For those who hate the WoW Monk, what chnages do you want?

They could instead just make Brewmasters giant Kegs. Like the Kool Aid Man, only more belligerent. Sounds like a tank to me.

To answer OP, one thing that is awkward Whirling Dragon. It’s like a classic round-house combo but you can’t move while you’re in the air and if something lands on the floor under you a split second before you hit it, you could land in it. It should be a staple move, but some people don’t take it for that reason. They don’t have to allow you to move but they could give you a 2 second damage reduction after you hit it or something.

The thread was called “What changes do you want?”

Unless I’m lost idk

It is but your idea goes directly against the theme of the class.

Yeah, I don’t like that portion of the theme, hence the “change I want”

Glyph of jab was a great start

I want a big bonk stick like Wukong

When I was doing Zekvir ?? the other night, this had got me killed at least 2 times. I really wish they’d allow movement during it or something

I would ditch the drink motif. Mistweavers drinking tea mid fight is silly and imo the brewmaster thing was a mistake. Your fighting style revolving around pulling kegs from hammerspace and chugging magical not-beer makes the class seem more like a cartoon character than a frontline fighter. The only monk spec that actually feels like it’s taken semi-seriously is WW and even the attacks there feel so floaty and limp that it’s not very satisfying.

You really feel the PG movie influence in the class design and I think most people interested in an Azerothian martial artist are going to look at the monk as a disappointment.

A short AOE damage reduction would work as well. Just enough for you to land and move.

Hard disagree.

Drunk fighting style, throwing kegs, stagger being beer muscles. I love the whole thing.

New animations. It’s time.

I like WW monk - no need to change anything considering they usually make classes worse not better when they change them.

I love spinning crane kick - I made my first monk solely because of that ability.

it would be great if they added fatalities to monks giving them a finisher move that rips the heart out of the defeated and holds it up high having the blood drip on thier heads

I guess you can put comments into two buckets: mechanics and aesthetics.

I’m not an expert when it comes to mechanics. I dabble with the monk class a bit, as I do a lot of the game outside of my main(s), but I always wanted to disconnect the Pandaren influence from the aesthetics of the class. Not sure if that’s possible with how many abilities are tied to Pandaren lore, but I wish there was some tie in to other existing monks that have appeared in the game in some iteration.

This. Seeing that new ability WW getting in 11.1 Slicing Wind or whatever its called… Yea.

They just slapped the feint animation on it with some visual effects and called it a day. Kinda funny considering Rogue is also in dire need of some new animations.

I think that the monk class always receives a lot of hate from people, but the class is pretty fun and unique. I never really gave it a chance until DF because of it being tied to the Pandaren. I think that monk should get a reworked mystic touch buff to make it more useful in 5-man content and some brewmaster def cd changes. Pandaren lore, unarmed fighting, mobility, celestials, kegs, and mists are all part of the uniqueness and fun of playing monk.

Honestly, I don’t know why, but I just want the brewmaster zen meditation talent to be a class ability that makes you invulnerable for 5 sec (or so), but you can’t move around or perform any actions yourself (could be healed from healer though). Just seems like a fun ability similar but a little less useful than Pally bubble.

This is it for me. The Panda derived aesthetic and class fantasy just doesn’t do anything for me. I’d much rather a monastic punch man vibe over green mist & beer vibe.

WW Monk mastery feels bad to play to me.

If they’d change the mastery I’d probably play it more.

What about it? That you have to press something else? Or just the mental tracking?

It’s the mythical aspect of tea or alcohol being elixirs. You get rid of it and the monk is just a brawler.

I just don’t like the idea that I HAVE to press different buttons or lose my mastery bonus.

It just feels bad and punishes a rotational mistake.
