I would have liked it if monk was themed a bit more toward being an unarmed specialist instead of being a pandaria hero class. Overall, I like how ww and mw play, brew could use some work though. It’s weird how the tank with the least hp and a dodgy theme is also the tank that is just reliant on the healer to keep them up, not to say that brew should be immortal or anything, but it shouldn’t be outright reliant on the healer to exist either.
All of the hero trees being pandaria theme were a big miss for me even if it was expected. I dunno I would have liked something themed off of a tangentially related thing like wardens, bladefist orks, auchenai monks, diablo monk, scarlet crusade monks, or anything that wasn’t shado pan. There is just alot of cool things you can do with an unarmed expert and having the hero trees be several shades of bland pandaria callbacks is unfortunate.
Have you actually seen martial arts? It is rather graceful, which I guess someone could say looks “silly.”
If “looking silly” is the gateway for wow spells, everything will end up just looking like general weapon swings.
This is user error. You hit it again to stop.
By your logic, roll is also bad because it is even more possible to lead you over the edge.
And how does it look silly? It’s throwing punches. Your issue seems to be very subjective aesthetics instead of the actual issues.
The issue with it is the damage doesn’t match the animation. It’s damage should operate more like Eye Beam. Each punch should do damage instead of a pulsating dps.
I want them to go back to a 1.5 second GCD, particularly on Brewmaster. That’s it…
Err not quite, I forgot I want to be able to use more staff attack animations.
I don’t hate the monk but fix so they actually USE their weapons instead of just having them stuck undrawn on the back.
WoW monks lean too heavily into their August Celestials theme. Monks need to be able to exist outside of that paradigm within WoW.
Monk is actually pretty great right now. Except Brew. Needs an overhaul.
The spinning kick is what made me not want to try the class for years. Yes it looks silly and could be redesigned. Am I asking blizz to do this to suit me on my noobish monk? Absolutely not.
Clearly I’m not the expert on monk.
Pandaren have some of the best weapon animations in the game, its too bad they look the way they do.
You are in luck! MotC is going away in 11.1!
The whole fantasy is that you’re the weapon. Literally monks learned to be monks because they weren’t allowed weapons so they turned their bodies into one, via chi.
If they do this, I’d rather it be a glyph, so I can choose whether to punch/kick with a staff on my back, or go full Kilik from Soul Calibur.
Until then, your best bet if you want to use your weapons as WW is to dual-wield, especially fist weapons.
So what’s with the kegs then?
To gather threat. Nobody likes some guy throwing beer at them.
I always saw it as a variation on the celestials. It’s actually kind of a cool skill. It’s an aoe that’s also targetable. Like, you can throw your ghosts at a second target while you attack your first taget. Useful for helping a healer with a mob on it, etc.
They’re not actual kegs, they’re a spell that manifests energy that looks like kegs.
Storm earth and fire i thought was a shaman ability
Edit: in WC3
Ah Street Fighter 3 my beloved.
Funny thing is but monk class has a lot of connections with shamans. So yes, chi is just the 5th element spirit.
Thing is that shamans get their powers directly from the elements and spirits while monks just mimic them in a way. Very small spiritual connection going on but not as much as shamans.
Real ones knew this cause you could do a quick cancel to keep mastery up in a moment when you were both energy and chi starved.
AFAIK this doesn’t work anymore since FSK no longer does damage but it used to
I agree with your point and could suggest a change to the Fists of Fury (it does feel silly). I think a solid one-two combo that triggers three additional melee attacks would fit better, you know like a lightning strike combo type of deal much like Blackout Kick (I think it hits once and then additional times if talented)
