For the people asking for max ilvl gear without having to do challenging content

Do you really think it will feel rewarding? Like you will get some sense of satisfaction out of it?

Spoiler alert: No, no it won’t. Because you didn’t have to work for it like the people that earned it legitimately.

It’s a bit like the people that buy carries. There really isn’t any sense of satisfaction in it for them.

Why? Because something given has no value, only something earned.

Cool, cool.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Even taking your dribble at face value, it still begs the question what is the actual harm in others having powerful gear? Others having good gear doesn’t devalue YOUR gear unless YOU are also attaching your sense of self worth on having what others do not…which is incredibly pathetic.

Isn’t someone getting the same gear from a world quests as someone else gets from the final mythic boss the definition of devaluing the second persons efforts?

There should at least be cosmetic or something to reward the achievement of doing hard things. Some type of trophy.

But having “casuals” have a path to grind and upgrade their gear to max ilvl would probably be a net benefit to the community, especially with the near universal attendance issues with guilds and raid teams.

I’ve never understood this way of thinking, like, I don’t get “satisfaction” or a sense of “earning” from any videogames. I just play to have fun.

I also don’t need mythic gear though so I don’t personally care but as long as those people who are getting high level gear aren’t jumping into mythic groups they have no idea about then I don’t see an issue.

They don’t care about it feeling rewarding, they just want what everyone else has without having to work for it.

There’s been a lot of that going around in recent years… And I’m not just talking about in WoW.

No because why? The mythic player got to do an activity they found fun and rewarding. What the casual pleb got from a world quest is no way takes away from the accomplishment or power of the mythic raider…unless again, the mythic raider sense of fulfillment and accomplishment is tied to others also having less than them.

The only harm it will do is adding another grind I’ll need to do to gear out for the content I want to do. I like pushing mythic plus, you add more gearing systems and that makes more work for me to get the gear I need to push higher keys.

And if it’s for casual content that probably means a long grind.

I’ll pass.

This isn’t the issue. It’s the extra work it will create for me. Whilst giving no real sense of reward for the people who want it. Since something needs to be a challenge to be rewarding.

I disagree with you, but to each their own I guess.

There should be two paths to progression: a quick one through skill and a slow one through grinding.

People want the best gear without any effort.

Personally I have no issues if we are not able to abstain the best gear from doing the same dailies day in and day out. My personal gripe is that to earn it legitimately about my only way is to be accepted by other players to do so. There should be ways for more casual players to earn quality gear rather than pass the litmus test of others’ standards.

P.S.: I do chuck this thread up as a troll, given the total unoriginality of it and guaranteed heated arguments (yes I chucked in my two pieces of copper). I expect many many more given the extended shutdown time and election day lol.

What extra work? Having to go out and do a world quest?

Also still your opinion that a reward also needs to come with a challenge. That is fine for YOU but there is no actual harm done to you if Johnny McBaddie gets the same ilvl reward as you doing “lesser” content.

Your argument would have merit if there was an actual pool of gear and someone getting something takes away from this finite pool.

This is not a new or original take, and should have been posted in the thread you’re obviously coming from.

As one of those casuals mentioned here, I’d totally be fine with a slow WQ grind that allows me to gradually gear up with the content I want to do. It doesn’t have to be fast at all.

Actually it does devalue my gear. If everyone else is able to just walk over to their mailbox and upgrade their ilvl 200 gear to ilvl 300 gear without having to do the work that I put in to acquire my ilvl 300 gear then it absolutely devalues my gear.

If I go to pvp with my ilvl 300 gear that I worked for against people with ilvl 200 gear that didn’t put in the work I should have the upper hand. If those people are just handed gear that is equal to mine then we might as well all be running around naked punching eachother, because all gear has lost it’s value at that point.

I dont mind a dash of luck in there either just to spice it up some.

People getting good enough gear to be able to compete if they choose not to do certain content in the game, is a reward to them.

Doesn’t make a difference if you easily progress through ‘hard’ content. You’ll still be ahead of the curve, and get to feel special about it.

I’m sorry, if you are a CE Mythic raider aren’t you already doing extra work in the form of alt classes/alt specs to farm those lovely specific: legendaries, conduits, etc?

You can choose not to do something that takes 10 times longer and if you can’t make this choice, they have therapists medicine for that.

Hyperbole much? Let’s talk about BFA WQ. Got to hit item level thresholds to increase the item level rewards, got to wait for specific reward upgrade WQ, got to wait for specific emissary quests for gear, got to deal with this having a chance to be a downgrade or duplicate. Tons of waiting and repetitious content to gradually pull up your item level.
