YES! let me play the freaking game the way I want. i could care less why a bunch of fairys, smurfs, vampires and some freaks got beef with another dude. The lore of this game went to s*** at the end of legion anyways
That’s my opinion. Since when did this become a “players choose the rules” game? Since never.
I disagree with “Ion”.
Ion is a PR person, speaking “on behalf of” Blizzard. In other words, the “game design team” made this GROUP decision. It was not Ion’s personal decision. But Ion will defend it publicly, on behalf of his team. Publicly he won’t say “blame someone else, not me”.
Is it possible for players to change decisions? Sure. Point out facts the team did not already consider – yes. But repeating ideas that they DID consider when they made the decision – no. Saying “I want this” – no.
Even if they balance them now it’s still an issue. If I’d dumped a hundred hours and 50k anima into my BiS covenant only to find out that my “choice” had been made irrelevant by balance changes after the fact I’d be pretty pissed.
What does anima have to do with balance?
all warriors that do +m are night fae now cause of a single soul bind
cause they buffed a cove and they had to change to that ?
It seems pretty unreasonable to expect the balance to remain exactly the same as it is now for the entirety of the expansion.
Probably best to only farm as much anima as you enjoy doing so it doesn’t feel “lost” if you feel compelled to switch
Being compelled to switch post balance changes to whatever the “new BiS” is knowing that none of what I’d gained in my current covenant would make the leap with me would be a pretty huge buzzkill.
That’s probably just going to happen due to it being normal game balance though. You can’t assume the one you chose is going to be the best for you forever. That’s part of the flaw in this system with them being locked.
If they were unlocked, you wouldn’t feel as though you lost anything because you could just go back to it when you want to use those anima rewards
No, I agree. It’s just another reason that I’d like to see them unlocked.
It would definitely be unreasonable to think that they wouldn’t balance them. But at the same time I’m not a fan of everything I’ve worked for just being thrown into a fire because venthyr happens to be good this patch.
Oh gotcha, I misread what you said initially.
My bad hero
I realy dont care about cove stuff I pick whats best for my dps
So far I only have 3 0f the hunters far enough in . Having a hard time getting into doing Bastion to be honest
The covenant class abilities should of never been tied to the covenants . Those should of been talents. Those are the things we want to be able to switch depending on content. We don’t want to actually switch covenants. We want those for the rp aspect just not the game play aspect. All they had to do to make all of the abilities for a person’s class work with any covenant would of been a conduit.
There has always been a mathematically superior class/race combo for any given content. Why hasn’t this forum been exploding with vitriol for the last 16 years about the inability to swap to the bis class/race? Why only now do people have to play with bis covenants but don’t seem to care that they’re not playing with bis class/race? I guess I just don’t understand why everyone’s saying locked covenants are a terrible design but locked class isn’t.
they are not beeing locked because of “LORE”
I don’t know what you mean by that… Why is it ok to be suboptimal with one locked choice but it’s not ok for another?
they only motive blizzard gave us on why we cant swap freely is LORE
Because that’s not meaningful choice.
The idea is power for your main focus.
Not power for every situation.
Stop complaining. You will still be a bad player compared to others even if they let you switch on demand… which they wont
Don’t think I agree with that. They’ve stated pretty plainly that the covenants are locked because we haven’t made a choice that we’re locked into since the character creation screen. They wanted covenants to be another permanent choice just like when you picked your class and race. So I ask again…why is it ok to be suboptimal in your class or race selection (and it’s been ok for the last 16 years) but it’s not ok to be suboptimal with your covenant selection?
