I think there’s a fundamental misunderstanding here. It’s not the division between players that matters, it’s the division between the leadership at Blizzard that does.
The classic player base and the retail crowd (what’s left of it) are only divided because there is a division of the leadership’s philosophy about what an MMORPG actually is.
The retail philosophy has utterly failed and left the game on life support.
This summer when the millions of new subs come pouring in the division between the leadership at Blizzard will end. As the company will be driven by the profit motive to emulate the success of Classic in its live game.
In other words, to quote Brian Hyland, “It’s gonna be a cold lonely summer”
(for Ion)
People really out here thinking that no discussion is aloud on forums, tf?
Your ideals are pretty dull. You never really stated your stance, you just keep bickering to bicker on every post. Do you really have that much free time every day to spend your life on forums instead of improving the quality of your life?
What would classic expansions even entail?
New races? New story? Better Graphics? Or just a new zone or two using existing assets or something? Would classes ever be changed in some way?
If all they bring is a new zone and a dungeon/raid or two with gear worse than Naxx then people will lose interest in them eventually.
That was in regards to Classic (as a reason why Classic won’t happen), i.e. they considered Classic the second MMO.
I keep seeing this being posted in every thread, and whether or not i agree with the OP is besides the point. They said that due to the mindset that BFA is dying and they are being restricted by funding on game development. Blizzard has been in a toilet being propped up by microx for like 5 years now. If Classic takes off and is successful and they get a enormous sub base like they once had back then I would assume that anything is on the table.
I would rather see them release TBC server options and then WoTLK as well in similar launch styles as Vanilla then do anything like Vanilla+.
I would also rather see them look into World of Starcraft or another MMO, and building off of what worked and what didn’t work from Vanilla, TBC, and WoTLK. Not making the same mistakes they made in the past. The big question is how are they going to continue BFA. The game reminds me of the Trapper Keeper episode of south park where it keeps on attaching to things and adding more garbage and it compounds weekly. They need to cut the cord on Retail wow.
But not everyone will raid Naxx anyways though
Really? BfA had the highest by day 1 sales of any expansion, in fact those same figures have been about the same since Wrath i believe.
BFA failed because they took everything they learned in legion and did it in a worse way than it already was. The philosophy of “first raid has to be easy lol” that Blizzard has didn’t help with the negative reception, either.
Lol nerd…
they just don’t really seem to want to listen to a majority of feedback and love to tell us what we like or dont like, lol.
I stated my stance in other threads. I don’t have the time or desire to repeat myself to everyone who can’t use search or needs to be a special snowflake on their own copy of the topic.
i dont believe they should.
but i do got something for you when im on my priest.
Deezebuffs.
spike in sales coupled with very fast declines in subs after the first month.
there are alot less people playing now aside from the launch boost for a month.

Until Classic has a proven track record, “survival of the fittest” is “Classic dies”. One of these two games ran for 2 years, and the other 15.
The “other” game you’re refering to has only been out for 9 years. Same name, different body and spirit.
Looks to be right now… BfA is bleeding out… Vanilla has been on pserver scene, and has never actually died… Classic is near ready for deployment…
Here’s to 15+ years of Classic
And when we can prove that, Blizzard will listen.
We’re getting classic Blizz is listening

We’re getting classic
Blizz is listening
They’re not (yet) listening to a game beyond Classic. They’ve repeatedly said they have no plans for that. They are waiting for us to prove there’s more of a market than they expect.
It’s gonna be fun proving it. Imagine the years of Classic ahead…
Kinda reminds me of the canabis market in Canada right now. They (government) were not expecting the market to be this big. Constant supply shortage, people still have to buy “black market”.
