomers have zero interest in 3+ hour levels lol.
They couldn’t handle the grind to level 20 nevermind 60
Dude, I hope so.
Some people already have a lot invested into other existing servers.
Blizzard should consolidate some of the Era servers at this point.
They should be merging all era into one of each type like anniversary.
So sick of blizzard making 100 different servers and 99 are dead.
they need 4 Servers total. Vanilla, BC, WOTLK and Retail. They need to allow cloning to era.
The Dunning-Kruger effect occurs when a person’s lack of knowledge and skill in a certain area causes them to overestimate their own competence.
Example:
Imagine being so incompetent that, in the same post you admit that your servers are slowly dwindling, and “by no means thriving” anymore, you criticize a number of expert analysts for making the correct decision.
They already essentially did this with Connected Realm clusters. It’s not like there’s tons of players on the other PvE cluster that Mankirk cluster would suddenly absorb if they did merge them or cluster them. Same with the PvP side.
The reality is that 99% of the Era players are already on Whitemane and Mankirk clusters today. Anyone who isn’t has a Free Character Move to transfer them to Whitemane and Mankirk.
I don’t think that merging or clustering further will have the outcome people think it will.
What are the biggest gripes in classic? Lack of dual spec and buff/debuff limit. Come play fhe better version of classic.
Im a zoomer that started wow in 2019. Still raid in cata. Leveling fresh with 5 of my other zoomer friends
Connected realms aren’t the same. It doesn’t have the same feel and creates a lack of connection to others when it’s unlikely you’ll ever see or remember that person.
When I see people names from other realms my brain doesn’t even bother remembering them because I know they aren’t on my server so it doesn’t matter as much.
There’s no benefit to leave tons of empty servers around. If anything, a ton of empty servers looks way worse than merging.
This has always been the case, even the pre-classic classic servers we dont talk about here large parts of the population migrated to fresh once Naxx was on farm. Truth is for most people content gets boring when it becomes routine. Some guilds will hit that point faster than others, but its expected.
I suggested back when the Classic to TBC option was first discussed that you should be able to leave a copy of your toon on the forever 60 server, while moving on to TBC, but we only got the choice of one or the other, and most moved on. I was still 1 or 2 slots shy of full BiS, there was still something (marginally) left unfinished in Naxx.
I thought about a 12 or 18 month cycle of Classic > TBC > Wotlk with a forever version of each that accumulates all the characters you’ve leveled. That would mean Blizzard running 3 fresh/progression servers concurrently with 3 forever servers for each game mode (Classic, SOD, Hardcore), and I guess we haven’t asked for it loud enough. Maybe in 16 years, based on how long Classic took…
Maybe thats becuase when I think about it would I really want to log the June 2021 version of my Warrior on Alliance Blameux to go faceroll Naxx…would there be enough people to even get a group together. That server was merged, I’d know no one where ever that character might be now, and I’m having way more fun leveling a new one in Hardcore.
You know how I picture your little 1 guild community on grobb?
Like those activists sitting in the middle of the road trying to see if they can stop change from happening.
They get moved out of the way in the end, you will too honestly. Blizzard DOES NOT care that much for micro niche populations. They want people on the biggest and best realms with tons of activity to spread good word and keep the subs flowing. They lose 100 subs over a merge? Drop in the bucket over what they’ll gain.
The TBC migration will be a 2nd mistake again this time around…
I’m losing hope of character copies to ERA from Anniversary day by day.
As soon as these servers progress into TBC everybody will flock back to era servers
Sad but true. We’ll keep on in the middle of the road anyways. Having fun still, and that’s all that matters to me. 3.5yrs and we’re still here. When it ends, well, it was a hell of a run. My favorite time in WoW since closed beta 2004.
One day you’re here, one day you ain’t.
