Forced to use LFG addon?

If you don’t like it, all you to do is never install it and don’t use it.

There, your problem is solved.

Just ignore it and find some friends/guild to do dungeons with.

Guild runs are the best runs

  1. don’t use it.
  2. /spit on anyone who does use it.
  3. repeat steps 1-2.

Graff…what happens if I answer a call for healing on my pally.
I’m spec’d 20/31/0 and the add-on labels me as “TANK”.
Will that add-on reject me ?

Yes it does…parses your talent tree and puts you in a role based on highest tree.

It’s in the code src/core/player.lua is where it parses your tree
src/util/classes is where it puts you into the role based on the parse…only a single role.

Blizz literally said this was not a good solution: https://twitter.com/EsfandTV/status/1164608941852176384

I just gave you the code path and files where it does.
You cannot deny it doesn’t exist.

Yes, but if I ASK you your build and you refuse to tell me, then I can say No Thanks.

Why would you ask my build ? A pally can heal dungeons regardless of build.

I think maybe all these “fake tanks” from retail might be influencing you ?

No…you cannot get away with fake tanks and fake heals in classic.

True and I also have the ability to tell you what you want to hear whether its true or not. That was vanilla and will be Classic.

you denied that it parses your tree and puts you into a role

Really…I gave you the fully qualified file name
src/util/classes.lua

My prot/holy can only be labeled as TANK.
That code does not take into account your other trees…only the tree with the highest value.

So what will that add-on do if I want to heal with a 20/31/0 spec ?

if it doesnt violate tos it wont change.

It’s more than just the TOS if you had followed Blizzard talks over the course of the last 2 years. They also want to keep “the spirit” of vanilla as well.

Do you not know how to read code ?

Not specifically that question.

If I’m looking for a tank, and a Shaman tells me to invite him, I’ll ask him if he’s tanked before and if he’s good at it. Something along those lines.

Normally, I would look for a more traditional tank. Not saying I would personally refuse a Shaman tank, but I reserve the right to ask ahead of time and decline if I don’t want a Shammy tank.

Just as an example. There are better examples of hybrids trying some non-traditional role. Or even players who just aren’t built properly for whatever reason. I’m just throwing that out there as an example.

It’s 100% up to the group maker who they choose for their group.

What I’m generally responding to is this notion that we’re not supposed to profile or filter anyone and that we’re just supposed to blindly accept players into groups.

People are complaining that the LFG addon is allowing group-makers to more easily filter out people. Irregardless of that, it’s still OK for a group maker to discriminate in favor of more cookie-cutter traditional builds if they want to. There is nothing wrong with that.

Hence, I don’t see the problem with LFG addon in general, because all it does is help people find more specific builds to run with a lot faster than doing it manually by inspecting people and asking them questions directly.

the term classic experience and the spirit of vanilla are overrated terms.

Just log on and play the game. Best advice I can think of.

Crooge…I would agree with the tank role.

But for healer…any healing class could heal dungeons regardless of spec unless you are going for a specific goal and need a pure healing spec.

Forced to use it?

I didnt know there was a person in each players home with a gun to their head forcing them to use an addon.

BRB checking my closets.
