Forced to use LFG addon?

I am not using the addon, and I am primarily only levling within a group of friends.

It could be argued that what I am doing is more toxic then the add on because im not including other people at all.

People play their own way, play your way and move on.

I can agree with that to an extent, and you are correct, I have seen players do crazy things with crazy builds.

However, in general, this is not the norm.

Oh yes, my bad. You are right…it would be the API

The addon posts the LFG groups created in the addon to the LFG channel, so you can still see the groups being formed.

What we don’t know is how effective the addon is at posting these messages. If the messages are posted frequently and easy to read, then no problem.

However if it doesn’t do a good job at posting those messages I expect Blizzard to break this addon rather quickly.

Grouping is a core system in Classic and an addon should not be required to experience a core system of the game.

I was present as this unfolded and I can tell you with absolute certainty that it was the introduction of CRZ that led to the dissolution of server communities. Not LFG–CRZ. A single point of failure.

Again, I feel the need to reiterate this poster for his extremely accurate statement:

Blizzard is deleting the LFG addon spam threads. One i was just replying to had it happen. Not looking so good for the anti-boys.

Then again, I guess that was obvious when the Classic devs confirmed it was fine yesterday.

I dont understand the logic that this addon will be necessary to find groups. There are plenty of people who don’t use addons, and these forums represent 0% of the population that is going to be playing classic (rounded down) but even still there is clearly enough of you to make a group. Also this addon attempts to use regular channels that people without the addon can see.

It seems really crazy to assume that more than 20% of the community will bother with an addon that does little more than enable grouping outside of capital cities or that even if 50% of the population is using it that it will affect your gameplay in any way. If you want to get groups, play nice and play an active role in your community. Simple.

What’s wrong with an addon that auto-invites other players and allows you to inspect talents? LFG was in Vanilla, remember?

Well, you’re wrong. As soon as you could be anonymous and be auto grouped with glorified NPCs and still complete content, it started dying. CRZ helped, so did guild perks which created the mega, impersonal guilds.

But it was cross-realm LFG/LFR that really did it.
