Follower BG Tutorials

With the new Follower Dungeon coming out here soon, I believe this would be a great opportunity to create Follower Battleground Tutorials.
Where it’s you and AI in EVERY Battleground map.
Teaching you. Step. By. Step. How to play the map, how to win, and why you need to do certain things.
Like League, Dota, ETC.

You should have to finish all of these tutorials before you can que Random BGs.

I like it.

An NPC takes you around the map and explains what each point does and how to use them to attack. It’s like the MoP scenario’s, with a small attack at each point captured, and you win the battleground in the end.

I do believe some kind of tutorial system would be helpful. Current comp stomp can at least give some familiarity with the map, but the AI would definitely need to be improved for anything beyond that.

Yep. It needs to be done.

That would be cool for new people

Something needs to be implemented. It’s so exhausting to wait in que to be grouped with people who have no idea how to bg.

Great idea. It could also show them how to /AFK when coming up against an Epic Premade.

mandatory tutorials are bad game design. that said i could see AI used for practice modes, Counterstrike has had a vs bots mode for decades, but at the same time, bots don’t play like people in pvp scenarios, so it ends up being counterintuitive to practice vs bots.

plenty of tutorials on youtube.

These people can’t even figure out how to play capture the flag, do you really expect them to know what a Youtube Tutorial is?

no, i don’t, i don’t expect people to be masters let alone even marginally good at something they have never done before.

the phrase is “git good” for a reason, not “participate only if you are naturally good, otherwise go somewhere else”.

Compstomp is pretty cool for less than stellar players, but enemys get graveyard farmed so fast there isnt really time to practice doing what is required in real pvp content.

At the end of the day SOMETHING to help the newer players will be better than nothing.

honor levels 0-29 are in their own bracket, they aren’t put into the the main pool of pvpers until they have had quite a bit of pvp to learn the basics.

Not in Blitz, though. Lulz.

Yeah I’ve played multiple matches with people 1-3 honor levels?
In Ebgs/Randoms/Blitz

Blitz has no restrictions. For the others, low honor level can be pulled to the normal bracket if they are grouped with someone over HL 30.

it has MMR instead

The MMR that people get placed at often doesn’t really correspond to their knowledge/experience level. That is, a new player under HL 30 can get a lucky streak of wins just from being on the better team to lift them to a MMR that they don’t really belong at.

This is going to be a weakness of Blitz MMR. The more people involved in their matchmaking formula the worse it is going to perform.

so what, at the end of the day its pvp, you can’t have the nice fake hand holding of pve tutorials that let people play pretend until they feel they are ready, people are gonna have to go in and get the :poop: beaten out of them a few times before they learn.

what people want is no negative experiences until they are ready or in some cases, at all, and that just isn’t compatible with pvp.

Learn what? pvp? my guy teamfights last seconds at most. especially with all these pvp consumables we have. most new comers Wont even underestand what’s goin on. most will probably quit. bg tutorials would actually help people understand map layout, defending, capping bases, etc. It’s a stepping stone to see if they’re interested into getting into bgs or w/e
