If you look at the bulk of comments from the ‘pro-flyer’ camp, most of them just want flying outright, the achievement removed entirely. Hence my comment on hyperbolic statements earlier. I personally like the Pathfinder stuff, but it should be at launch or at least in the first major patch.
You’d think so but a bulk of our time on Emerald Dream was doing World PvP. It. Was. Awesome. Guilds fighting guilds, tons of drama between Alliance and Horde, the RP line ups in the cities. Gah. It was awesome.
This was our main channel during MoP and some of WoD. An example of what we did was something like this.
I partook in instanced pvp for sure. But a lot of time was also spent out in the world fighting back or causing issues against the Horde side.
The achievement is fine. MULTIPLE posters in this thread alone have said this. The time gate is not. I have no issue with exploring and rep and loremaster. None. But I’ve done the achievement and I can’t fly. That’s an issue.
If anyone doubts that this game is in deep trouble and completely on the skids, look no further than what Blizzard considers to be MVP material.
An entire post full of invective, presumption and blatant insults.
Hmmf.
Ah, forgot to check your server. Yeah, I remember ED being well-known for that, though as I heard it was somewhat dampened when multi-boxers started coming around in force.
I can agree on that in principle, but I feel we’re not actually disagreeing here, despite my initial thoughts.
You complain that no flying is "inconvenient " to you, that you cant run. Your dailies efficiently. That you dont want to fight mobs and just be able to bypass zones unmolested yet you call me selfish?
Good. My 15 bucks a month goes towards me playing the game. That includes combat against players and npc’s.
We aren’t. All I’m doing is providing my perspective in the convo. I definitely think flight has its place. Especially when zones are designed for it which is something I think should be promoted.
But if they want to make zones like the Argus zones or Timeless/Thunder Isle be ground only then I won’t make a fuss. I think what helped out in making those zones more memorable was the fact that flight didn’t take so long to achieve. So people had plenty of time to enjoy flying and it be relevant for a while before they came out with a ground only zone.
Just my personal opinion though.
EDIT: Also we dealt with Multiboxers too.
Thats a cool vid. We agree on a lot of stuff I’ve noticed, I could even come to like you.
If you weren’t filthy Alliance ofc
I don’t think it’s a bad opinion (yours), but I’m curious to know what about flying needed a compromise.
If one didn’t want to fly, they don’t.
If one didn’t want to raid, they don’t. (In a similar veins to me).
This compromise seems a kin to opening up a raid tier arbitrarily after X amount of time has passed, along with requirements 1-5 being satisfied by individuals desiring tier access.
If someone never wanted tier access (didn’t want flying), how is that a compromise?
And further, why would a largely time-based delay be a compromise over purely an achievement-based delay? (Eg once an individual completes the pathfinder 1 requirements, they can fly in current content.)
I got way more verbose than I planned there…oye
MVPs have always been given their special green text not because they’re picture perfect posters, but because they’re helpful somewhere in the forums, often in lower traffic ones like the Xmog forum or the Tech Support forum. They’re not PR reps and their green text doesn’t amount to overly much, especially since Blizzard got rid of many forums like the Tanking, DPS, and Healer forums.
They’re still entitled to their opinion just like any other poster.
It’s not worth the trouble; it’s just a troll from Emerald Dream. Another good reason to stay away from that server.
flips table
But jokes aside, thanks! I miss those days. I really wanted to come back and do the WPvP thing again but it just seems like the servers aren’t capable of medium-large scale engagements. We’ve tried to inform them on Twitter about the issue but the response has always been that we should look to upgrading our rigs.
Buddy, let’s not go tossing stones based on server rep…
Awful decision. I loved hanging out in the tanking forums and a lot of new tanks learned valuable tips, tricks and got gearing/stat help from veteran tanks like myself.
I think it’d be a most worthy effort to bring them back to help new players learn their roles faster and more intelligently. Thats a level of accessability and help we can all agree on that only has a positive effect on the game.
NOT when it includes deliberate insults and purposeful distortions. BOTH you and Metro need to go to the stickies and reread the qualifications for an MVP.
No hair flip for you, either!
I agree, I was pretty vocal about keeping them, when they were first going to remove them in WoD. Then they left them alone… and took them away later, before Legion.
I miss these, too.
Lightforged have nicer hair anyway.
This situation is about to get hairy.
