Yeah this is the evergreen thing where everyone says they want it and hypes it on reddit or whatever but it actually isnt that big of a draw compared to just making a better raid. Its a vocal group that hypes it, but the player numbers dont lie.
It would have been huge, if we got the garrisons that they advertised, though.
The only reason it didnât pan out is because they over-hyped and cut so much from it.
You underestimate how many players would love to have fully customizable housing.
And âbetter raidâ? lol. What good is a raid when you see it for a few months and then itâs tossed aside when the new raid comes out? Iâd rather have a house that I continually live in, and dink around with for the entirety of the game. Like, gimme a house with a portal to the faction portal house, and lemme live there and add in new furniture and stuff every expansion, and that would be awesome.
Yes, it always 'would have been better if ____". This is like world pvp content, everyone imagines its going to be awesome in some way in their head but it never pans out and actually most people donât really care that much. Luckily Blizzard is smart enough not to waste time on it, itâs just a tangent from the core game of WoW that appeals only to a loud minority.
So youâd rather they waste time on throwaway content, stuff you see for a short time and then itâs thrown away and never seen again unless you really want a mog or something later on?
The game has hundreds of dungeons and raids, but most people only care about 1 raid and a half dozen dungeons unless a TW is up. And even with TW, only a few of an expansionâs dungeons are actually covered.
GarrisonsâŠ
They could simply make a direct portal to your WOD Garrison.
You already have one from your garrison to âStormshieldâ is it?
which in turn has a portal to sw.
One dirct portal to rule them allâŠlike a DK deathgate (or whatever itâs called).
Didnt GuildWars 2 just do housing? If Guild Wars 2 can do it, so can WoW with enough resources.
I donât think mechanics are the limiting factors. Everybody received an instanced garrison in WoD so we know the tech - or least a foundation - is there.
No, I suspect whatâs holding player housing back is the work needed to create - or convert - a large assortment of high-quality assets, along dev time to make a user-friendly system to place furniture freely. A big part of why player housing is attractive is because it lets people be creative. Itâs not the same without fully-customisable assets and high-poly furniture.
Its only talking about housing not apt.
Unless you can link me something itâs not solved.
You still have to win a lottery for a plot and then any house interior can be large but I see nothing that implies that functions to apt
Truth. Iâve seen some really creative stuff made under the EverQuest housing system. WoW can just adopt everything about that honestly and Iâd be happy.
wildstar housing system or bust.
No exceptions
There was this game that looked and played a lot like Everquest called Horizons, later renamed to Istaria.
It had one of the most ridiculously awesome housing systems Iâve ever seen.
It also had you leveling up lots of craft schools in order to build these houses, and if you were a playable dragon, an actual four-legged winged western dragon, full-size (because thatâs totally a thing in that game), you could even dig lairs in like fashion. Actual tunnels under the ground that you plan the layout of.
And there were enough plots scattered around that theyâd never become all full.
FF14 housing system sounds so incredibly stupid.
I have something like, 15 âhousesâ in SWTOR of all shapes and sizes and I never have to worry about the game taking them away from me to give to someone else.
Nope.
I donât want their system where I lose my house if Iâm inactive, or I canât get a house if Iâm not the first to win a bid on it.
I like SWTORâs system where I can just get a stronghold to myself to decorate as I please.
From everything Iâve read, trying to get a house in ff14 is a nightmare. Even with this so called fix, will your average, casual player be able to get a house? If the answer is no, why would we ever want anything like that here?
Oh snap, I didnât know you played!
What server?
I canât imagine how wow players would react being told they would never own a home because of whales but I kind of want to see it.
I donât remember, havenât played in about a year.
Basically what wildstar had, but wasnt a stronghold, it was just a plot of land in the sky where you could just either plug stuff in if that was your thing, or custom build what your heart desired, or combine the 2.
Later down the line there was things called communities where i think you could have like 5 plots interlinked, where you could either give access for others to build on their own, or just deck out by yourself.
It also allowed public houses for if you wanted to go check other players housing and either grab some ideas or just awe at creativity. You could set yours to private which would negate this and only that person could give access to their plot.
There was a lot of things wildstar did wrong, but the one thing that kept that game going was the housing, it was by far the best in any MMO
While New World has game issue, they have the best technical housing system in any MMO.
- Everyone can have one.
- Houses provide storage and buffs.
- You can pick the style by actually going to the different cities.
- Other people can see your house as they run around the cities.
- They are affordable and never expire.
- No world clutter.
well, from what Iâve read here it seems like you need to just play that game and not compare the two. They are different for a reason and yet one still has a more dedicated and larger player base. Happy gaming in that one then!
