That’s actually a pretty good analogy.
Everyone knows Alcohol, it has some horrible side effects if used badly, but its perfectly legal. So its retail.
Weed has been banned in the US for nearly a century, lots of people are doing it illicitly, but when they legalize it, despite it also having some bad side effects, many people prefer it over alcohol. So its classic.

still shows it is still popular and hardly a failure for a 15 year old MMO.
Compulsory expansions and/or making every single realm “seasonal” are surefire ways to ensure I will not be playing Classic, ever, because at that point there’d be no point.
I’d have to go back and see when exactly that was quoted. I was pretty sure it was after Classic was announced, and more along the lines of why they won’t develop new content for Classic. I could be wrong and would happily stand correct if this was said pre-Blizzcon 2017.
I think they’ve also said it after the fact, but it was also a major line of theirs beforehand.
I bet your parents just love you jaysus
In the words of the venerable Mr T, “lets not bring your mothers into this.”
The guy is a bit dry and to the matter of fact, and maybe he was a bit harsh, but he makes succinct points. He isn’t wrong, it is too early for the classic plus talk. And this topic is posted a ton. I wouldn’t be so harsh about it, but i get where the frustration comes from.
Calling him out isnt a bad thing. But be constructive. Don’t insult the person. Getting into an argument like that doesn’t help.
I agree with your sentiment. But be cool, man.

You say that as if improving the quality of one’s life is possible for everyone. Sad truth is, it’s not.
Hard to not at least jab somehow when they sperg out on every single forum thread acting like the last line of defense Blizzard has. They act like a jerk in every thread with a holier than thou attitude, it gets old rather quickly. I admit my response was rash, but no one else seems to want to point anything out to the guy.

I get that this thread gets posted a lot, and that you have consistently posted your opinion in those threads. It has got to be annoying to type all that again and again. It looks like the folks that post this stuff are new to forum life, and are just excited about the idea of classic, not to mention the possibilities it holds. We all have our ideal WoW, and these folks just want to share it with other people. I don’t think it is fair to call this guy a snowflake just because he didn’t know other people posted the same topic.
Next time someone posts a topic like this instead of assuming they are an idiot, just tbink of them as new. Everyone has been new before. Make a reply to them about how to search topics, or direct them to another discussion thread. We need to be more inclusive of new folks, not push them away.
I get your frustration. I agree with your points! But I think you were a bit harsh is all.

Before I started posting 2 or 3 days ago, I had maybe 5 forum posts on my account.

I hear you. No worries, man. I just want everyone to hug it out, you know?

If life were that simple, there would be no war.

But there doesn’t have to be war… on the forums!
You’d think we’d all have realized by now that most of us are here cos we’re actually hyped about Classic and just want it out already, and that’s what’d unite us as a community.
NOPE! Petty rivalries, endless bickering, constant flaming… this section of the forums is no different from General Discussion, I hate to say.

Forums are never truthfully where you go for real discussion. I don’t know who is correct or who has the best motives to make the game itself the best it can possibly be; but I will say that most of these forum posts I read that ask for different content do not have the same beliefs I do. I.E. they want new stuff stronger than Naxx to keep the raider focused treadmill and they want to invalidate the older content just like an expansion would. That would be lame.
I have noticed a little flaming and toastiness, but it isn’t too bad. Honestly, this forum is one of the better I frequent! Sometimes, folks just get caught ul in the moment is all.
That’s when you just need to ease emback into reality a bit.

Classic isn’t even about the treadmill, really. The way I understand it, it was about forging friendships and having adventures in Azeroth. Loot was the reward for having fun, and fun was the carrot.
Amazing how that got turned on its head with each subsequent expansion…

It really is a shame. My FAVORITE leveling experience was leveling with Skinning and some dude playing a Priest was a Tailor. They messaged me randomly in Arathi asking for Heavy Leathers, and I spent at least a month constantly farming leathers of varying qualities and sending them cloth and all sorts of materials for more than the Auction House value as they bought everyone’s materials at a higher price that supplied them to maintain a steady stream. They always flipped the mats into bags and gear to make a large profit anyways. It gave me something to do when I got bored. And I always level with skinning anyways, I could easily make 1.5-2k gold by the time I hit 60 with Skinning alone and skipping out on most quests.
