Final fantasy 14 has solved player housing

Where did they go though?

When my whole “Super Group” quit CoH, it was to come to WoW. I’m not looking to leave right now, but I also don’t see anywhere else to go.

This is probably true. They don’t even have to put in housing. Just staring the process will bring some people back.

I came back because I heard they will be opening up all races to all classes. That might not even be true, but here I am.

To put it into context, was Cata ever going to look good coming off of the “grand finale” of WotLK? Even ignoring Cata’s issues, they simply couldn’t follow that act and come out looking good.

DT wasn’t as good as EW, but that was actually expected by everyone - including the playerbase. It still had more issues than expected, mostly too much Wuk Lamat and speedrunning her story arc at everyone else’s expense, but was still fairly decent overall and looks promising going forward - the gameplay and encounter design in particular seeing marked improvements.

I’m honestly hoping for 7.1… though I may have to look at the recent live letter for info. In any case, the 7.0 MSQ was set up in for Wuk to step away from the spotlight; I wouldn’t be surprised if DT’s patch cycle looks like EW’s, with more new locales.

lmao…you have to love the “I speak for WE” sorts in here lol.
the self importance is off the meter…

proposed housing LITERALLY has been suggested as NOT BEING LIKE GARRISONS lmao…and yet every time this topic comes up these jokers go right to the garrisons joke.
IF WE wanted it to be like garrisons…duh…we already have that. lol.

Garrisons failed BECAUSE there was TOO MUCH to do inside…including an AH. lmao.
DONT do that with housing.
No quests, no AH, nothing but COSMETICS.

And put those cosmetics all over the game including as loot in raids and end game…and yeah…it WONT BE like garrisons.

lol

If I remember correctly too, Garrisons were a response to everyone being in major cities, which was crashing servers. Garrisons lost value when that was no longer a problem.

It was odd, like they were pushing everyone to the cities, and away from places like Dalaran, which caused problems. Then, they started pushing everyone away from them.

ugh…when I got to WoD content, between finding out about pathfinder and then the garrison crap nearly made me quit WoW entirely.
Thankfullly I decided to get thru that garbage and just see what legion was like.
Even with that weapon abomination Legion was the saving grace that kept me playing.

Garrisons are great as a home base. But like housing, no way I want to be in there doing stuff all day long.

I am still surprised Blizzard hasn’t implemented Player Housing. They are probably missing out on a lot of revenue from the cash shop due to that.

Not only that but giving a reason to do old content besides just transmog. Funishings, bosses as trophies, all sorts of decore based on the raid itself.

I dont think players understand the hardware and system wow still uses as well as the spaghetti code mess that it is…

I dont think its that they dont want to do housing i think that its such a monumental task they would need an entire new engine to make them as players want… I dont think current wow has the capability to do it.

I mean its 2024 and we still can only place things in a marked spot. Theres no actual in game building customization. Garrisons are the best they can do…likely with the system limitations.

lol…they build instanced raids and dungeons and delves and farms and garrisons…they’ll do just fine with housing

Phased housing, like garrisons, is really the only tech that would work well in a game with a population as high as WoW.

They certainly could not have us sticking our crude, half-built houses, willy nilly all over the zones like Ultima does. And while its more “social” to have neighborhoods like Lotro and FFXIV do, the limitations end up being absolutely ridiculous.

Garrisons were the perfect tech for housing. You don’t have to amass gazillions of coin and compete against others to buy it. Your character never loses it. Other players don’t have to trip over it… justs needs to be less of a hub (no bank, AH, FP or quest givers) and slightly more custimizable. :upside_down_face:

Most went back to playing WoW, some went to GW2 or ESO. The weird ones are playing eve atm lol.

YMMV. Others want housing.

Ahh yes, ya know what i love about player housing? Not being able to have a permanent place to live of my own choosing and having it be temporary on top of being restricted on what i can do with it. /s

T-poses in confusion.

We don’t have a number, but we have a real-data graph sourced from Blizzard.

It was estimated by using a real-data graph from Blizzard to be about 5mil. It falls sharply after expansion launches. Dragonflight was good for retention. As it maintained a high subscriber count from launch.

Does not matter. WoW sub is a Wow sub. It’s impossible to separate them.

Do not underestimate Classic. China is massive.

That “data graph” was a trend line, it didn’t reference actual sub numbers. Literally says what the line is on the thing lol.

Sure. Trend lines based off current subscriber counts.

Those trend lines put subscriber counts near 7+ million.

5 million is more than reasonable.

How does a trend line where we have no reference points for it put numbers at 7 million, let alone ANY numbers?

You can make an inference when the person presenting the data gives you historical context, and that number being a validated number. Phrases like, “at an all-time high” and then comparing it to a known-value of ~12 million from WOTLK – this is how you get numbers. Now, did they actually say “all-time high”? Not to my knowledge – this is simply an example.

I’m not trying to be perfect. We don’t have any data on China because China forbids it. It will never be perfect. China is a huge population of players.

I’m lowballing when I use 5 million. Without China? Sure, maybe it’s not a lowball. With China? Absolutely lowballing it.

Now, take the stick out of your butt.
