It’s simple you should use it because you have too. Regardless of how you want to play the game. This is the problem with these exploits added into the game. I call this addon for what it really is an exploit.
Here is an example. I want to play Classic because of the gaming experience and hate Retail. The people using LFG will level faster, gear faster and start ganking you who chose not to use it. Therefor if you want to be able to play the game and be competitive and stay ahead of the lvl gear curve to avoid ganking. You are forced to use this with the rest of them.
This is why it is game breaking. Hey lets not use the thing that gives me an advantage over other people in a game where getting lvls and gear fast make an infinite difference.
This is why Ion stated that just don’t use addons like these isn’t enough!!! They have to be removed because everyone will feel forced to use them. Which you are! To say otherwise is foolish.
Why would you lvl and gear slower then some idiot hitting 1 key? To only be farmed and ganked cause he chooses and addon? Of course you wouldn’t.
So it’s an exploit that must go. Either use it or be left behind and suffer for not using it. Of course Blizzard can step in and disable it so we can enjoy Classic too!
So, the reason people are against this addon is because they want people making groups to go on blind faith when adding group members and just accept whatever happens as “the vanilla way”?
I don’t recall Vanilla wow being like that at all. I’m pretty sure people expected a certain level of competence at times. I mean, I know this sounds horribly elitest, but sometimes you want to put together a solid group of experienced players.
Well this has been removed so it looks like the good guys win again. You will NOT be able to look at someone’s talents in Classic, you will just have to take their word for just like it was and should be
I think you (and others) might be reading too much into this. Having an addon that connects you with other people who are looking for a dungeon isn’t an addon that plays the game for you. Having an addon that moves your character between waypoints or automatically uses an interrupt when it detects your target is casting certain spells would be more of an example of addons that they would prevent.
If you don’t want to use the addon, don’t use it. You’ll be fine
not only that , People are afraid that the addon will change with the time , and its gonna be easy to track other people that using the addon and those people will easy find group and invite between each other. if you not using the addon you wont see those msgs. so for example if they are 5 pug raids but all of them using the addon and you dont have the addon you wont see any raids because its between those people with the addon. thats gonna force more people to get the addon too
I’ll be using a threat meter and maybe some sort of deadly boss mods & healing add-on if there is such a thing for classic, that’s it. I don’t care what other people use and won’t reply to any LFG messages that appear automated in any way.
You obviously don’t know how the addon works. Watch a video posted where MRGM shows how it works. You probably were not around when MMORPGs didn’t have (or promote) automated Dungeon Finder tools (especially ones integrated into the game), so you don’t know why it’s crucial for the Classic experience for things like this not to exist. The ClassicLFG addon will, essentially, be hands-free and form groups for you, without you having to communicate with anyone.
In Vanilla it was the player not the spec that mattered, and that’s the whole point. Warriors could tank as arms/fury, priests could heal as shadow, pallys could heal as ret, etc. You are well within the spirit of vanilla to remove someone based on performance but not on spec alone. Hope this helps.
If a ret/holy pally or an spriest answered an LF heals in chat would that add-on reject them because the add-on put both of those classes as “DPS” based on highest talent tree ?
The author has a discord set up. It seems like the talents functionality was never even implemented but was an “idea” to add later. Much like atunements and such. I believe you can find the discord by searching ClassicLFG.
Anyone making a group should be able to decline to invite anyone for any reason.
Not saying I would personally, but you’re making an unwritten rule up that I have to accept anyone who is technically attempting to play a role, even if it’s not a traditional build. That’s still my choice to invite them or not, with or without an add-on.
