Seriously going to try and get that which I doubt i will on Zul’Jin.
Doesn’t have to be max but I think Benethic gear was a good idea. Would still require a lot of time and effort but could be done.
Blizzard had systems like that in the past which worked perfectly fine. BC/WotLK Justice/Valor point vendors were fantastic. Why they ever got rid of them I will never understand.
i don’t care about feeling rewarded with gear.
i only care about the feeling of power to tear through things i’m fighting.
I have So much of that gear you gained from doing BFA in Mist and Uldum I am covered on pretty much any class for a while, minus the neck and back. My bank alt is crammed with it.
Guess if I don’t use it time to delete it.
When the LFG tool turns into a guaranteed queue then this argument is valid. I’ve tried the LFG tool and nearly every time I haven’t been able to get into a group at all within the time I have to play. And the 2 times I was able to get into a group we didn’t get a single boss down before I ran out of play time. Even with the queue times and supposed issues the only time I haven’t been able to complete an LFR wing during my play session were the last boss of Uldir.
And last I checked MMO also doesn’t stand for “Requires Playing in Groups”. It simply means I could interact with you, not that I have to.
to expand on this, gear imo, is just the means to attain the actual rewards. mounts, appearances, that kind of stuff.
if i could go and buy full mythic gear for 10g, i wouldn’t care. because all i want to do is to use it to get the things i’m actually after, the mounts and such. the gear is just part of the path to the real reward.
If I recall, LFR, and possibly dungeons further back would award currencies that could be used to buy and upgrade gear. I think it was removed due to the never ending complaints of normal & higher raiders being “forced” to run the lower content since they also received the same currencies, but just in greater quantity.
What about reinstating the currencies for dungeons & LFR and maybe WQ even. They could be used for purchasing & upgrading gear. Currencies would not be used in real raids, however the gear would start off higher and increase ilvl much faster as difficulty rose.
Doing this could make the currency based gear able to grinded up in quality (MoP did this?) but at a slower rate (hard work for casuals). It would also remove the sense of obligation by raiders to do what was viewed and chores.
This may not be 100% accurate for the history, but a general idea. It gives casuals the ability to obtain quality gear while still doing hard work.
I’m not following the last part of this. You want to give raiders a template to raid with then have devs stop wasting time on said raids?
In regards to the OP, I’d rather gear be easier to get personally. I wouldn’t have to waste so much time on alts, or endlessly grinding on a main in order to run higher end content. I could just do it.
I like pushing keys when I do play (more than casually I mean) so the gear is just a means to an end. I just raid because I have to, in order to get the items I need to do the damage I need. If I could skip all that I’d be happy.
this would be the best system, a return to wotlk style currencies.
it was a great system that benefited both casual and hardcore. anyone that complained about it was a liar.
gimme ilvl 140 gear for killing random scourge mobs or i quit wow 5ever
Do you really think it will feel rewarding? Like you will get some sense of satisfaction out of it?
Spoiler alert: No, no it won’t. Because you didn’t have to work for it like the people that earned it legitimately.
It’s a bit like the people that buy carries. There really isn’t any sense of satisfaction in it for them.
Why? Because something given has no value, only something earned.
Your whole argument doesn’t work. It’s based on how others feel. That is impossible to ascertain.
Your point on carries is invalid too. Gold is a currency much like money in the real world. I can’t build a car, but I can save my money and go buy one. The same goes for a carry. In both, I just paid for a service.
Try harder with something like " I don’t feel it’s right that players should get max iLvL gear without having to do challenging content."
This way we know your argument is based on selfishness and caring more about what others have than focusing on your own personal fun.
As a casual, I’m totally fine w/ being 15-20 ilvls behind people who do the top tier content. As long as I remain somewhat competitive.
So by your argument no content should or needs to drop gear. After all, MMOs are all about socializing so just participating in the raids/M+/PvP should be reward enough. Im sure Daddy Blizz would love to be able to save the money by dropping all the peeps involved in gear design. I’m sure it wouldn’t affect subs in any way.
That’s what I’m thinking. Try and make a system that can be equally challenging with hard work for each player base. However, have enough separation so that there is no direct incentive for one group to do both.
They want WoW to be socialist basically
My point exactly.
No it really isn’t. There is a reason lottery winners usually blow the money and end up right back where they started.
There is a reason kids who get a huge inheritance usually waste it.
It’s basic human psychology that in order to value something we have to have invested something into it.
I’ve said it before. I don’t need the BEST gear. I do, however, need decent gear to be able to participate in casual BGs. The reason is, casual BGs are for anybody. So, folks who enjoy raiding and M+ and rated PvP can also enjoy casual BGs. If there is no way for me to obtain decent gear, I will be steamrolled by people who also enjoy aspects of the game I do not enjoy. That means I won’t enjoy casual BGs as I will be steamrolled.
And no, life is too short to “play” something I don’t like to be able to play and enjoy stuff I do.
The mythic player did harder content. You do bigger things, you get bigger rewards.
