I have been watching this guy Fish Bot for the past 3 days. Can not find a way to contact a GM. I have been reporting him. Why is Blizzard not responding? Is there no GMs on? People like this are killing the Auction House.
Right-click him, select “report player for”, then select “cheating”.
A box will appear to allow you to briefly describe why you are reporting that player.
Iv been doing it for 3 days now. He is still here fish botting. Even as we speak right now
When you right-click and report someone for cheating, that report goes on to a team who can actually look into the report. I get that you feel this person is a bot, but as a fellow player, we have no way of actually knowing that they are indeed a bot and not another player simply fishing.
That’s why they have to look into the reports and see what’s happening behind the scenes. This also takes time. If you’ve reported them, then all you have to do now is continue on your way and ignore them.
It doesn’t happen that fast. Blizzard needs to investigate first. Your report is added to a queue from over 200 retail realms, plus the TBC Classic and Classic realms. If it’s a new bot, Blizzard needs to monitor the actions to allow them to break the bot and determine what other accounts use it.
The only way you would see it removed within days is if it was already under investigation.
The other thing is - they may not be botting.
Edit:
Thank you for reporting the suspected bot and helping to improve the game environment.
Right click report for cheating. Keep in mind you only have a suspicion, I’m sure when I first got my cat in classic on my hunter many thought I was fish botting when I was fishing for 16-20 hrs a day and not responding to anyone for about a week.
How I know they are botting is that im on a Grand Expedition Yak standing in front of there them. I know when they fish bot they have to zoom there camera all the way in. They have been casting there line over and over because the bot doesnt see the hook. They have been casting over and over for hours.
still you only suspect, if was me I would keep casting until the annoying person on the yak got bored and left.
for hours?
o.O
That’s not proof at all.
They can still real in their catch without cheating. At the end of the day, as players, WE can’t “prove” anything. We can report our suspicions and move on.
Maybe stop wasting your time sitting on your mount in front of them “for hours”.
Very well Perl. I have done what I could. If blizzard wants this to happen then so be it. I don’t know if anyone from Blizzard responded to this form or just regular players but if Blizzard is reading this then im disappointed. Its sad how something is happening right now, have blizzard read this (if they are) and still get no help from a cheater who is killing the market.
By your words, you’ve been stalking them for three days now. Some people enjoy fishing for whatever the reason. Even if they are a bot, you’ve done what you can do. Lightning does not strike down from the sky to kick someone off-line and ban them just because someone suspects them of botting.
You’ve reported them, your job is done. Blizzard will investigate. If it’s a legitimate bot, they will be dealt with in Blizzards time. Not yours. If it’s a legitimate player? Nothing will be done and they’ll be free to keep on fishing and you can either continue to sit there and worry about another character or you can move along and play the game.
They are not - not the ones who do anything in regards to the reports and investigations. There are no GMs here. Our SFAs are pretty nifty, but they have nothing to do with this part of things.
I will continue to block their view ever day until something is done I guess. I wont let people like Perl discourage me from doing justice. If it takes weeks for the bot to get banned then the Auction House will continue to be crushed.
Just to let you know, if they report you for this, (seeing as you’re actively trying to mess with someone needlessly), you’re going to be in hot water for such.
So your answer is to grief the other player because you suspect something they may or may not be doing. You are making yourself to look like the villain. And yes, you can be reported for this.
Honestly you did all you could do banwaves come in waves could happen in the next week or it could be months till the next wave the only time being wasted is yours your not doing anything good or productive. For all you know it could be a laid off player that has nothing better to do then fish which they find relaxing despite a busybody thats trying to ruin there relaxation.
People do this to me, I just zoom all the way in to fish. I have fished for hours myself when I’m trying to stock up to sell stuff on the AH. This very well may be a bot but all you need to do is report and move on. Once you right-click Blizzard has all the information they need to investigate.
If you wish to waste your time standing in front of someone you suspect to be botting then go for it. I for one would not do it. What you don’t understand is once they ban this bot 40 others will take its place. It’s a never-ending cycle.
You are correct I should leave it in the hands of the professionals. It is ultimately there game and if they wish for this to continue then who am I to say otherwise.
Iv reported, Iv stopped him from botting as much as I could and Iv brought it up in the forms. Nothing else to do right? If nothing is done I humbly admit defeat and lay down my sword. You win this round fish botters
My question was why they have not done anything. That question was answered. Not spreading anything it was a legit question
