More like time wasting annoyances called ‘content’, lol
funny thing is how long this chikken fried nightmare has been allowed to continue when they know its cost them subs, lol.
NO ONE was going to complain if PF was never created.
But many HAVE complained and moved on because of it.
Worst business model ever devised. LOL
I don’t see how anyone can call riding the same path to the same WQ day in and day out actual content. Flying gets you to the real content and avoids the trivial annoyances.
You are forgetting to factor in the additional sub time they gained from people needing to grind out pathfinder. No decision they make is for the player, it’s only about money.
and honestly, Id be ok with those annoyances IF it was WORTH my time investment.
From classic content all the way up thru Mists I can farm that world trash and get drops to sell that are BOE for mogs.
Once I hit WoD its like they cheaped out and didnt want us being able to sell much of anything…and I dont waste my time farming pocket lint and gray trash, lol.
If they want me to waste MY game time with world trash, then make it WORTH my time.
It’s no coincidence that my playtime with WoW took a giant dive once pathfinder became a thing. I’ve minimized my time in all world content from Draenor onward simply because I cannot be assed to waste my time trying to navigate everything on foot. I basically spend all my time in expansions with flying nowadays as a result.
Animosity is one hell of an emotion. The player base back in WoD spoke with the wallet and forced Blizz to do flying. They have treated it with disdain ever since.
Imagine going to a burger joint and ordering a cheeseburger and that place giving you the cheese to go. It’s the same insane logic.
Yeah, I take breaks ever expac but I am getting the feeling I may not be back for SL. I have plenty to do elsewhere so cutting WoW just opens up more time for my astrophotography hobby that has been gathering dust a while now.
If you ever get a website please post the link. I love looking at photography like that.
If they made an optional hardcore zone with no mounts and all the mobs be elite I would be fine with it. If the there was purple gear rewards in that hardcore zone I would be cool with that too since it was optional and I had other ways of obtaining what I want. I may even do it once in while when I want a challenge. I want more options for people not less.
so many people don’t understand this.
Will do. Still have a pretty small portfolio right now. I just invested in some new software and am planning to take a class on using it soon so hopefully will have enough to make it worthwhile displaying.
Good for you! Take a nice healthy break!
Pathfinder sucks, that’s all there is to it. At least the current iteration that has been the same for 3 damn expansions now…
Don’t jinx us bro!
1100+ likes? That is pretty telling.
I like that Pathfinder unlocks my entire account to flying in that expansion, no matter if my toon is 60, or 120, so it’s much easier to level all my alts.
Changes that need to happen:
- It’s all available at launch, and not a time-gated nine month punitive wait.
- The required content is cut back dramatically. Completing all the content creates burnout for continued play once Pathfinder is acquired, sabotaging Blizzard’s desired time-played metric. A better option would be a long Pathfinder-specific quest chain, that takes you through each zone, telling a separate story than the zone stories do, while giving you rep in those zones, and perhaps a specific Pathfinder rep as well.
- If a player prefers to level to cap, and pay gold per toon, like we used to do, let them. But once that’s done, then they must do it that way for all their characters and become locked out of Pathfinder on that account, for that expansion.
The problem with the time-played argument, though, isn’t that they did, or didn’t, do it for that reason. The argument is that they have no proof that it worked. As other players have stated, they will unsub or stop playing while there is no flying, and come back when it is available. Once people are done with Pathfinder, the monotony to reach that achievement causes burnout, and some will end up unsubbing again.
For me, I never unsub, because I always have something to do. After I finish Pathfinder, I often don’t play my main for an extended period of time, instead choosing to do lower-level-alt stuff in the areas where I can fly. I am also one of those people who doesn’t max out reputations by default, so the extra Revered reps are often something that I have to force myself to do.
I do it because I want to fly, not because I like it. Flying allows me to get more done, without roaming the countryside (or mountainside, more like), getting lost or dazed along the way. For example, I am working on Nightfallen Exalted for the remaining 10 of 12 classes, so that I can get their Class Hall shoulders. I can either ride along the ground to get a few done, or I can fly there, and take maybe 30 min per character, per day. Everyone knows which one is more efficient.
Not surprising.
A lot of people were pretty neutral about flying but over time more and more have become pro flyers.
Can still remember the debates like it was yesterday
“Flying killed world pvp!”
“If you hate flying so much just use your ground mount”
“You can fly over mobs and skip trash too easily”
“Well we run through trash anyway and pray we don’t get dismounted”
“You appreciate the world better on the ground”
Well places like Nazjatar beg to differ, absolute trash on the ground, much better in the sky. Even the capitals are much easier to explore via flying, so…ironic huh.
You actually believe they intended to remove flying? Selling mounts makes them a ton of $. I’m sure some B team developers thought this would be a good idea, then the sales team put them in their place. Ion may have said and acted like they had intended to remove flying, but I think you’d have to be VERY dense to believe they’d ever remove it.
Pathfinder and earning flying is not a bad thing, but delaying flight after an expansion almost a year is not acceptable to the vast majority of the player base.
“New lead game developer announced for World of Warcraft… Pathfinder has now been removed/changed”.
Many things have happened that people said would never happen. They’ve already lifted their mistakes with wanting to hold Pathfinder on previous expansions… I’d be willing to bet if it never gets completely removed it will be reduced from 10 months after an expansion release to less than 3 months.
