I hated the game until i finally got flying. Felt burnt out.
That’s an issue. Same content for so long just to unlock flying by the time you get it before and out of the game
A Blood Elven woman that stands her ground and speaks her mind. HEAR, HEAR.
this made the community so very bitter and for damn good reason
nothing but spite and everyone knew it
on a sunny note i’m loving classic got my Benediction last night
But see. There’s no reason for any of it. Why can’t they do what players actually want? Why do opposite of what will bring you more customers?
For me it is flying, PVP and crafting. But Blizz butchered crafting in BFA, PVP has no gear vendors and flying is sequestered for half an expansion.
Clearly their vision of playing their way is just logging to do mythic +/raids. Personally speaking I don’t see it. Raid logging just for WoD didn’t work for them and it isn’t working for them in BFA either IMVHO.
Best thing to do is let go. Quit wow. They absolutely REFUSE to listen. Quit. Don’t give one single cent to these devs that insist on building a game around metrics.
That’s what I’m doing. No more.
Easier said than done. This game is too much part of my life. I’ve road this train too long to abandon it before the wreck.
Don’t get trapped by the sunk cost fallacy. It’s never too late to just walk away.
Guess what will be my first post in shadowlands beta?
WoW’s recent design philosophy in a nutshell. When your favorite tool is a hammer, everything else looks like a nail.
Don’t bother with that one. They have convinced themselves that people don’t quit over flying, which requires blanking out the very real fact that the only reason Pathfinder exists is because people were quitting over flying.
You can’t reason with someone that deep in self-delusion… Just let them scream at clouds and ignore them.
i really do like pathfinder in previous expansions but this one was terrible.
Like… let us run around while leveling thats fine but max level let us fly.
Due to laziness and utter lack of creativity.
Former teams have been able to account for flight pretty well.
I believe this is further backed up in 8.3. There are these NPCs that roam in the new assault zones. These NPCs fly around and put a stacking debuff on you that slows down your flying speed. In the current PTR patch the max stack is 11 which slows down your flying speed down to unmounted running and will last for three minutes provided its not reapplied by the many worms flying in the area. At their current range and fire rate it is not easy to avoid. Don’t bother engaging them as they have 151 Million HP and will hit you for about 800K-1M damage if you get too close too them.
A raid logger is not going to be affected by this too much, but it could be a nightmare for anyone doing daily activities in the new zones like killing the many rares that exist.
Which tells us we need a whole new development team.
I guess you never played Cata.
yeah…we’ve played thru it. Whats your point?
previous teams were able to use flight and make it PART of the game rather than THIS team who quite clearly isnt talented enough to make flight anything more than an afterthought.

Then you would know exactly what the problem was if you did.

You do realize that the team is mostly intact from back then too, right? Watcher’s been there since Wrath. So was Tom Chilton who was Game Director. So was J Allen Brack, until recently, as Executive Producer for the Warcraft Franchise.

The problem is that a lot of oldschool players were complaining about flying
A VERY small subset. Anyone who played back in the day knows nothing of value was lost at end game with flying. The most annoying thing in end game was traveling to raids, which is why the other cities were almost never used in vanilla.
People talking about what was lost from flying are making stuff up. At 60 we sat in the cities and then flight path’d to the closest raid/dungeon destination. Lack of flight is an excuse for the crappy WQ system. Without it pathfinder wouldnt even make sense.
