Fresh servers pretty much killed our server

Dear Blizz,

We had a nice community on our PVE server. It wasn’t thriving, but it was just enough to keep the economy afloat and people happy. But thanks for ruining our server by opening up a fresh one. I’ve seen multiple guilds leave for fresh our server now is pretty much a ghost town. It’s pretty much broken.

Which genius thought it was a good idea to open up a fresh knowing that the current servers would take major hits? You’re just breaking your own game by taking away current players.

Here is an idea: Strategize and market the game so that you actually bring in “new” players instead of poaching current players for new servers.

With layering, they really should be focusing on having fewer servers.

I feel they refuse to go this route because of the bad optics of shutting down realms, but layering is a much better solution vs. the atrociousness we have now of linked realms.

People may want to progress to TBC again. Classic ERA doesn’t offer that. Anniversary does.

Just come and start a new char on Anniversary.

Would you rather had them wipe your server and roll you back to level 1? The only reason people are playing is cause its fresh.

Agreed. Talk about over populated! I don’t think Horde will ever be able to take new players. My guess is it’s 40/60 atm --maybe worse.

“blizzard i hate you because you gave the players a choice of playing with people other then me”

100% and it’s honestly maddening.

The og classic servers will never get a mass swell of players again. Merging is needed.

Classic has no permanence. It’s a really long season and then a reset back to vanilla.

It was always going to be that way.

Hot take: you would of lost those players anyways. Boredom, life, current phase, any of these reasons can do the thing you’re claiming happened to your server.

Blizzard just kept their subs going and money in their pockets by offering a new ride on a new merry go round.

Overall don’t be mad about it, just accept that it’s business.

I just made one no problem. BLIZZ took the SoD approach and lock factions until sides are balanced.

So one faction can’t be imbalanced anymore.

They got to consolidate servers into 1 of each type for each game mode. Log into some of these servers and there is one 60 online. It sucks if a new player accidentally goes and rolls on one of these, due to their lack of game knowledge. But I guess there’s not many new people picking up WoW anyways.

Point still stands… consolidate these servers.

maybe you should, like, play on fresh too :expressionless:

Transfer to Whitemane. Era will make its last stand there.

Well said. I never understand why folks are so against player choice in game version. At the end of the day, if your way of retaining players is holding them hostage to the one version of the game you play… they’re gonna leave anyways and they don’t want to be there.

When they leave to play a new version that’s offered, well yeah, that’s the version they wanted to play anyways.

Player choice is GOOD!

Ironically, on Grobbulus Era, we had a near full 40 people taking down KT this past Friday, days after Fresh released.

I took it as a good sign that we’ve recruited people who want to play vanilla/classic era on fully progressed servers for the long term. It helps that our server is dead, outside of the one alliance and one horde guild. You really have to want to play with us in our weird server, so I’m also not surprised we all stuck around

Anyways, curious and want to join a community of vanilla wow lovers who aren’t chasing the latest fad every time blizzard releases it (no hate to those that do, player choice is a good thing)… come check us out Grobbulus Era - Searching for a Long Term Guild?

Also, please do NOT consolidate the servers. We love having Grobbulus RP PvP unconnected. If the servers ever got merged, we’d likely stop playing. I have no interest in playing on mega realm clusters like Whitemane! I have a Free Character Move ready to take me there (along with our entire server) and instead we’ve stayed put and grown our ranks here.

You will gain nothing by having servers merged. Anyone who wants to be on Mankirk or Whitemane clusters already has FCMs to go there for free with zero barrier.

Give it some time, they will come back. Blizzard really hyped up the FOMO for the anniversary servers so people will check it out, but history has shown us what happens here. In about a month most folks will want their characters, gold, gear, and communities back and will go to them. There are some changes on these anniversary servers that many find compelling, but I don’t think they’re enough to want to fully start over for a lot. Some certainly, but not all.

I play on a low pop server but everybody there wants to be there and everybody else has long since left. We haven’t really seen much of a change to our numbers. I’d say you’re welcome to join us but Blizzard recently ninja shut down paid transfers on Era servers so you’d have to reroll, which kind of defeats the point :frowning:

*EDIT: Hahaha Jarl beat me to the Grob plug, what a dang hero
