Flying is 'at a nice middle ground'

Only because you have such dainty, exquisite horns; they help shape and style so wonderfully and all so natural too!

My question is Flying not allowed, what happens to all the players who spent REAL money in the Shop for flying mounts, will the money be returned, or will blizz say oh well and keep the money?

Guess.

We should demand all of the store flying mounts be price reduced by 50% permanently: to account for their 50% uptime of usefulness.

Oh PLEASE!
I’ve caught so much grief over my server that I thought I’d try a little of it for myself, to see what it was like!
Purely for research, you understand!

I remember looking at that thread & found myself unable to empathize, & I generally can see both sides of debates/arguments. I understand what they are saying & it’s obvious they feel the way they do, I just don’t get the lifelessness, boring point of view, & especially the bigger world feel.

I’ve seen every iteration of travel in the game, & when flying came around, for me, it made the game feel more alive with a sense of freedom. I’ve always been an explorer & it added a whole new dimension. It’s not about skipping anything, everything has already been experienced numerous times on the ground. I’m okay being grounded during the first part of an expansion, but they restrain us too long for my liking. There is no lack of “life” on the ground once the flying restriction has been lifted.

If anything, the trains of druid herbing bots & groups of multi-boxers farming instant spawn hubs makes the world feel more mechanical & lifeless.

It’s made me wonder if it’s a personality thing. Introvert vs. extrovert, jock/jockette vs. glee club, control freak vs. free spirit.

I remember when Ythisensin expressed he thought flying could have come out earlier in Legion, I wondered if anyone at the Dev discussions had a similar view & would at least argue for it.

Ahh well, they are going to do what they are going to do.

Ion also lied about not recieving feedback during the beta.
Placated half of his design decisions as “learning”

Honestly the game has been absolute helltrash with him at the helm. I can’t believe I used to whinge about ghostcrawler. This interview has made me cancel sub, I just can’t do this anymore dealing with a team lead by a man who clearly learns nothing and can infer nothing from data.

I would have to disagree with this.

Because of the lack of flying and what I consider imo to be a lack of what I feel to be engaing content currently in BfA . I am running my alts more then my mains currently . I am pretty much at the point now where I log on to what I consider my 3 main toons Hunter and DK on Horde and Hunter on Alliance to see if there is any story progression going on and if not I check my ship missions .

From there I go to work on the 2 current alts I am leveling . Dark Iron Lock and Zandalari Druid.

I am enjoying playing those 2 more in old content then I am my top 3 toons especially my Horde hunter which has been my primary toon (also my forum toon) since I created it originally as a goblin in Cata.

Whose reps you had to get to Revered, meaning you essentially had completed the zone by the time you got flying?

Which, no differently than in WoD, was gated by rep and zone completion? Legion PFPT.2 actually took much longer when it was current, but y’know, facts are inconvenient or something when you’re going for that sweet uninformed “gotcha” moment.

So you are fine with others not having a feature they want, just as long as it means you don’t feel “forced” to “take advantage” of it. Gotcha.

Jeez, I wonder why we still can’t fly in BGs and Dungeons after all these years…
It’s not like flying causes the complete and total breakdown of WoW’s basic gameplay loop or anything…

It’s just a complete darn mystery to me too, Friend.
Why in the world aren’t they allowing us to fly over everything while it’s still current?

How the hell has Ion not been fired ???

This is my thought. I’m tired of the whole thing, including arguments and complaints on BOTH sides. If Blizzard won’t give players flying until it’s basically useless then stop with the petty, busywork achievement and just turn it on at whatever point it’s deemed no one will benefit from it. That’s when the achievement is currently put in now anyway. If we have to complete a petty busywork achievement, then said achievement should not be time gated.

I remain amazingly disappointed that Blizzard seems incapable of designing content FOR a flight-capable universe. By which I do NOT mean just allowing flight but designing only ground based objectives and grounding players artificially by making sure they’re shot down by XYZwhatever when flying in certain areas. (I’m looking at you, Blade’s Edge Mountains.) I mean actually creating content that INCORPORATES flying and WORKS WITH it. THAT would be creative and fun.

I’m fine with pathfinder requirements. That said I think flying should come a full patch earlier.

I skip nothing on my main. I want to do it all, and I don’t mind being grounded while doing it. I also have a lot of alts.

Once I’ve seen and done all there is to do in the current expansion, I want to catch my alts up. They don’t -need- all the reps and all the story quests, I’d rather stick to content that I liked most. Flying helps make classes I dabble with more fun once I’ve run out of engaging content to pursue on my main.

And since the concept of Pathfinder was introduced, it seems to be pushed back later and later each time. (whether it does or not, I dunno, but it feels that way).

But it’s not my call.

What I want more than pathfinder sooner, is LOGICAL and CONSISTENT IN-GAME REASONS for why flying is restricted. Blizzard did this perfectly with Thunder Isle. Fly = death by lightning. Got it. Noooo problem. Isle of Giants? Predators flying about, so, um, sure, I guess that makes sense. Timeless Isle? Ummmm dunno… tachyon particle storms? Who knows.

Make underground and cities zones with tunnels that can’t be flown through if you want to limit flight. Make a solid canopy of trees that can’t be flown through. Swarms of bugs like in that mantid arena out in Pandaria/Dread Wastes.

put in anti-aircraft turrets… and turn pathfinder into a passive flying stealth ability. Or a passive ‘shielded flight’ ability in the expansion afterwards.

This “Boss said no flying here.” without a logically in-game consistent rational for it is just -lazy- design, and the devs should be embarrassed by it. It lacks artistry, it lacks immersion, it lacks continuity and story.

Same here. I don’t mind being without flying for the first part of the xpac. But flying helps skip the parts I don’t want to repeat with alts. So as long as they put in flying at or before the mid-point of the xpac, it’s all good even with the last new zones in recent xpacs designated no-fly zones.

That’s rich coming from him, considering that in Legion we had PF2 available now…That was 7 months from launch to PF2 availability.

Who knows when 8.2 is going to hit, and then what the reqs are for it.

Middle ground my @ss…Just another excuse.
