Nah, not defensive. Just tired. Been a long day and immediately having to respond to 10 people shredding me was not my original plan for a Friday night. I came into this thinking the thread would spark some conversation. Turns out it only sparked confrontation, and I was the target (which I willingly did to myself just by making the thread)
I learned my lesson.
What I do before I post a thread is I take the text to ChatGPT and I say
âChatGPT, please write me 10 sarcastic, dismissive, and insulting but clean replies to this post. Thank you, ChatGPT.â
Then I have an idea of what to expect if I decide to post it on the forums.
And people do, because the complaints raised on these forums donât represent reality. At most, if one want to assume the absolute best of the absolute best of a poster - you do realize that everyone here who posts represents less than 0.02% of the community, right?
Of all players who play World of Warcraft, roughly 0.03% engage on these forums. The total number of posters usually range from about 0.01-0.02% (a bit less than that, but I am just going to assume the high estimates of posters-to-readers just to make it more generous towards you).
Even assuming the ABSOLUTELY BEST about any poster: no single complaint represent an entire community. Especially not when every single post is written the same way, has the same talking points, and make the same suggestions.
People donât behave like that unless they are mimicking others. So we arenât dealing with âhundreds of postsâ, we are talking about a single post rephrased and reposted about a few dussin times a week.
One post. Not multiples. A single one.
Just rephrased, repackaged, and reposted. When people have genuine problems, people donât behave or communicate like that. Only people who parrot each other behave like that.
Not start a thread with âI dont even like this content, I dont do it, and I wish it would be deletedâŚbut here is my adviceâ?
I was kinda hoping for an exchange of ideas and simple discussion about solutions. Illidan would be proud. I was NOT prepared for the instant barrage of responses.
Most people here talk about change, but donât actually want real change⌠I feel like they just want to be heard and no matter how many ideas are thrown their way, none are ever going to be good enough.
While Iâm not a fan of the AI idea, I just want these people to be harshly punished for their bad behavior⌠they tend to not like my view either.
Tbf I never aimed anything at you, just the notion of AI as replacements in group content and the can of worms entertaining it opens up. Players are capable of fault, and as such culpable and capable of receiving blame.
An AI is part of the game, and itâs actions are as such unable to be blamed. If it cannot be attributed blame it cannot be at fault, lest the player resent their situation and the game itself for putting them there.
And if AI that canât be at fault is replacing a player that can, then the content has had aspects of its difficulty removed.
Ideas were exchanged.
You just didnt like the ideas.
Mostly because its pretty tough to ensure only the wrong doers are âharshly punishedâ and you dont get innocents.
Thank you for this response. It was a polite way of saying my post was not the best without slamming me. So I appreciate that kindness. I will certainly keep it in mind moving forward when viewing âfeedbackâ from the M+ minority ![]()
I do have a question for people though. People often complain about key depletion / downgrading, comparing it to a raid boss that when you wipe forces you to go back to the previous one.
How would you feel if depletion was removed, but in exchange so was overtiming. If the timer expires or a key is abandoned it just resets. You failed to complete the challenge as per the rules of the game, try again.
What is innocent about leaving a keyâd dungeon you agreed to be a part of?
If they have an emergency fine, but 99 times out of a 100⌠thatâs not the case.
No, my ideas were shredded and insulted and questioned without any actual valuable feedback or optional solutions that involved better or different ideas. An exchange implies both sides offer something to the topic. But itâs all good. The best exchange I got was âdo nothingâ cause there is apparently no actual fix for any of this short of running with friends and guildmates. Which I see now. So thank you for sharing that with me.
People donât leave keys that are going well. How long into this activity I allotted roughly 30 minutes for am I the problem for leaving? 35 minutes? 50 minutes? An hour?
If I agreed to be a part of a key that had the goal of timing it, and it becomes clear the key will not be timedâŚ
Then the contract has been broken by the key group. I am under no obligation to remain and fulfill my part of the agreement.
Incorrect.
It was explained why they would not work.
A better idea was ânot implementing themâ compared to âimplementing themâ
The thing is, the only ideas you wanted were ones that agreed with your premise. Any idea offered that did not agree with you, you dismissed.
I feel like that is a fair solution and is on pair with Mythic raids. The key should not diminish and allow the team to retry the same way you can run raid bosses over and over. M+ dungeons are just tiny raids anyway. Seems like a fair solution.
But at the same time, m+ is overflowing in loot. So if the key never degrades, loot dispersal would have to be looked at to balance that out.
To be clear this isnât a choice. The second the clock hits 0 the dungeon resets, there is to overtiming for vault / loot / crests.
I donât think given the above clarification thatâd be necessary.
Iâm the gm and raid leader of a trash can heroic guild. If I cant weekly no leaver my guildies through wipefests for vault itâs absolutely game over for tons of them. Completion pity rewards seem overly generous compared to raiding, but I view them as an absolute essential in the m+ era of wow. Just my view though.
