Thargas Anvilmar- A very underrated character considering the history of his birthright of the last king all the dwarven clans.
I would argue Tauren get it the worst. They are basically just Night Elf sidekicks the few times theyāre remembered at all.
I would argue they are just as often passive, eye candy sidekicks to the Orcs as they are Nelves tbh. The problem is their only real recurring characters are like, Hamuul and Baine.
It is pointless to compare who got what worse because it usually is just āI like one thing more than the other so I consider itās mistreatment worse.ā It is all bad and lame. Tauren have no agency and just show up as eye candy, Orcs and Elves have their identities butchered whenever theyāre used to fit whatever the current new dumb story is.
I mean cultural identity. They are always The Other Druids, which is kinda bizarre.
When shamanism should be the dominant cultural focus anyways. Druids are in the spot that Paladins kind of always were, but Paladins at least were of a faith that was always kind of more philosophical and easily melded with other races.
Whereas Druidism started as a fairly specific thing in this setting that made up half of itās races identity before the MMO even happened. Ideally, nelves just arenāt playable in vanilla and Wildhammer Dwarves / Tauren are the Druid races lmao. The most interesting Druid lore draws a lot on the legacy of it. From Ysera and Malorne to Cenarius, to Malfurion, to beyond etc. Every part of that legacy expands and evolves it and brings a new perspective. Cultural exchange and the development of their own unique interpretation with the knowledge learned is fun and a unique concept in a setting that is pretty generic lmao. The Taurenās closest thing to a unique addition to it was the sunwalker ideology, but then you get all meta-textual and realize Eluneās also a deity of stars and the sun is a star blah blah blah needs more work or at least more unique cultural things.
The fact that they usually donāt stand up for their cultural values though if itād be inconvenient for a lame orc story in the leveling zones though I think is something that should kind of change lmao. it would, in the whole point of cultural exchange, be good to see more Orcs do what you sometimes saw in Vanilla, and have adopted a lot of tauren spirituality because they simply didnāt -have- their own history or traditions as shamans in arms reach. I think it was Drekāthar in Thrallās little excerpts at the beginning of Rise of the Horde Chapters, who says the Tauren will do much more for the Orcs than the Orcs will do for them in the implication of like, an old shaman who remembers what they were seeing another people who can remind them of at least most of the same ideas and soul.
Magāhar are also staring them in the face re: reconnecting with their traditions, which is why the Orc Heritage quest was so damn good.
Tauren started out heavy on proud warrior-hunter and spiritualism. Honestly, can we just force everyone working on Retail to level toons to 60 on Classic Horde? I feel like that would be the easiest way to highlight the depressingly neglected goldmine theyāre sitting on.
Edited my OP with some additional characters that were brought up in this thread.
Iām still kinda annoyed that Blizzard did nothing with the Satyr we unintentionally set free during Cata. That being Tyrus Blackhorn.
I think it wouldāve been interesting to see some internal conflict with the Satyrs at some point. Those that stayed loyal to the Legion vs those who sided with Nāzoth along with Xavius.
Itās alright, everyone else has forgotten Samuro as well.
Forgotten characters that I want to see:
Tyr.
Thorim.
Mimiron.
Freya.
Hodir.
It seems criminal to make a bunch of accusations about titan keepers from the distant past and then just pretend none of them exist or could be interviewed to compare and contrast what they remember happening, and what they did, and why.
He was a major plot point of the expansion right before TWW. I would hardly call him forgotten.
She is like one of the few Titan Keepers that has been lowkey sleeper at the forefront of the Khaz Algar storyline.
Got some easy ones.
Budd Nedreck: Enjoyable side-character who showed up consistently between TBC and Cata whose last appearance was a Garrison Inn cameo. Him randomly popping up was always great when it happened, and Iām curious to see how heās developed given the shift in his personality between thinking he was a troll in Grizzly Hills and being a bit more grounded in reality in Cata.
Gamon: Iāve mentioned him before, but the fact that he went from community punching bag, to stronger in Cataclysm, to straight up having a background character arc and being canonically present for Nazgrimās death was awesome. Since then, heās popped up every now and then (such as at your garrison, Volājinās funeral, and the Trading Post), but for someone whose last big moment was telling Nazgrim that he respected him and would carry on his legacy - heās done nothing of note. Not to mention that Nazgrim has returned as Death Knight since Legion, and we still havenāt seen the two have a conversation about their last interaction or anything.
Ace, Gobber, and Izzy: These three were the Goblin playerās canonical friends on Kezan, and despite being pretty important in Goblin leveling, they never really got much time to shine outside of Kezan and The Lost Isles - unlike many other Goblin NPCs from there, with some showing up multiple times in both Cataclysm and the expansions since (such as Megs Dreadshredder and Hobart Grapplehammer).
Leryssa: Thassarianās still-alive sister who we have not seen or heard from since the two interacted for a bit in Wrath of the Lich King. Not too much else to say on this one other than that.
Syndicate Master Ryson: A Syndicate leader in Alterac Valley (specifically Korrakās Revenge) who we help recover an object called the All-Seeing Eye for, and in return heād temporarily aid us. Given that the Syndicate appear to still be active, albeit weakened, and that the Alteraci are one of the only Human kingdoms that has not been given any spotlight recently - it would be an interesting callback to bring Ryson back in some form.
Tyrus Blackhorn: A Satyr that we helped escape when questing through Mount Hyjal in Cataclysm, who then leaves while foreshadowing that heāll return - and he never has.
Lucan Foxblood: A human cartographer from the Stormrage novel who was went to train to become a druid under Hamuul Runetotem. Given that humans still canāt be druids, it would make sense to bring him back whenever Blizzard finally decides that they can be.
Teron Gorefiend: The original death knight who we accidentally freed in The Burning Crusade, resulting in him allying with Illidan and being killed in The Black Temple. That said, when we kill him, he seems to imply that heāll probably come back again at some point. Not only has that not happened, I donāt even think we know the extent of him and Illidan even working together.
Greatfather Winter: So some might not know this, but not counting the fakes that we see in Orgrimmar, Ironforge, and Highmountain, there is an actual Greatfather Winter. This was revealed in one of the old Warcraft Legends comics, and he seemed to be an elemental that resembles a Dwarf. Given all of the lore that weāve learned about the Dwarves and the elements since then, the fact that we still know so little about him almost 16 years since these comics released in 2009 is strange.
Incredibly and undeniably forgottenā¦we did all that work to bring him back, and then he just kind of shrugged and mumbled the equivalent of āhuhā¦ thatās odd, let me sit here and think a whileā and he never played any part in any of the main storylines.
Donāt you seeā¦? Being talked āaboutā but never being talked ātoā and never being consultedā¦ when she is still alive or active in our world at this very moment!!! Thatās criminal. If the Earthen think Freya was involved in something, why wasnāt the very first campaign quest after unlocking the ability to start a new Earthen to immediately go to Ulduar and ask Freya what happenedā¦? Seriouslyā¦
How do you figure someone who was recently used is also forgotten? I mean, you could certainly argue Tyr hasnāt been used well, but he certainly hasnāt been forgotten.
Absolutely forgotten. You canāt introduce constant little bread crumbs of accusations about Tyr and other titan keepers doing things to Tyr which make moral questions and then when you bring the character back just sayā¦ okay, thatās done, we donāt need to ask you about what really happened or what you actually did or whyā¦ weāll leave you silent in a chair and never interact with you.
The entire Earthen storyline, also, cries out for somebody to go ask Tyr or Freya or Thorim what actually happened. Not fragments of a logā¦ Tyr and Freya and Thorim are alive, active, doing thingsā¦ right now, in our world. This very instant. But absolutely zero main campaign steps that ever acknowledge their existence. Not one. Not even a rumor or a hint.
forgotten

Something thatās forgotten isnāt remembered or considered.
Tyr is not forgotten.
Ok, but what you are describing isnāt forgotten, it is misused which I would agree Tyr has been misused. But he is hardly forgotten.
What a bizarre gate-keeping routine you haveā¦ typing out a pronunciation guide from a dictionary hasnāt changed what I typed one bit. No wonder you have thousands of posts.
ā¦ Itās gatekeeping to use words properly now?
Iām literally agreeing with your premise, just clarifying that āmisusedā and āforgottenā are not the same or even similar words.
Maybe you need to relax on the aggro a bit.
At this point Iām convinced itās either a language barrier thing or theyāre a troll.
