Final fantasy 14 has solved player housing

Exploring it for a moment, it’s possible. It’s just a matter of what the priorities should be. a “Warband home” where your toons roam around at random? That’d be cool. But does that mean we’re focusing on Warband rooms instead of “Character-specific rooms”? The scope changes a lot.

And fwiw, I’m in support of Guild Housing/Apartments. The officers can make the centralized/common room. I can create my own room for my character, and take that room wherever I go. So if I move guilds, it’s like unplugging a cable from USB1 and plugging it in to USB2.

I want interior design to support sharing (import/export), like an insane version of Animal Crossing with the ability to import a code to produce a layout.

I was thinking really as a baseline, it would be Garrisons 2.0. A specific location would be the “Warband Home” place for everyone to go to, but the instanced version would be specific to your account. And it could be dolled up as one pleases, progressively unlocking things by like participating in world activities or as lucky drops or etc. Groundwork’s all there.

Yep FFXIV done had player housing solved ages ago. ESO’s housing system is great too.

That said, i do not want WoW’s current team doing housing, they’d mess up it.

They tried copying FFXIV’s amazing crafting system n look how it turned out.

The only reason this game doesn’t have player housing is because the devs wish it so.

True. It’s half-baked at best. That, and apparently not backwards-friendly. Look at all the Sparks-related tmogs back in DF one can’t get due to Flightstone wipe. You have to make a fresh alt to do the one-and-done 5 Sparks of Innovation quest in Valdrakken and that’s it, as I’d found out.

That’s probably what it will be. However, I think interior design should be it’s own system. I think placing a statue at the stature-designated spot is a tad lame.

Also, the Horde’s garrison was infinitely worse than the Alliance garrison. It’d be nice to have full access to an editor.

I live in an apartment irl why would I want to rent one in a video game

Because you can have it to yourself, you only pay the one and done instead of monthly, and to express that otherwise lack of any tangible soul you’ve had sucked out of you since this post?

One thing I wanted was that my garrison was usable by all my alts instead of one for every character. Maybe now that we have warbands something could be designed around them.

True enough. If they could, I’d be all for it. I was just keeping it within expectations and just providing the counter for “BUT IT’S A WASTE OF DEV TIME” to anyone wanting to be a doofus.

No if you unsub they take it away from you. Have to pay

Yeah, that’s exactly what I was thinking.

Every time I see this topic crop up I try to think of reasons I would want a house.

I’m invested in my character in FFXIV, both time wise and emotionally/psychologically.

I am not, in WoW. Why do I care if my sand rat has a house? What would I do with it? What chores will come with this system? It has to be a game of some kind, just like the Garrison was.

WoW doesn’t have space for what Square-Enix calls “lifestyle content.” There is no slice of life in WoW.

I think “within expectations” should be, “with good ole’ Blizzard polish.” Give them 5 years to make a system that feels like Halo Reach’s Forge system and we’ll be fine. The main issue will be art assets.

WoW and FFXIV may both be MMORPGs, but they are not the same type of MMORPG. FFXIV caters a lot more to the ‘lifestyle’ aspects of RPGs, while WoW leans much more into the power fantasy of getting ever-stronger and beating stuff up.

I mean, I wouldn’t mind it having a game element personally. I mean, hell. If you want a full on gamified slice of life example, remember Mabinogi by any chance?

There was also Island Sanctuaries as far as FFXIV is concerned for that matter.

Ach, too right… They do present good aesthetics, and that’s the crux of the focus for sure.

So does Lost Ark, which combines Island Sanctuaries and player housing in a sense, but that game suffers the same ideological issue I’m talking about with WoW. As a result, the island serves as a grind rather than something most people are invested in.

I could see them doing a house for your warband to share.

Eh… Fair. Though personally, I liked it either way. One can only presume and time will ultimately tell.

And if it’s any defense for it coming WoW-side? I still go back to and invest in my Garrison. Largely because it’s the closest thing to this. Also as a personal AH since I missed out on the Bronto.
