Oriental culture in general believes in respect toward others, and putting on a positive face. The States by comparison coddles and uplifts narcissism, individual infallibility, and rewards those who refuse to admit when one is wrong, because their deception isn’t really wrong; it’s just ‘their truth’.
This is why the currencies I put stock in are evidence, and scientific fact. Nothing that humans can dictate or control. Why? Because, Humans are flawed. I am flawed. Scientific Law just ‘is’, and laughs at those who seek to rebrand it. So I’ll use that as my compass for what is and is not. Not what some keyboard warrior told me I should believe, while threatening if I do not agree with their opinions I am -insert X name or insult- here. People can scream at me till the Sun goes nova and the Earth is a charred rock, and my stance will not change.
The wind may blow, but the mountain remains.

I half expected the above sentence to end with “Bitcoin” and / or “0 DTE options” haha. Nothing to see here! Carry on!

You really going to quote Susan Cain and post things Susan Cain would be against? Your false wisdom is glaring. Stop dealing in superiorities and let go of the notion any one culture has a geographic monopoly on insight.
As someone who has played both:
The casual community of wow is rather friendly, ff14’ is too unless you point out someone playing wrong. then you might get swamped with toxic positvity
The hardcore scene in wow is MUCH more toxic, and its not even close. having pugged high end achievments in both games (ultimates/savage, heroic raids and keystone master) you will have a much less relaxing experience in wow vs ff14.
PVP in both games is a toxic cesspool but at least ff14 has the smarts to disable chat in it’s arena mode. Wow should too.
Basically, if you’re not doing end game activities both games are very friendly and nice.
If you’re doing endgame particuarly pugging, wow is absolutely miserable.

I don’t know who your talking about, but I can see we’re not going to have a civil dialogue, so…
Have a wonderful life.
You quoted a western poet while attempting to allude to cultural superiority. You should probably understand the sources you are trying to quote or allude too.
That number doesn’t sound right to me at all. But maybe it is if ff14 doesn’t have the same international appeal
I think both game communities have their flaws.
FF community is more defensive about the game to a fault, but also has a lot of players that will agree with you when you kinds bring up some valid points about:
- Replayability of content
- Gatekeeping of game by MSQ tedium
Biggest way to avoid it is to avoid kinda saying WoW Good FF bad, cause the same comment of FF Good WoW bad also gets people annoyed here.
With that said as a somewhat regular on the forums there is also an issue here of:
- Getting griefed/brigraded
- Getting mass reported and while most times moderation will get it right sometimes not side with you even though you’ve asked a legitimate question/topic.
Most of the time the solution is to just accept it or mute problem individuals and move on with life, but yeah.

Subs matter to absolutely noone except investors.
Stop caring about this. I’m glad both games don’t give the real numbers out because it’s just annoying

It does matter especially on smaller regions like OCE where subs in FF have dropped to the point I need to make Party Finder to get people for daily roulettes on off-peak hours.
WoW I’ve never had this issue.

There is no such thing a toxic positivity outside of people who aren’t allowed to be jerks and are upset by that. You can’t do that in FF and we shouldn’t be allowed to do it here.

There is. Pixar did an entire movie about it for pretty much a cut and dry straight to the point example; Inside Out.

Really as I always saw it as the level of toxic that if you stick around in it too long it’s like bathing in acid… it tears at you until there’s nothing left. I mean they’d tear me to shreds there no doubt as I’d be saying the character options are kinda weighted given most of the races are just humans/elves with animal ears and tail…not very creative where as here in WoW we got minotaurs, fox people, werewolves, space aliens who seem like goats but got tentacles for some reason… much more creative characters than FF14 especially since FF14 only recently cracked down and said okay we’ll give you females of the Hrothgar or however you spell their name but it…feels lacking to me like they rushed development on them. I mean hey I’d probably also be torn apart by the FF14 community if I asked where the moogles are or if playable Banga or Numou exist… as I loved those races from like Final fantasy Tactics advanced… although on that note they need to do a remake of all the final fantasy tactics games and port them to switch as idk if I can trust Sony after some of their stunts of late

I think this is the crux of the issue. It’s just WoW’s fanbase is largely past the phase where we overwhelmingly defend Blizzard as an entity who can do no wrong. Their numerous missteps, professionally and personally, over the years can be blamed for that.

Apparently it only tracks characters over 70 and I cant post links, but still I don’t think its close to WoW. You can Google Lucky Bancho Census.
The greatest fear of the FFXIV community is that it will turn into the WoW community so negativity for the sake of it will be shut down pretty quick
However, there is a lot of negativity on the FFXIV forums and its a bit misleading to imply that isn’t the case.
sure, negativity will be met with disagreement and some people arguing that everything is fine just the way it is but you get that on these forums as well.
I find the FFXIV community a lot more welcoming and social in general and a lot more tolerant of new players. I finally learnt to tank and heal in FFXIV - still don’t like healing, love tanking - no way I’m trying it in WoW though.

Those forums are completely dead if you’re referring to the square official forums.
The greatest fear being that the game gets shut down perhaps where as wow has proven itself to have infinite lives
Think tanking is easier in that game because of getting threat and mob design in general. For starters, once a tank gets threat it’s very hard to lose. Secondly, wow has really pushed lately these mobs that attack random party members and also ton of random AoE on high keys it makes big pulls too crazy and mistakes highly punished.
It’s very annoying when you’re trying to round up mobs in wow and DPS can’t wait and start to steal aggro already or the darn hunter pets that taunt every second
I think it’s the way the game has trained the players to be.
In WoW, you succeed because others failed. Usually, they failed because you caused them to. So the incentive built into the game is to be as selfish as possible.
Not to mention Blizzard removed things that FFXIV still has, which have caused this community to become more toxic. “Welfare epics” as so many people called them back in Wrath, were a GOOD THING. They allowed progression for everyone, not just the 1% that wanted to raid.
Raids were also created for the sweaty 1% in WoW. Which means everyone has to be on their game. Which means failure causes people to get angry, which causes people to start blaming each other. Which means mistakes aren’t tolerated. Basically, WoW is built to train its player to be straight up negative and toxic.
FFXIV suffers from toxic positivity because the players feel like the game is the underdog. It’s an amazing game that up until recently, the sweaty 1% ignored. This caused the player base to become highly defensive.
Not to mention the way “Creative Business Unit III” with Yoshi P at the helm basically saved the game. They brought the game back from absolute disaster and created something great. This adds to the defensiveness of many of the players. There are a couple of documentaries on the web and youtube that go over the “Fall and Rise of FFXIV”. The one from NoClip is usually what people watch. I recommend watching that, it’s interesting.
