FOMO Events turn me off from playing - Kalimdor Cup

wait the gear rewards / cup is coming back in rotation? if so this is amazing news

Plus we have the EK Cup coming up, then Outland Cup, you see where this is going.

i’m with op kinda. I am pissy about “being forced” to do all this content when I just discovered this week you could get full raid tier set appearances from mythic plus from mythic all the way to lfr by getting to +15 and a specific score. So just discovering this while just starting gearing for arena’s last week, i feel like i dont have time to get everything and then there is this event and i’m like its all falling apart, i doomed myself from not starting at the beginning of the season!

But if the cup / reward vendors come back then i can catch a breath.

That is the inherent point of any/all limited time event. Are you mad at Taco Bell because the Triple Steak Stack went away? or McDonalds dropped the Mighty Wings? Or any other niche limited-time-offer IRL? Do you rage at websites if you didn’t place an order while an item was on sale, because the sale should always be available otherwise it’s “FOMO” ?

Are you angry you can’t go play Lake of Kalandra in PoE? Or Twisted Treeline in League? or Christmas events mid summer? That’s how limited time stuff works. It creates incentive to log in.

Then online gaming isn’t for you. Eventually you’re gonna have a light bulb click on and go “oh crap, ALL multi-person gaming is timer based.” - Raids? 7 day timer. Mythic plus? Strict timer. Seasons in ARPGs? Timer. MOBA’s? Timer. Chess? Timer. MTG? Timer. Football? Timer. Tetris? Timer.

It seems like you want a single player, offline, static world game that has all content available despite your personal choices inside that game… But even at that, the metaphorical Storm Cloaks don’t like you if you side with the Imperials - so I guess that’s “FOMO” as well.

 It’s not FOMO. You’re just prioritizing your time differently. Dropping buzz words would help your conversation significantly.

Yes. Not a fan of needing to be on at an exact time for an event.

All these things would be fine in WoW, if it’s not a) the best looking stuff they offer and b) they would actually offer good alternatives. We’re getting some poor quality class transmogs coming month, which also reflects poorly on the 2-class system we face here:

Good items are not available 24/7 and are either too hard to acquire, time-sensitive or just poorly planned without regards to the a) lore and b) customer-happiness. Everyone, who comes too late, is punished. Why? Because you can’t buy them afterwards in the shop.

I just look at this as a Fomo with out fearing it and wonder what’s so fun gliding through loops and holes over land and sea?

Op,it’s an introduction to this type of racing to see if people will like it ,so that’s what they said, but it isn’t it’s going to be there regardless.

Doesn’t seem like you’re suffering from FOMO at all if you’re just not going to do it.

I think the acronym you’re looking for is DCIIMO (don’t care if I miss out.)

Are you honestly suggesting they never do events because you might miss it? Or are you suggesting all events must never have an expiry?

Race Kalimdor armor looks like microwaved dog food. Like… what?

gestures at the entire rest of the game that has significantly higher texture items, the literal tens of thousands of other items available to you.

They’re free. If you don’t want them, don’t buy them. It’s a log-in perk. Guaranteed free tmog. If you don’t want it, don’t get it. I’d argue the race armor is drastically inferior to all of them.

What? The only thing not available to you is Mage Tower, Challenge Mode Armor, and Challenge Mode Weapons. I guess there’s one-offs like Corrupted Ashbringer, or MoP cloaks? But… like, let’s not pearl-grasp like there’s some extensive all-consuming list of tmogs you can’t obtain. Also, arguably, none of these items are “good”, they’re all tmog. All “good” items aren’t LTO unless we’re warping the definition of limited-time to equate to per raid lockout.

Reaching, baseless, disingenuous…

Your happiness, and my happiness are two different things - and you can not measure/metric mine based off yours; nor yours to mine. My happiness comes from earning limited time available things that I find valuable knowing that I’ll have them. Same with exclusive realm/server first titles, The Undying, The Immortal, Hand of A’dal, Champion of Naaru, etc.

You aren’t punished. That’s some extreme self victimization. You are not “punished” by not having an item in a game that you weren’t even actively playing that other people who actively played the game did earn.

The notion of being “punished” is hilarious. Punished of what? I prioritized my time doing the thing - you prioritized your time doing anything else in your life. Why should we be equal? You made your choice, I made mine. Why would your debit card be able to change that?

You don’t get an increase on your paycheck because you took a summer vacation, and then claim it was unfair you didn’t get paid.

Do you stay subbed though? Because that’s all they actually care about.

FOMO events are optional content. Optional being the key word. To encourage participation they are going to have to have some element of FOMO in terms of rewards. Otherwise why even bother making an event in the first place?

I agree with ya, OP.

I wasn’t, but NOW I AM!!! I didn’t want to miss out on this topic!

Fomo is the most overused term among the current zeitgeist of wow players. Theres literally thousands and thousands and thousands of items to earn in this game and you dont collect them. Who cares man.

You sound exhausting to be around.

Which again, is FOMO in a way.

Yeah, mad at them for a lot of stuff going away. Lot of stuff that was on the menu isn’t, I haven’t been there in a while.

Never had anything I got from there that went away, tbh. So not really.

Most, yep. Stuff like that irritates me.

Curiously, I can still get those items. They’re not gone away. Bad faith arguments, stopping here just to block. Bye~

Got the helmet for the goggles. Rest is meh anyway. Took less than a hour.

Now I partially agree… There’re some really cool questchains, events and whatnot a majority of new players will never experience because of stupidity.

But, on the other hand, I got Gold on every course in 6 hours… I went crazy!

Sounds like its time you took a vacation away from wow. Find something else to be or get excited about. I’m glad this is the way it is personally. Limited Time only Fun lol get it now.
