but it shouldnt be done by automatic system…
i’m not a streamer >.>
That’s true in Classic only if I volunteer the information. There is no way for you to know my talent tree unless I tell you. That’s how Classic worked.
20/31/0 is a “traditional” build for pally.
I could easily heal but that add-on puts me in “TANK” because of more points in the Prot tree
That add-on is not taking into account that various builds could do multiple jobs
Last time I checked, options were not forced. Pretty sure optional means you have to make the choice. This includes installing said addon.
The more you know:stars:
they wont care you dont want it i do.nothing will be dont about it.
also the term classic experience is overrated.
if a huge % of the player community doesnt want it , it has to be change.
I think you are letting over speculation of what might happen force you into a perspective of thinking you can dictate how others play the game. Maybe here’s some points for consideration…
-
Group finder addons came into existence in Vanilla WoW. People had and used them. The scenario you describe did not happen. I found groups in both fashions, though personally I had a strong preference towards the addon because it made it much easier to find what I was looking for.

Not everybody will use the addon. Back in Classic there were many people who chose not to use addons entirely! It was some times a struggle in raids because people would miss cues, but we made it work.
You’re basically worried that everybody will do a thing, and so you too will have to do a thing even though you don’t want to do a thing. I don’t think it’s going to be as bad as you think, but maybe wait until it is a problem before you get so invested in it.
It depends on the addon and whether or not that addon has become so popular that it becomes part of the fabric. That’s from the game director himself, so it’s not as simple as don’t use it.
The code that the author said would be changed? That code?
sometimes we have to act early before its too late , lets be honest if that addon evolve into something that creates its own community , for example 80% using the addon the other 20% wont have access to those 80% of people… there was addons in vanilla ik , but it shouldnt effect every1s gameplay…
No…the code that will stay and a toggle added.
My 20/31/0 pally spec will label me as “TANK” even though I can heal dungeons just fine
That talent tree parser is not taking into account that in vanilla talent builds could do more than 1 job
A pure dps class (hunter, rogue) is DPS no matter what their talent tree
Not so for druids, priest, pally
Huh, so there isn’t
Blizzard
Q. Will there be an Armory for WoW Classic?
A. There was no Armory for World of Warcraft until the Burning Crusade. If you wanted to know more about a player’s gear before you invited them to your party, you had to meet them in the world and physically inspect them (and you couldn’t inspect players of the opposite faction until 2.4). You couldn’t see their spec or talent builds when you inspected them, either. To maintain that same dynamic, we won’t have an Armory or profile pages for WoW Classic at launch.
Again, I think you’re drastically over exaggerating the result, then using it to suggest that all addons of this nature should be disabled. There’s a logical fallacy at play here that I can’t remember the name of, but basically, an example would be something like:
“People who drive cars can sometimes die due to accidents. People who drive cars will eventually die so we should stop cars from being driven and force people to walk everywhere because it’s much safer.”
You let the fear of something that could happen (but is highly unlikely to) drive you to make a blanket generalization for why something shouldn’t exist in the first place. You can do this with literally anything. I’m sure if you try hard enough you could argue that adorable puppies should be outlawed.
Sure, such an add on could take over the entire community… but it probably won’t. Additionally, we have historical reference because such an addon didn’t dominate the community when it came out in Vanilla. There is a very high chance you are safe to not use the addon if you don’t want to.
If, this go around, the addon does become required, and Blizzard does feel it has a detrimental effect on gameplay, they may get involved. If they do, there are other solutions besides banning the addon. Maybe that’s where they will go, or perhaps they will do something else entirely, but it’s just one of those things were the end result isn’t so catastrophic, nor is it so likely to happen, that we need to be overly worried about it before the game is even released.
There’s more than enough time between now and when this could even begin to approach it being a problem that you might even change your opinion on how you want to find groups in classic
While I’ve been sitting here reading this thread, another 200 people have downloaded the addon.
Your advertising campaign is working.
Do you think with so many people in opposition that it would be an issue? The addon only works with those who have it installed.
It is as simple as dont use it. Its only a thing for those who do.
it was 14-15 years ago , the techs right now are way more …evolved?
I didn’t want to get it, but I got the addon, I had to, it just makes finding group too easy, I would be at a massive disadvantage without it.
Now just like in retail I can run dungeon without a word spoken and expect decline spam if I don’t run a meta class since people will be lining up with this addon.
THATS THE PROBLEM!!
Nobody forces me to do anything.
You want groups - make some friends. It’s really not hard.
