What “retail privilege attitude?” How is simply wanting to be able to log in and actually play the damn game without waiting for countless hours at the login screen a “retail privilege attitude?”
I’ll say it again, with feeling: I do not want sharding. I want Blizzard to find another solution to the log in problem that does NOT involve qeues, or server merges, or free transfers, etc. If they can avoid sharding, they absolutely should.
But if it turns out that sharding’s the only way I can play Classic, then I’ll still happily play Classic over BFA. It’s not even remotely a deal-breaker for me like it is for you guys. Technically neither are qeues but I’ll be a far less happy person with them than without them.
I think the main thing for Laeric is not about preferring having Sharding in general but having it as a minimal use compared to risking people being forced into missing out on such major events.
I do believe there may be other ways around it other than login queues and sharding. I should also note Blizzard stated they were looking into minimally invasive ways to deal with mass population around the time it was admitted they would be using sharding for launch.
just because it isn’t something that happens often doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
sharding can be exploited, and for that reason alone should not be included in vanilla post launch.
A guild? It would take a concerted effort from more than just a guild to actually spawn a shard. And then once again, oh no a couple more black lotus are spawned.
Stop pretending this could be used to easily spawn infinite resources that would otherwise be rare.
I found that part to be reassuring, and likely to mean that whatever solutions they purse, particularly with regard to the World Raid Boss Encounters, sharding isn’t likely to be the answer pursued. Or it might, just not in the way most would expect.
It reduces demand.
It’s an exploit that forcibly creates something that is otherwise non-reproducable outside of server spawns.
It’s definitely viable for a single guild.
That is enough to say no. And this is on the single point of rare items ALONE. There’s MANY other issues with sharding outside of this.
Um… no. Sharding isn’t a game mechanic. It’s a server mechanic that just happens to have a visible effect in-game if you’re unlucky enough to happen across people getting put into another shard.
Game mechanics are class balance, talent trees, boss fights, etc.
Yeah and my main point is there’s a reason behind it. Avoiding the possibility of missing an event behind that.
What I am getting at is we need to hope that Blizzard finds something that is no where near as invasive as either option for an event like AQ gate if it becomes large enough.
If there are many other issues with sharding maybe you should be actually mentioning those instead of trying to fear monger that sharding will make black lotus rain from the sky.
