That is a table with static labels. I could change that to “fubar” and it wouldn’t break the code.
The code is the classiclfg.role.dps that is set in player.lua
and if that code serves both retail and classic that table would have all possibilities.
Forced to use it in much the same way that players are forced to use LFD to find dungeon groups in retail. Sure, you could try to find groups in chat, but good luck with that when everyone else is just clicking a button and getting groups automatically.
Don’t use it, if you ever get an insta invite that person is using the cursed addon, do yourself a favor add them to your /ignore. After that tell everyone in /world that they are using so we can /ignore them too. Apparently while looking for people, we can add #NoClassicLFG to make the addon ignore us. Hopefully blizz bans this, but if not we need to do our part!
Don’t use it, I will be tanking and most likely using the addon to group with people who then ask why I’m not heading for the dungeon. I will respond accordingly, “how much you paying?”
Alienating people for playing the game different then you, not only alienating, but going out of your way to try to get other people to alienate others for doing things different then you.
The community and how it interacts with itself is a huge determining factor in whether Classic succeeds or fails. If it’s full of trolls, jerks, and retailers who just can’t let go of retail WoW, then I don’t see Classic lasting long. I intend to alienate retailers who can’t let go of their modern features just as I intend to alienate ninjas and jerks.
People are going to discriminate when it comes to making groups whether an addon helps them do it faster or not.
WoW is a competitive MMORPG. It’s not designed to cater to experimentation, although it does allow for it if you find like-minded people to experiment with you.
Generally, as the game’s difficulty scales up in the level 60 dungeons and raids, there is much, much less room for flexibility and much bigger demand for specified builds. That’s how the game is designed. You are welcome to test yourself, but you need to find people who are willing to accomodate you. There is no mandate to accommodate anyone in this game.
It’s up to you to fit in with a group. It’s not up to the group to fit you in.
I am neither for or against the addon, but someone who doesnt want to share their talents is shady.
I understand that the dungeons arent really hard or what not, but I would rather not carry a 11/6/9 rogue through a dungeon because “my talent tree fits the way i like to play”.
I understand thats excluding people, but I dont want to be stuck in the dungeon an extra 30 minutes because someone wants to be a special snowflake.
I mean, even without the addon I will ask people what spec they are before potentially inviting them.
It did, more or less. Lua 5.0 was released in early 2003, and that was a pretty big deal for it back then. We’re currently on 5.3 since early 2015 and it’s mostly gotten more streamlined and adjusted simply to keep up with certain standard changes over the years.
The API on the other hand, which I think is what you actually should have said, has changed quite a bit. As in it is significantly more limiting than it was in 2004.
Classic LFG is going to get broken. Quit your whining retail babies. Wanna play a game that automates everything? Well then Classic isn’t fooooooor yooooooo
Come into the dungeon as some prot holy what they call dps hybrid.
I can imagine some people wont want people knowing they are feral, or enhance, or ret cause of the stigma that comes with that but those specs dont bother me.
It is the off the wall specs that get me.
I am not saying dont play the game the way you want to, but dont “what i view as dragging me down” with you
