Flagging Threads: Is anything being done?

Down votes hurt feelings. Can’t have feelings hurt, it sends 2 mil people to the ER yearly.

I dearly hope so, as it would not only send a definite message to the trolls who think they’re so cute and/or self-righteous protectors of …whatever, but it would do wonders for my blood pressure.
Salutes with a refilled cup of Irish Breakfast Tea.

While the actual numbers may be few and far between, there are some threads that seem to merit special attention. Not to call out, and I never will, but once a thread gets moderated and flagged for a ‘time out’, so to speak, it tends to reoccur; especially in certain longer threads.
Simply closing down the entire thread, just because some self-appointed forum cop/grammar-semantics champion does their very worst to deliberately derail the thread, is indeed a case of ‘baby and bathwater’.
Thank you.
Sits back quietly

P.S. I hope you don’t think I’m picking on you, dear: it’s just you make such interesting points.

It’s not hard to believe something based on trends, rules, etc.

Unlike blindly not believing what one in an authoritative position on the subject states.

Interesting. All of the flying threads that I have seen lately have been inflammatory from the first post and people attack anyone who doesn’t completely agree with what they are demanding.

With that said, I’ve never flagged one of them. I just ignore them now, as the useless wastes of space they are.

Edit: Doh, I need to wake up before I start reading. I read this as ‘flying threads’, lol. My mistake, everyone!

Yeah, that’s my whole argrument.

Based on both forum and in-game punishments being handed out to players its been very common over the years that those same players come right back to the forum to cry.

It’s weird that this is the sole topic that players have decided their punishment was just and decided not to cry on the forum about it.

You do have an interesting point.

No, there isn’t anything being done. Blizzard has gone full NPC warrior. This is being done on purpose. Why do you think these new forums have the ability to unlist threads and silence dissent quietly? The old forums couldn’t quash free speech efficiently enough.

Have to admit, I always do that.

Only the high elf threads outside the mega are spam though really, if that thread gets shut down there will be a big containment breach and we will have a high elf thread apocalypse.

On the other side of this, I have been following a very divisive political thread.

It was shut down for 24 and I thought it would be gone, but the time ran out and it’s right back accepting posts.

So although time outs have now become a thing, it looks like actual moderation is actually less strict.

There’s a megathread for that. Which is why it’s being flagged as spam. That’s appropriate use of the flagging system considering Blizz themselves has come out, said they are spam, and to use the megathread back when they left mod notes on the old forums.

Sjw buzzword alert. Sure it’s “toxic masculinity” rather than (some) people constantly throw a fit when blizzard said no.

Do you PC warrior, like Political Correctness? For me, it feels more like an automated system that is being abused.

Again.

I’m talking about the megathreads.

The megathreads are flagged and shut down when there’s no heated arguments going on.

Could be outdated flagging. In other words, people show up a couple days after the discussions kicked up, scroll through the thousand or so replies, find the thing worth flagging, and they all flag it because it should be flagged, but because the flagging was delayed, the automated system then removes the thread.

It could be, yeah. You’d think they’d have some time limit on it, or at least remove offending comments.

Either way, it’s pretty frustrating.

The ‘high elf’ discussion thread is locked AGAIN! Why? No good reason that I can see; I just spent the last half-hour reading the posts, since the last lockdown. While many debates rage, I saw none of the acrimony or juvenilia that is usually the hallmark of such actions; certainly nothing leapt to my over-sensitive eye mea culpa.
So…what?
What do you WANT from us?

I’m seriously wondering if it’s not what Shadina suggested. People browsing really old comments that are flag worthy and getting the thread shut down.

Honestly, this is making me rethink the usefulness of megathreads.

well tbh the new forums makes every thread essentially a megathread. They have no cap anymore. So long as the thread is active that should be the main place of discussion for that topic.
