I like raiding challenges, I like PVP battles, I like doing Warfronts and Dungeons… even if they would give nothing but cosmetics and achievements.
I play the game for the fun and challenges and transmogs. Gear is just a tool, it’s not the prestige thing it used to be like in classic. All gear is just more HP and Damage and Healing.
Paying for a carry feels like the cheesiest most pointless move you could make as a player who doesn’t actually do that content. I’ve thought about it when I could afford it with token money, but it just feels wrong, even if it would be a better use of the money than one boe I’ll take the boe and keep away from carries. I mean who or what do these people think the gear is then for? Their own vanity I suppose. Or they really want to mythic raid/pvp and skip as many steps as possible, I suspect that mentality is also at hand.
I will not be a hypocrite on this. I did pay for a carry to get the Uncorrupted Voidwing just before it went away. It is the first and only time I have done so in part because it is the first and only mount I thought was worth buying a carry for. Also, if it were to drop to a super low drop chance I’m about 100% sure I would be unable to farm it too.
I don’t care for the satisfaction, I care for getting bigger prettier numbers.
I loved getting legendaries and titanforged items from easy stuff like world quests, it was fun opening something and getting a neat upgrade that I wasn’t expecting. That’s what the game is all about, being fun.
^ This is 100% correct. I hate how people don’t understand this, and the urban legend that’s sprung up that “you could get good gear in wrath without raiding” (not true).
Give everyone in your neighborhood 10000 dollars and you will find that operations for all local businesses will reflexively change to adapt to this increase.
You play an mmo, other people doing anything on a server that you can connect to or receive information from even if you cannot play with them (Korean, Taiwan, Chinese and EU players doing things that then spread to NA/OCE and vice versa) is a very real and measurable phenomenon.
well, yeah, it was the worse gear. didn’t matter though, that gear was powerful enough back then to make you feel strong out in the world.
honestly, ditching the absolutely crapbrained(i wish you curse here) idea of ilvl scaling would go along ways to making me not really care how strong my gear is. all i want is to feel powerful in what i’m doing, to dominate. whether i do that in ilvl 430 gear, or ilvl 460 from handouts, i could care less. ilvl scaling ruined that power progression. without it, 430 gear would have walked over every single wq mobs, just like you did at ilvl 800+ in legion before 7.2 introduced this cancerous design decision.
Just like a thread yesterday where people tried to state goblin racial on mythic KJ was a massive reason people went horde for the mobility and dps gain when the reality is 1 class (priest) needed it to cheese the dark phase random orb spawn location and that got fixed after like 2 weeks after the first kill and goblin became worthless.
If I’m doing crafting, and have a longer progression path to do something, but still end up with something I made myself. Ya? It feels far more rewarding, than being social and doing raids.
Raiding is not that big of a deal in mmos anymore, most people have done it. (i don’t in wow, I do in other mmos.). It is not that big of a deal, and with gear being tossed out every content patch. Do raiders even feel satisfaction from gear they know in the next few months they will throw away?
I’m confused on why the OP was flagged. I agree with them. There’s nothing really being earned in just having gear vomited at you for no effort. The item level should match the form of content. WQ’s should not give something equal or better to raiding and high end PvP, as an example. That was the biggest complaint involving TF.
Forums be forums… Shadowlands has already changed how loot is dispersed. And Blizzard never really listens to the forums. You won’t change those peoples’ views on it either.
I’m fine with catch up systems to help people get into Normal end game stuff to further gear. Past that I agree… ez gear shouldn’t equate to what others doing harder content usually get. As well as those getting it w/ easier content a’la WQ’s are people who really aren’t doing much anyway that warrants them needing more gear.
The only reason i love the idea of going back to badges as an option is for the ability to TARGET specific pieces. I love it when I get a dungeon drop but i will say i loved the Badge system for starter sets… STARTER sets. It got our foot in the door. By no right does anyone who has never set foot in a mythic raid (or heroic for that matter) “deserve” that ilvl IMO. Mind you i haven’t done one heroic/mythic raid i am NOT the 1% and i feel this way. I understand people wanting the “best” gear they can get but lets face it, you have the “best” gear you can get from doing what you do. If you want better then push for better and do higher content. If the excuse is “I don’t have the time to do all that organized content I HAVE A LIFE”, then why do you need the gear to do that higher content. You have the max gear you need for the content you can do… right? Anyway this is just my Opinion and you know what they say about those.
