I’ve seen a few leafs in my daily roulettes who were super toxic of late. I can’t help but wonder if they were former wow players it’s becoming a bit to consistent to be a coincidence

It will quickly reclaim it when 9.1 comes out and people flood from TBC back into retail. It’s an extremely temporary thing.
Your Probably right and the worst part is streamers like bellure and the other wow content creators who have been streaming ffxiv will jump right back in. I can only hope their disingenuous actually got some people to buy the game
And truthfully, I would be extremely happy if FFXIV started beating the hell out of WoW. It would force blizzard to improve the game. With how quickly FF has been growing over the years, and the consistency of that growth, I have no doubt that its possible it will happen. I can only hope that blizzard kicks their game up and starts making something that is fun rather than something just built to waste your time.
I think its also important to realize that right now they cater to entirely different audiences. FFXIV has sort of taken the “casual mmo” crown from WoW. WoW has been leaning more and more into a hardcore skill-based crowd for the last decade.

It makes me sad that this statement is true… Outdoor environment does not appeal to these kind of players so it would seem it would be cheaper for Activision to eliminate the care they use to put into the WoW world. The biggest whiny Brats always get their way and the rest of us longtime single player WoW subs are sucked down with their wants… I miss the big environments and the lore and the feel of the Eye Candy … The armor situation is also a real set back… I personally play everyday, not just some schlump logging on Raid Day… These people are Casuals and get the biggest rewards for being that. Maybe because I’m a woman I’m saddened by it all. I’ll quit when there is no WoW left…The rest of you can go play Whatever , this dilemma has already ruined this game.

Esports has morphed WoW from what it used to stand for. FF is simply staying the course.

Final Fantasy 14 is great, but man Final Fantasy 24 completely blows every other mmo out of the water
They don’t care about game development anymore they are just milking the game for every nickel they can get. That’s why there are all of these endless grinds.

FF is not the most played mmo. WoW beats its numbers by far. Firstly the numbers you people keep bandying about recklessly separate classic wow players from retail wow players. Secondly the numbers are guesses as no studio releases those numbers. They draw from online activity metrics that guess MAU’s based on web based activity relative to each game.
Don’t believe the hype one way or another.

I’ve noticed this too. I never used to see any toxicity before. It seems like wow players are going to FF with the same toxicity but they will get banned there.

I cant really stand it… more cinematics and drama than the actual gameplay.
No competitiveness. They dont care about the damage meters. It means the content is trivial. You could put down bosses even with bad players.
No PvP.
I understand some people like such trivial games. I will side with WoW for what it is. I just dont believe FF14 is a WoW killer.
Damage meters and other addons aren’t allowed in FFXIV. It’s not that they don’t care. It’s that they literally can’t use them.
Competitiveness is stupid. If the boss is dying, that’s all that should really matter.
