The combat isn’t slow as you can weave things inbetween the GCD. Actually the combat makes a lot more sense given that there is more of a flow of priority/rotation system compared to WoW. WoW has turned into builders, spenders and then the occasional proc which is too homogenized if you think about it.
You do get into a rythym and the mobs are also on the GCD unlike WoW mobs. This does level the playing field substantially. As you level in FF14 you can aquire haste, which shortens your GCD.
Nice rebuttal. Very intelligent response.
What do you mean “now?” That mechanic is from Vanilla.
Cataclysm was well received, in fact that’s when the subs peaked at ~12 million.
The problem started at the end of Cataclysm, the content drought was extremely long (almost a year iirc), Pandaria was good, but not well received by the general public (Kung Fu Panda was popular at the time) and it had a similar drought. WoD was the nail in the coffin, the whole expansion felt like a content drought and the Garrison isolated everyone from the world.
12 on Cata launch then by quarter : 11.4 , 11.1, 10.3, 10.2, 10.2, 9.1 and back to 10 with MOP launch then down to 7.5 pre WOD launch. WOD launch actually got back to 10 but dropped back within a quarter
Your point? Every expansion peaks during launch.
Mine is that the whole game peaked during Cataclysm.
FWIW, TBC and WotLK didn’t.
No point other than Cata began a downward trend that couldn’t be mitigated and whatever the reason, there was still an audience who wanted to come back but left almost immediately with WOD.
What those factors were are what we all spend so much time debating.
FWIW?
But the point is spot on TBC and Wrath, they held or built subscriptions
For What It’s Worth.
As in, “For what it’s worth, when this game was growing, it had flying upon reaching max level, no pathfinder, and no LFR.”
shoot. I was hoping it was “From what I Wemember” and you had a porky pig fetish.
Gro-gro-gro-gro… disgusting…
The game is built with the GCD in mind while WoW is not and the forced GCD change along with gating of flying shows a dev team that lacks leadership.
How flying will be gated in shadowlands is going to be a big litmus test for Blizz devs.
If flying gated then it won’t be much of an expansion for me personally. If they say they were wrong and start backing out/fixing the damage they did, I can keep enjoying the game.
FF14 GCD affects players and mobs, which gives you an even playing field. WoW mobs are not affected by GCD.
Now I hear they are adding mobs to the sky to slow down flying?
BS
Anyone have a link for that?
It’s literally a stacking 3 minute debuff JUST to slow you down. It’s not a threat or dangerous…well I take that back. It’s a threat to your real life time.
I wonder if they even care at this point what players think lol.
My bet is: not in the slightest. You have people that want this game to improve then you have the shills and white knights that will actively defend bad decisions. I’m about at my breaking point to say you know what shills? You win. I hope wow becomes the most time gated and tedious game on the market. Enjoy.
