Yeah, the whole reason I found that guild is because I luckily happened to get a DPS slot in their heroic gamma group. They were talking and messing around the entire way (and still clearing the dungeon fine) and I immediately realized they had a dynamic. After double checking and realizing it made sense because they were all in the same guild, I asked if I could join. The rest is history.
Im struggling to figure out what version of wow op plays because my guild is progging mythic silken court atm and i cant for the life of me remember a boss that mind controls even on mythic.
In any case i did the whole hardcore raiding thing in classic tbc. I was in one of the top 20 guilds in the world and it was both amazing and awful at the same time. Its easy to 99 parse when everyone else also 99 parses but man everyone in those guilds is a type a personality and thinks theyre gods gift to wow. Back when you got sated and couldnt reset it do you know what we did? If one person died we called for a wipe, not because we couldnt kill it but because it would ruin everyones parse. So you know what we did in our 10 minutes of downtime waiting for sated to go away? We went over the vod and the raid leader told everyone who messed up how bad they were. The grass is not always greener on the other side friend. Im in a retail dad guild now that only raids 4 hours a week and can clear most of mythic. The most fun ive had in wow is with these chill dudes
I mean it just depends. I personally wouldnât feel beholden to people just because they gave you gear. If you enjoy their company then itâs your choice of what you value more. For example, my guild goofs around (but can rein it in), and if I wasnât in this guild I probably wouldnât join another. They are my friends, and I donât think I can stand playing WoW anymore without friends, be it my guild mates or otherwise.
So if you arenât really attached to your guild for an intangible reason, it sounds like you like the structure of this other guild and should consider the options.
This is also a true statement. At a glance, that guild could look like a well oiled machine. In actuality, it could be so progress driven that simple mistakes might get people mad at you, and not in a small way.
You donât know that other guilds day to day, itâs cliques, etc, so just be ready for all of that.
Just so what some of my ex-guild members did
Throw a temper tantrum and complain people are complaining about what you complain about, then gquit and remove everyone from everything after years of playing together
The Eric Cartman method.
Up to you. If folks in these guilds are mature and good natured, they will respond like adults. And if not? That will tell you something. Personally, I value stability, social skills, and a positive guild culture above all. My current guild has been continuously active for 20 years, will never be elite by some standards, but has become family.
Nobody can make that decision for you. I prefer to be in guilds that have fun during raids. Nobody should talk over a raid leader, and it should be appropriate⌠but there is nothing wrong with chirping in with a snark remark when someone screws up or a funny.
All business and no fun makes for a dull evening.
But ultimately you do you⌠In my opinion you sound like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole.
This.
Obviously go enjoy happiness.
Everybody is different , go where things make it the most fun for you. This is after all a game. If you prefer a quieter environment then go for it. I doubt any friend of yours would want you to feel obligated to do something you donât wish to.
Yeah as far as I can remember, Aberrus was the last raid with mind control mechanic, on Neltharion. On bosses anyway. If there are some on trash I canât remember.
Guilds donât want you there if you arenât satisfied and vice versa. There is plenty of guilds that have the exact attitude you are looking for. Just tell your old guilder thank you but I want to join a more hardcore guild and if the dude isnât a total prick he will understand and you guys can still be friends.
You donât owe your guild anything.
Yea, they helped you get gear but you helped them get gear.
Youâre square, no matter what anyone says.
Go play the way you want to with like minded people.
the guild i am in has drink raid night every whip we drink and have fun about it.
and its optional also. and it goes like you expected everyone laughs
this is when players have a schedule time off
Except sometimes it is.
Do what any self-respecting member of an organization would doâŚ
Go offline for a week, then set an alarm for 2:47am exactly. Log in and gquit, go back to bed and the next day take your shiny new gvite
If you dont know how to leave a guild its /gquit.
Exactly. I play games to relax, have fun. Being around people that can make fun of themselves, each other and the mistakes that will happen is just part of it. I donât want to be able to make a diamond from coal.
Haha, thatâs funny.
Also, thank you everyone for your feedback.
Iâm not sure if its about business vs fun because raiding with that alt guild was absolutely fun. I guess what I enjoy about raiding is a whole team coming together and everyone giving their 100%.
What I dont enjoy is carrying people and doing twice their damage.
What I dont enjoy is a raid that is scheduled for 7 but doesnt start till 7:20.
What I dont enjoy is during the raid people are talking over each or 2 people are having a conversation about the last football game, or intentionally killing the MC.
I dont enjoy spending 2 hours in a raid that I know it can be cleared in half the time.
Outside of raids, i love hanging out, and talking and being social. But during the raid, I want focus and seriousness.
If this was just some random retail guild, Iâd be out. But Iâve known some of these people for years and would consider them good friends. Iâm also fiercely loyal and I know they depend on me. So there is the conflict.
I almost feel like I need to create a secret alt. Level it to max, join the guild I want and then just raid log my main
Yep. If the guild doesnât fit after a time, I leave.
I side with the opinion of it is your game time. You pay your sub. You decide how and where you want to play. I mean, it is really that simple.
Now there is a huge point made about not burning a bridge, so you can leave without being a jerkface. Be polite, say thanks, move on. Easy peasy lemon squeezy.
âŚunless you are in fact a jerkface, then flip 'em the bird and move on.
You are over thinking this my guy. Do you
